Overnight Flight with BA

I'm a little nervous about the prospect of an overnight flight home from WDW, especially as DH wouldn't let us upgrade to Premium Economy (sigh)...

Anyway, I was just wondering what the meal schedule is like on that flight? I'm hoping light snack after departure and then cooked breakfast in the morning, but has anyone flown that route (MCO to LGW) with BA and can clue me in? We're on the 8pm-ish flight out.

Thanks :)

Be a dinner around an hour and half in then light breakfast around and an hour/two hours before landing

Haven't done BA but usually it's dinner after take off then breakfast before landing.

I am not sure what BA serve in the way of breakfast but even the smell of the breakfast on VS makes me nauseous (tried eating it once - never again :rotfl: ) so I can't see BA being any better when we fly with them next year.

I usually have a drink then snack on chocolate on the drive home along with a bottle of coke for the caffeine! (Probably worth noting at this point I quite often had a Mars bar for breakfast when I was younger when competing as I couldn't eat much when nervous and that trend has continued ;) )

I must make sure I take snacks too... My DH told me we couldn't take ANY food into the USA when we went to New York, and I got hungry on the flight out. On the way back, I had two big packs of Twizzlers in my bag (my US pen-pal sent me some and I'm hooked) and I'd eaten one pack before we landed! ;) Whoops!)

first of all you CAN take food into the USA as long as :

a) it's non perishable and is not in the prohibited list https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/de...-bringing-food-into-the-u.s.-for-personal-use

b) you declare it

you can bring any kind of food onboard the plane (as long as it complies with safety rules e.g. liquids, gels, etc.) even if it's on the prohibited list (fruits for example) as long as you eat them, or throw them away, before getting off the plane at your first stop in the US

pre-packaged snacks or processed foods are allowed through US Customs as long as you declare them. (see the link above)

We had a breakfast box in May on the return which was pretty uninspiring but then flew from Gatwick to Edinburgh and had a lovely cooked breakfast on that flight ;)

We used a couple of qs credits at the Earl of Sandwich before leaving and had them on the plane instead of dinner.

Thank you! Funnily enough, I'd just read that site about half an hour ago. I won't need much (just some sweets and cereal bars), and I'll be very careful to declare anything :) Thank you :D

I wouldn't worry about snacks unless you typically stay up all night - you'll be sleepy, not hungry. Breakfast at 4am will be a shock.

We tend not to eat on the flight home. We use up our credits before we leave WDW for CS food to go and eat at the airport. We have eventually learned that from the moment we get to any airport, we treat our time zone as the one we are going into. It makes a massive difference with jetlag and it starts with meals actually, not sleep. Sleep will follow if your body is asking for food at the appropriate time

Oh and as for breakfast - Tracy is right! I can't stand eggs in any form and it's usually some form of eggy filled something or other :crazy2:

I don't normally have any problem with any breakfast. I love eggs. I devoured my breakfast on the flight home from NYC (we had an early flight out)... it was YUMMY!! :D

I'm not convinced these are real eggs ...... the stuff the people across the aisle from us were eating last year looked like a sponge bath mat :rolleyes2

We always use our last cs for earl of sandwich and take to airport :-)

Agree with that ::yes::

Plus whatever they serve has been pre-cooked and then re-heated

I think last December on BA from Orlando the breakfast box was a pastry, juice, water and a box of raisins. I may be wrong but I don't recall anything being hot, even the coffee was lukewarm!

I can't stand the smell of any plane food. Even the thought of it now is making my stomach turn. X

I flew with BA a couple of weeks ago. The main cooked meal was served about 90 mins into the flight. About 90 mins before we were due to land they served a breakfast box which contained a croissant with jam, granola bar, and a small bag of dried cranberries. It was all pretty tasteless which was a shame as their other meals had been quite good.
