We don't currently own, but after just returning from our 5th trip to WDW since July, '99 we are looking hard at the plan. We visited WLV last week, and really liked what we saw. We stopped by HHI on the way to grandparents, and really liked that as well. My question is about the 11-month vs. 7-month windows for making reservations. If we think we would visit these two resorts most of the time, and we think 250 points would be the right number for us, would it make more sense to purchase 150 points at WLV and 100 points at HHI than just 250 at WLV? Or something similar? Does owning two different resorts allow you to make reservations at both 11 months out? Does the number of points owned at each determine any part of this? Hope that isn't too confusing. Thanks for the help!
 
you can make reservations at 11th months out at your home resort - in this case you would have 2 home resorts - VWL and HH - you could only use 150 points at VWL 11th months out and 100 at HH 11th months out - you could borrow - especially if you are trading off each year -

so in 2004 you stay at VWL - borrow 2005 - so have 300 points there - bank your 100 at HH

in 2005 you have 200 points (2005 and banked 2004) at HH for your stay there.

if you want to do both each year - then buy enough points so you can.

both of these are sold out resorts - you cannot buy from Disney - must buy from a resalers and then you have to take what it is offer - the 150 at VWL shouldn't be a problem - but your HH might be.

I will try to help.......

If you own 250 points at WLV you could book there at 11 mos. All other DVC's could be booked at the 7 mos. window.

If you split your points between WLV and HHI then you could reserve at 11 mos. for both those resorts.

This is why many own at more than one DVC. Some periods/room categories can be difficult to reserve at the 7 month window so if you know you will be traveling to WLV or HHI during peak season than it would be best to own there so that you could book at 11 mos.

So for each resort you own you can book at 11 mos. up to the amount of points you own in that resort. (you can use banked and borrowed points at 11 mos. also)

Example: You own 125 points at HHI.
You could use those 125 points to book HHI at the 11 mos. window.
If your ressie exceeds 125 points you would have to borrow or use banked points from that contract to complete the ressie.
You would not be able to use your WLV points at HHI to make a ressie at 11 mos or vice versa.

You could own 25 points and still be able to book at the 11 mos. window.
