Town is not just for Catholics.

The town is named Ave Maria. It's outside of Naples Florida. It has roads named Annunciation Circle and John Paul II Boulevard. The town is laid out to catch the sunrise at a certain angle each March 25, the day Catholics celebrate the Feast of Annunciation.

The builders are saying that the town is opened to anyone, but it does sound like one of the partners, Domino’s Pizza founder Thomas Monaghan, an ardant Catholic, does not agree. He believes that if he had his way, Ave Maria would be God’s town.

“I thought we owned the real estate, so we can lease to whoever we want and put things in the contract, but there are laws and there were lawsuits out there,” Monaghan said.

So it's opened to other denominations. The developers say that they will allow any denomination to build a house of worship in Ave Maria, and that gays are welcome, too. Bet they are waiting for the Jews from the northeast to arrive too

I saw one interview with a resident, who stated "If a gay couple moves in, I'm moving! I've moved for similar reasons before."

I wonder if they are drafting "blue laws" mandating businesses close on Sundays.

Wouldn't that frost the cookies of the town founders if several gay couples purchased, and their town went from "God's Town" to "Gay Town" overnight?

:rotfl:

I was gonna suggest a road trip to raise a little you know what, but it looks like all they have so far is a coffee shop! I'm sure they will have a Cracker Barrel, Chick-fil-A, and a Domino's pizza by the end of the year! :sad2:

I saw on The View, I think, that the town is going to be dry and stores not allowed to sell condoms. Hmm maybe I should look at some real estate just outside the gates. No wonder Dominoes gives me agita.

They're a Catholic town and they don't want gays around?

How do they EVER expect to find a priest?

:lmao:

YES!! We can do it during the September meet!!!

...and this would be Reason #4,652 Why Florida Is The Worst State In The Union

I'm moving to Wisconson!

Please say it ain't so -- don't let Cracker Barrel be run be a bunch of intolerant wing-nuts...

Oh it's true! The good news is that hash brown casserole recipe is all over the Internet so you can make it at home! :cool1:

I'm so upset -- I didn't know that about Cracker Barrel. I discovered the place 7 years ago during a trip to WDW and loved the dinners for great prices. There is one 30 minutes from my home and we would go upon occasion.

I find their blatant discrimination very disturbing. Poop on them!

I believe they have cleaned up their act quite a bit recently. I think they even added sexual orientation to their non-discrimination clause after the whole law-suit mess.

But to me, if they had to FORCE you to not discriminate against me, I still don't want to spend my money with you. If you know what I mean.

Oh rpmdfw I know what you mean, but then again I went to a school where kids pitched pennies at me because I was jewish.
