I've read that people suggest to get an over the door organizer to hold toiletries. I just looked at Wal-Mart & it's like $7. Does anyone know how much they cost at the $ Store. Also, do you feel its a good idea to get one. We're staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge ~ there will be 4 adults & 1 child in 1 room and 3 adults in another. Thanks in advance! :)

I just used one of these (from Walmart) on my cruise and plan on bringing it to Disney in Dec. It was so easy to find everything. I definitely remember poor storage at the Wilderness Lodge last year and assume the Beach Club will be comparable.

I got mine for $1 at the dollar store. You may have to search for a bit to find it, I believe I found mine in the aisle with the bathroom stuff. It was folded flat into a 12x12in square, clear plastic. Worked great, one of the best tips I got off these boards!

I have been looking for a couple weeks at Dollar Tree with no luck. Guess I just have to keep watching.

They also have been out of rain ponchos for weeks- I bought enough for 1 each but now decided a 2nd one makes sense since I dont see them as re-useable(yuck)

I can't complain about a reason to keep going back to Dollar Tree though! ;) I never walk out empty handed.

I got one at Walmart years ago and I love it. I originally got it to take on a cruise, but now I take it on vacation wherever we go. It really helps to keep things organized.

Dollar Store? I know this may sound stupid but are you talking about the Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, or Dollar General, or another kind of dollar store. I have looked at a couple of these stores and have not found one as of yet. I thought maybe I was checking the wrong store. I would love to get one for a DOLLAR!!!:yay:
Thanks,
Penny

I paid $7.99 for a really nice (and large) one at KMart (on sale from $9.99).

It holds 12 pairs of shoes so there are 24 pockets. It is not plastic, it is made of some type of thin material. It is a nice green color with navy trim. I figured I would invest in a nicer one and then just pack it away in my "Disney Tub" upon our return.

At KMart it was with the "BTS - Dorm" section (the organizers were special colors... there were coordinating items for dorm use), so perhaps they are even beginning to discount that kind of stuff? It's worth a look if you get to a KMart! :goodvibes

I went to another Dollar Tree today...and I found me an over the door organizer. On the package it was called a Shower Organizer, but it fits right over my door. You can't beat that for a $1.00. I am all ready for my trip now!

We just used one of these at Pop Century two weeks ago and it came in handy! I paid $7 from Wal-mart for it, but I think of it this way, I will probably use it over and over again on our next visits. With two adults and two teenagers, space is limited and it worked out great. The only problem we had was that it wouldnt fit over the bathroom door and we had to hang it in the closet.

I wouldn't leave without our over-the-door hanger! Mine was around $8, but I love it! I hung it on our bathroom door at home the week before we left for our trip. I labeled each pocket with things that we would need. It was so easy to make certain that I didn't forget anything that way. Then, the day before the trip, I grabbed things from the shoe holder & put them in ziplock bags. Quick & easy to unpack and I didn't have to worry about anything spilling or leaking.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm going to check the Dollar Tree tomorrow! :) I think this is the only thing left on my to buy list for our vacation! :cool1: :dance3:

Target had some also in the College '08 section. My store had them marked down 30%, they will go lower also. Reg. price was 7.99 I think.

Target also sells a clear plastic large one for $7.99 in the iron/closet section. I just bought one of those for my DD and all of her shoes.

I also used an over the door shoe holder on our recent trip. It is a wonderful tip. I got the $7 one at Wal-Mart. My DD14 reqeuested to use it in her room when we returned so the $7 spent was well worth it. However, I don't know how it is at other resorts but we stayed at POR and I couldn't get the hooks to fit over the bathroom door. This is the only door we had in our room. I ended up hanging it on the clothing rod next to our sinks and that worked out fine except the shoe holder was longer than what we needed.

What do you put in your "pockets"? Things like deodrant, hair spray, sahmpoo, razors, baby wipes, etc.? I know that this may seem like a crazy question but I bought one (Mickey) two years ago and didn't really use it that much but then again it is only me and my DS and we both have toiletry bags. However, next summer I am taking my niece (29) and her two children, 16 mo and 4 yo.

Be careful when buying an "over the door" organizer. Because if the hooks are too bulky, you won't be able to shut the door it is hanging on. You would be better off buying the kind of organizer that is designed to hang on a pole in a closet, and hang it on your closet rod in the room. I bought a shoe size one, and it folds perfectly flat in my luggage.

We stayed at AKL on our last trip, and were very excited to try this tip out! I bought one at the $1 store, but quickly discovered that the hooks were too small to fit over the door! Also- in order for it to be within reach while we were standing at the sinks, it would have covered the full-length mirror. So, we ended up hooking it onto the towel rack!
It still worked out great, and I decided that I will never make a trip (to WDW or elsewhere) without one!! :thumbsup2

Hope that helps!!

I used one for our last trip and it worked out great, especially since my DD5 and I were sharing the room with another mom and her DD6. I put in all the little things that we had with us, like laundry stuff in one pockets, crayons and pencils in another pocket (for the girls to do their HW), scissors and tape in another pocket, our little bottles of shampoo in another pocket, extra plastic bags in another, medicines, bandaids, anything that could fit in there. I actually ran out of pockets because I had only picked up a 9 pocket one. On a previous trip with the same friends, I had put all this stuff on a shelf in the armoire and was constantly searching through the mess to find what I needed. This trip, i just went to the organizer and found things right away.

I got ours at a dollar store but if I ever find a nice clear one, I would be willing to spend a little more on it. I think it's a great idea for any hotel you go to.
