Since I am going into 7th grade, I need to get my shots. What kind I do not know and I don't know how many.
My mom is going to make the impointment tomorrow.

I don't remember what it feels like or anything.

What do you do to not think about the pain?
What does it feel like? what would you compare it to?

Shots don't really hurt at all, kinda just like a little pinch.
It's just knowing that someone is going to intentionally hurt you that makes it scary.

Just look away, don't look at the needle, and talk to the parent you're with. Don't worry about it, it's over in a second.

It is not painful.
Whatsoever.
It may sting going in.
And then you can feel the fluid in your veins (I can at least) and it feels gross.
But it's not painful.
You shouldn't be afraid.

I don't understand the whole 'because I'm in seventh grade' thing.
The last shot I had was my yearly flu shot. Then one for meningitis (a girl at a local high school died from it). Then it was Hepatitis B.
Anyhoo, I get my flu one every year. No biggie.

I got a Tetanus (sp) shot today since I'm going to highschool.
The needle was pretty long but it took her 3 seconds and I didn't feel anything except for when she poked my skin and it just felt like a fingernail poking you. It'll probably be sore tomorrow but the last shot I had wasn't that bad. Although I'm not afraid of needles.
It didn't hurt. Nothing to be afraid of.

shots are not painful at all.

you may feel a little pinch once the needle goes in, but that is just from the alcohol that they rub on your skin going into your body. once you get past the little pinch, its almost all over. there is nothing to worry about at all.

i dont get the whole "going into seventh grade" thing either...i think its just because you have reached the age where you need to get shots to protect your body from certain diseases. its like an age you hit where your body can handle the antibiotics that are in the shots.

I feel better now, that everyone says its no biggie! Thanks for making me feel better

I will just look away! lol

I feel the need to watch.
I hate it when they tell me not to.
Please, I'm not squeamish.

The doctor kept asking me before she did anything.
"Are you ready?"
"Ok I'm getting ready to do it now"
"Are you alright"
"Are you ready?"

I'm like...well yea I have to get it sometime. xD But she told me she wishes all the 14 year olds were like me. Which is leading me to believe they were timid about it?
But I couldn't feel it at all and it didn't hurt. But I know alot of the kids I know are afraid of needles.

I watched. I always watch.

I wouldn't understand why because you couldn't feel it at all and it didn't hurt.

An old friend of mine would try to attack the nurse giving it to her.
I think she bit one once.

ooo. I used to cry when I was younger because I thought they hurt.
I would always pull my arm away but they always told me if they got it stuck I would have to be taken to the hospital to have surgery.
It scared me enough to keep me still.
But I didn't really attack the nurses I would just hold my arm so they couldn't give it to me. lol.

I had to get a Hep B and Tetanus shot for 7th grade. The Hep B one didn't hurt at all. But the Tetanus shot the punched right into the muscle, it really hurt for the next couple days and left a bruise/

The last time I got them done (in grade 9), I watched her put the needle in and then I passed out.

It doesn't hurt at all though, I just can't watch. Even on TV when they do it, I start to feel light-headed.

I can't watch House when they do the needle in the eye.
I could never imagine getting a needle there.

Oh, jeez, the needle in the eye.
I couldn't sleep after I saw that.
Even thinking about it, I'm getting lightheaded.

I have this OCD thing. Like fear of getting poked in the eye. But you should see me during things like that, you'd think I was mental.

Hmm. Needle in eye. Sounds painful but I actually don't feel lightheaded or anything. The only time I have felt lightheaded was on CSI a guy named Ryan got a nail shot in him right beside his eye.
Jenny should know I think.

Same here, it's actually one of my top fears.
Last year, my doctor thought I scratched my retina and had to put this strip into my eye so that if there was a scratch it would show up under the blacklight.
I seriously almost ran out of the office. My mom was forced to hold me down. I got in trouble for that one.

When I hold something like a pen, or pencil close to my eye, it spazzes out (not like physically, but in my mental state it does) so I force myself to close my eyes and put the object down.

I can't stand other people doing stuff to my eye. Like when the eye doctor puts drops in or puts the contact in for you. I can touch my eye though. I have to every day. I can't live without my contacts, i can't stand glasses.

About the shots, if you're a girl just wait until you get the HPV vaccine. It hurts so much. When I get shots they use this thing, it's a circular disk that has little spikes on one side. and you put that side against the skin and you put pressure against it and then they give you the shot through the little hole. You can't really feel the prick of the shot because there are 50 other things pricking you.
