Overnight Arrival

Have reservation Aug. 14 at VGC. Looking at flights. There is a reasonable fare on a flight late on Aug. 13 that would get us to the resort maybe around 1am. Has anyone ever done this? Would we be able to leave our bags and maybe hang out in the lobby or common area? Would appreciate any input. Thanks

You can totally do that. That being said, I would consider booking a room at the Hyatt in the airport or a cheap room at pop or an all star for the night and then move over the next morning after some sleep!

I would recommend airport. Given COVID restrictions I can see Disney not being cool with camping out in the lobby. You will definitely be required to be masked in public resort space as well.

We used to drive down overnight to the VGC to avoid traffic from Northern California. Often would leave around 10p to get in around 4a, had to be at the hotel before 5:30a to not get caught in an LA snarl. When we did this, we would check in, grab our room keys so we could use MM, then go crash in the car for the hours until the park opened.

For a 1a arrival, I'd probably opt for a nearby cheap hotel for those hours to get some real rest before trying to go to the parks. Even a few blocks away Garden Grove or hotels by Angel Stadium get much nicer and cheapers than the Good Neighbor hotels near DL.
