We love to walk while at Disney, and won't be getting our usual miles in at the parks this year, as we're doing a less planned disney trip this year. I'd love to walk to other resorts from Boardwalk. Is there an overview map that shows where all the parks/resorts are in relation to one another? We've done the boardwalk loop, from there to the studios/epcot/swan and dolphin, but I wouldn't mind maybe walking to downtown disney or one of the other resorts to sightsee, but I'm directionally challenged-I need to see it on paper to visualize it.! Any help?

You can walk all around the Epcot resorts and to and from the studios or Epcot from the Epcot resorts. However, you cannot walk to any other resort outside that area, another park, or to Downtown Disney. Disney's design is simple, once you get outside those areas, there are no sidewalks, there are no trails, there is nothing but busy streets (that don't even have pedestrian crosswalks at intersections) and they do not allow walking on them.

You may want to take a bus to different resorts and walk around them that way to change your sights.

As noted, you can't really walk to other resorts (except, BC/YC, S/D) due to the roadway design and lack of sidewalks - but you could take a bus to DD and walk all thru SSR and even over to OKW (it's 0.93 miles from Cirque to bldg 55 at OKW). You can easily walk between OKW and SSR (about 3/4 mile) as well as all around each resort and then catch a bus from either resort back to DHS or Epcot and then walk back to BWV.

Here is a satellite map. BWV is on the left, you can see Epcot and OKW is just right of center. You can zoom in/out and manipulate the map to see other areas. - WDW aerial map

Enjoy! :)

You can also walk around French Quarter and back into Riverside at POR - which is a nice walk. But you have to get to POR in order to do it.

CR to Poly via GF is possible isn't it?

There is a canal between the MK and the GF where the Electric Water Pageant floats are stored.

One of my only dissatisfactions with WDW. They really should install sidewalks / bike paths EVERYWHERE. Good for health, good in terms of environmental/sustainability messaging.

You can get a good overview by looking at satellite maps. Here's a view of the area around the Boardwalk. You can see there is a sidewalk connecting the Epcot area resorts to the edge of the CBR. There's even a crosswalk and light to get you across Buena Vista Drive. If you could walk across that small patch of grass, you could then have all of CBR to walk around as well.

If you want other walks on property, there are sidewalks connecting CSR to the All-Stars.

love the Disneyrunning.com site. Also you can go to Mapmyrun.com and zoom in on Disney then start to map the one you want. Tells you elevations, distance, terrain. A bunch of things. Plus there are already user maps of Disney stored there. You might just find one already done for you.
