'Ow do? Hope you're all well?

Hi folks. Haven't posted in an age, due to life changes, no trips and various other distractions. The years of annual Florida and Europe jollies seem a long time ago.

Anywhoo, quick update: still happily married to my best friend, the lovely Amanda, and, after several years saving, we're off to new York at the end of May for her (shush, don't tell her I told you!) FORTIETH!!

We had hoped for a full-fat version, including a week or so in Florida, but due to my business taking a battering in the last few years of recession, that'll have to wait until 2014 when I'm definitely going back for my 50th!

We've booked BA/AA flights from Manchester to JFK and 5 nights at a midtown hotel that averages 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor. the only other reservation so far is a sunset meal on her birthday at the River Cafe under Brooklyn Bridge.

May have a few questions soon about a couple of things that may have changed since our last visit 6 years ago.

Oh my word is it really 6 years ... I remember how much I loved reading your trip reports. Your trip to Barcelona once inspired me to go and seek out all the Gaudi architecture when we were there. Looking forward to your experiences in NYC as that is one place I have never visited. Great to see you back

Absolutely love reading your wonderful trip reports and especially the ones on your city breaks where you manage to walk for miles and cover so many wonderful things.
