Owning a Disney Vacation Home

Just curious if anyone on here owns a Vacatin Home they rent out near Disneyworld?

The reason I am asking is because I am interested in owning a home and was looking to hear about pitfalls and such

The other guideline reminder regards Personal Messages:

NO PERSONAL MESSAGES: The types of posts that we like to see on the DIS are those that everyone can participate in and benefit from.

You're welcome to use our Private Messaging system provided you do not also post "sent you a PM" on the board. It implies that it's something that cannot be posted on the DIS and is a way of skirting our rules.

I think my original post is legal regarding all this so I suspect it should stand.

Now wether somebody actually responds with information I need is another story.

It seems that there are a couple of people thinking about owning a vacation home. Can I just give some things to think about if you are considering it.

1. Do your homework, thoroughly. There are lots of costs and work associated with running a vacation rental - much more than most people realize. You need: licenses, to pay taxes, to keep up to date on the industry, keep everything updated and in good repair.

2. Be aware that it takes a LOT of time and effort to do. It impacts your whole life. (Can't go camping without internet access or a back up plan)

Hope that helps those that might be thinking about vacation home ownership.
