So since we moved, things have been going pretty well (other than my Gaydays car fiasco, my DP's hospital visits, and losing my job LOL).

Well this weekend, the power company decided to increase our deposit, and I had to use what little money I had on hand or they were going to cut us off.

I get my next unemployment check on Friday, so it's not too bad, but we have no food or gas until then and it's annoying as heck. At least i still have my internet!

Oy vey!

I'm saddened to also hear that you haven't found new employment yet. Good luck with everything!

That sucks! Life's thrown so many curve balls your way, I don't know how you do it!! Keep the faith!!

It's not too bad, I just needed to vent LOL

My DP is the one really flipping out, he's a picky eater. I managed to throw together a pretty good bean salad with stuff I had in cans, but my DP didn't like it :rotfl:

I was going to suggest beans!

If you don't already cook with dried beans, they may help with next month (since I'm assuming that running out of money before the end of the month means that the next month will also be really tight), let me know if you need recipes. ;)

I am sorry to hear your unfortunate situation and can relate. Have you tried your local food bank, they are there to assist and give help. At least you will have some meals to assist you and your partner so you have to go without food. The Salvation Army also offers hot meals during the day with little to no charge.
Hope things turn better for you.

I actually have been to the food bank, it's how I got the canned beans :rotfl: I can't go back until next week though, they only let you visit once a month.

Salvation army is too far away, I have no gas in the car at the moment :/

ConcK, I would phone a social worker at the hospital where DP goes and ask for some referrals. They will know what services you guys qualify for based on DP's medical condition, income, the county you live in, etc. The agencies can probably send someone to the house to do an intake. Once the services are in place you can access them when you need to cover some gaps in food, utility bills, etc.

Good luck!

Good idea!

I have a friend who got really sick last year. She'd been struggling badly since she's still too sick to work, but, she's starting to get through the assessments for services and is doing better recently. It's amazing how much a small amount of support can help if they target it correctly.

We already deal with that stuff, since the only Medicaid doctor we could find for DP was at the health department (although we're working on a new one we found). They said they can only help us with cash-related stuff if there's a medical bill. There are plenty of medical issues, but with Medicaid no bill :rotfl:

Then look up "Social Services" in the phone book or Google with your zip code.

I know from volunteering with non-profits that the services are there, you just have to sort out what you qualify for and fill out the papers. :)

SO on top of everything else, our car got robbed tonight! We didn't have much in there, but they ripped the stereo out and stole all my CD's (about 60 of them). Luckily, the kid in the next building saw it.

He didn't know us, so he didn't know anything was wrong until the chick doing the robbing went into his sister's car. They chased the girl (and the guy driving the "get away car") down the road some, and at least got a partial plate.
I just got in after spending 2 hours dealing with the police :/

Do you have insurance that will cover it?

I'm glad the kid in the next building saw and got some info.

Still having no job, I've got the cheapest insurance possible so no it's not covered.

And I do have an iPod Shuffle, but I didn't have the plug to hook it up to the stereo :rotfl2:

Conck, I hope things turn around and get better for you guys, sorry to hear you are having a rough time:grouphug:

People still have "cds"?
um I still have cd's and I also still have cassette tapes:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Actually, so do I. But, I listen to music so rarely that I frequently can't remember where they are. We have an ipod touch, but, I don't think it even has anything on it.

When I was working in the parks, there was a kid (about 10-12) wearing a "Dark Side of the Moon" shirt. I said, "Oh, I love that album! I used to have it on vinyl!"

The kid: "What? Like the plastic clothes? How would they put music on that?"
