Overwhelmed.....Help??

Hi!!!

So....we will be in WDW for President's Day week for either a 8 or 9 night stay. I've been to WDW twice before, and because of the DIS I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on all things Disney....but Universal is another story.

We will have 2 adults and 2 boys (7 and 11). My son (the 7 year old) has recently become obsessed with Harry Potter. I hadn't ever considered Universal in the past, but now I'm thinking we should add a day at Universal for this trip. I did read through the first page of the FAQ thread, but I'm still feeling overwhelmed.

Can anyone help me with the best plan for all of this? My son doesn't do big thrill or scary rides. The other little guy does like them, but would be OK just doing things we can do together too....or we could split up. Is there a good strategy to ensure the kids will be able to enjoy the Harry Potter area? Both kids are still pretty obsessed with super heroes so if there is anything in the park having to do with them they'll eat that up too.

I know there are two parks and we would only visit the one with Harry Potter I think since time is limited. Any tips? Anything at all? Ha ha.... I feel the same as I did before I ever knew a thing about WDW! TIA for anything helpful at all!

Where are you staying? Are you planning on staying near Disney or are you staying a day on the Universal side? If you are planning to visit Harry Potter and your kids love super heroes, then I would recommend going to IOA. In order to enjoy Harry Potter it is best to stay either on site or at a partner hotel that has 1 hour early park admission. Or you can visit US in the morning and jump over to IOA in the evening and enjoy Harry Potter. From what I've read the crowds die down in the evenings. Also keep in mind the week that you are going will probably busy with crowds, so you will definitely need some type of plan.

I suggest checking out the Orlando Informer. Do a search, you'll find it. He runs a Universal site that has a TON of good tips.

Where are you staying? Are you planning on staying near Disney or are you staying a day on the Universal side? If you are planning to visit Harry Potter and your kids love super heroes, then I would recommend going to IOA. Thank you for the answer!!! We are staying on Disney property at Coronado Springs I think. So I don't think we will be staying at Uni at all. I didn't think we were going to visit US at all....we were only thinking of IOA just because of the amount of time...But we would if we could! I thought I read about some kind of express pass we could pay for? Thanks for any help at all!!!
