"Look, it's a stuffed animal"

And...

"Do you want to get your picture taken with the cat?"

We were standing in line in France for pictures/autograph with Marie from the Aristocats.

Too funny!

Aww, we LOVE Marie!!! my girls were SO sad that we missed her when we were there last..... my ODD and I love her bc our middle names are Marie, and my YDD loves her bc shes 'girlie and a diva' LOL

Seems like most people don't even know who Marie is...

Couple weeks ago at AK Koda was being called "Little Bear" by SEVERAL people

For some reason it bothers me when people don't know which characters they are talking about.

I love Marie too!!

It was funny. The stuffed animal comment was from a man walking by. A lady standing in line with her girls and autograph books called Marie- "the cat".

My girls love Marie :)

My 12 & 16 yr old girls LOVE Marie... We were exiting the Magic Kingdom one day back in November right around noon time and noticed that Marie had just come out for pics...my girls rushed over to the line to meet her and we got some GREAT pics of them. We also noticed quite a few folks referring to her as the cute "kitty" but not many seemed to know who she was - we chuckled!:)

One day I was in France and Marie came walking by and I heard a lady say "Oh look, it's Hello Kitty." :rotfl:

if people don't know who the characters are why are they waiting in line?
Makes no sense to me.:confused3

I agree! If I didnt know the character, I would be like "oh who is that?" and find out. But i dont think i would stand in line for an autograph/picture. I fear i would look like a fool when showing off my pictures to friends/family saying "YEAH thats me, yada, yada and yada with some character that we dont know."

It didn't to me either. But I must admit, last year I saw a flip side to the whole thing. We were at AK and my DD spotted Meeko (spelling?). She ran ahead and joined the line to wait, autograph book and pen all ready. I had NO CLUE who this character was and you know how kids 'explain' it to you - sort of a one word answer, assuming that as a mother, you must be kidding if you don't know ... :rolleyes1 So not wanting to look stupid I had to do a bit of a search online when I got home. :lmao:

During ESPN weekend a few years ago we saw people getting an autograph. We didn't know who he was and the couple standing next to us didn't know either. I said to DS get his autograph and then we will know. Of course his autograph was a lot of squiggley lines. So we have his autograph. Whoever he may be!!:rotfl:

I over heard a Dad tell his soon to look at Yogi Bear... :scared1: I looked and it was Baloo another time, a few months ago (actually I have heard this several times) Look at Tony the Tiger.. or look at the Tiger.. The "Tiger" is Tigger....:headache: how can you not know Tigger

We were also there last week and Marie was our favorite character interaction! My ds16 is an aspie kid and happened to draw a picture of Marie to look like his animated characters and he showed it to her and she was so excited and was hugging my son and was so sweet and funny! :)

And another time we saw her she was walking away and someone said "look at the bunny!" and she stopped in her tracks, folded her arms on her chest and shook her head at the person - too funny! :)

It could have easily been my husband and I! We saw her there too last November and had no idea who she was!:confused3 We have seen lots of Disney movies, but I suppose we have never seen Aristocats...or if we did, it was when our kids were little and don't remember. Rest assured, this will NEVER happen again!

My favorite was in the Magic Kingdom: "Let's go on the log flume next." I almost spit my soda.

Well, DD is 22 months old and she loves characters. If I saw Marie I would probably ask DD if she wanted to meet the cat. I'm not sure if I would bother to tell her the cat's name is Marie or, really, if I'd even remember that myself. I'm not sure who the bears are that a PP mentioned, but I'd ask DD if she wanted to meet the bear if we saw him. I've been a fan of WDW since I was a child and I like the animated films, but I've never really been into meeting characters. Different strokes, you know? So, it's really not important to me that DD knows all their names; I just want her to have fun hugging them all.

So I guess my hopes of ever having them bring out Toulouse and Berlioz are dashed now??????? :rotfl2:

I think they did the Marie character a little too asian styled for a lot of people to recognize her.

Nah.......... I just think too many people are woefully behind in their studies of classic Disney!

Don't people know one is required to watch all the Disney classics before entering the theme parks????????
