DFIL called last night. He's going to go to MI at the start of next week to help care for DGP and DGM.
DGP got the flu and became extremely dehydrated, which landed him in the hospital. He was there for a few days and on the day he was to be released, DGM had a heart attack. Luckily, she and one of DH's aunts were there to pick up DGP anyway, so all they had to do is walk her to the ER.
It's been a hard 12 mos for DGM. She had artery blockage which was taken care of last spring, and then over the summer it was discovered she had colon cancer, so she had to have that taken care of and have chemo as well.
It's sad that DH and I aren't closer and that we can't really do anything except send our good wishes. We can't afford to go visit right now, even though we'd love to.
DGM and DGP have always been really accepting of me, even if the rest of DH's family thought I was a bit of a nutjob. I really hope they feel better soon.
