We can still turn the TV on/off and do some basic functions with the TiVo (swith channel, change volume). However..if I need to use the DVD player this weekend (which I will, I rented Lilo and Stitch from the library), I have to have the TV remote to switch from cable1 to cable2 (which gets the signal from the DVD player and not from the tv/vcr/TiVo). But we can't seem to find the remote. :(

St.Anthony,St.Anthony won't you PLEASE look around? Something is lost and can't be found.

Once St. Anthony is done finding your remote can you please send him my way? DH helped "fix" the computer again today...it is 2 months old and there is nothing wrong with it! This time instead of just all the emails, folders, and pictures he nuked my paper that I was 10 pages into and is due in oh 9 days!!! :earseek:

Will do!
How did he manage to nuke your paper? o.O
I hope you can get it back..perhaps a call to the Geek Squad might be of some assistance?

Are you serious? Prayers for your lost remote? Have you not been reading some of these threads today :confused3

LOL. Thanks for the laugh. I needed that today. My fingers are crossed that you find that darn remote. (They always walk away at the worst possible times, don't they?) :wizard:

I was thinking along the same lines. :confused3

Look in the couch - that's where we always find ours. And if all else fails, you can buy universal programmable remotes at places like Circuit City that work really well. I should know - we've got about 3 of them from every time we've lost the remote.

Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me. I didn't know there was a P and PD request protocol, that you weren't allowed to ask for PD for certain things. :earseek:

I have looked in both couches, underneath both counches, behind both couches and behind the entertainment center. I just cannot fathom where the darn thing went.

We used to have a universal remote, but the darn thing was so big it needed its own plastic pencil thing to operate it (like a PalmPilot)! :rotfl:

Ask for ALL the darn pixie dust you want, have at it.

To ask for Prayers (which is what I personally interpreted the P in your title to be, please correct me if I'm wrong) for a lost remote is insensitive at best, and inappropriate at worst given the threads about killed servicemen, a mother in NH who has been looking for her DEAD children for 2 years, among other things.

Oh lighten up,debster. Sheesh! If we all focused on the things that were ZOMG depressing all the time, what a boring place this would be!

geez, TOV is just lightening the mood up a bit. After the night I had, I needed the laugh. That is why I came here, to get a laugh or have my DIS friends get me into a better mood.

Thanks TOV.

Thank you Simba. :flower:

I didn't realize you could only pray for certain things, like people who are going to die or have died, or lost servicemen or what have you. I was always taught you could pray for just about anything (and my mother usually did).

Is there a switch on the back of your tv or other electronic device that you can flip to change from cable 1 to cable 2? Do you have any kids? Back in my day, I had to walk 10 miles to go to school....oh, wait...that was my dad's story.

Seriously, back in my day I was the remote control. My dad would say..."Sweetie, go change the channel, please. Sugar Plum, go turn up the volume." Have your kids do this. Soon, they'll get sick of it and will help you find your remote. :teeth:

There is a menu control button on the front of the TV itself. However it is currently covered up with a folded piece of computer paper that is taped on to the set because when Bugs was about 6 mos old, he discovered the power switch. He learned REALLY fast how funny it was to watch Mommy and Daddy go nuts when he pushed the button and turned the TV off or on. :rotfl2:
We've had to do the same thing with the computer because he LOVES to turn it on/off all by himself.

Look at the bright side: you'll have more time to play with your newly walking son! :goodvibes

I've got quite a collection of universal remotes myself. I'm glad I'm not the only one that collects them. :rotfl:

TOV - sending you :wizard: in the hopes you don't have to suffer much longer.

edited because THIS is so not worth being reprimanded for.

Lighten up yourself TOV, spend some quality time with your family, and turn off the TV.

Well, I went to a Catholic college with dismal parking and my roommate and I routinely prayed to St Anthony--patron saint of lost causes as well--for a parking spot. Sometimes we even threw in a prayer to Mary for good measure. It just about always worked.

Hope you find your remote. That is annoying.

::yes::

P&PD for a remote? How much more abuse can P&PD take? :confused3
