well, i just couldnt help it. my new girl and i had made plans last week and this week to travel to biloxi for a comp nite, but those D*** hurricanes kept popping up. my department leave policy requires me to take 2 weeks leave before oct.30 or lose it, so i took this week off. i hate forced leave without plans and loathe sittiing around. So in great need for serious attitude adjustment and with the onset of Ivan now tracking towards brother in fort walton, i decided to try out Pop century one nite, although my bro and i are in the midst of planning our nov trip. i e-mailed him to join us but he said he was going to weather ivan as we had endured frances the week before. turns out they did ok, wish they had gone with us though.

i made reservations via phone and spoke with the nicest fellow. we got fl res rates $49.00 for the room and decided to get seasonal passes at $200.00 each which we will use again in Nov and Feb. I called gf and instructed her as to when and where to be wed morning and that i had rented disney world for us, and come hell and/or high water we were going. besides if the department needed me to stave off the storm, im just three hours away. i guess they want us to line up outside the city and make a human windbreak or something.

any way, we left wed morning and arrived at 1230. this is gf first real trip and we planned to do the things we wont be able to do with smaller kids in Nov. she was bubbly to say the least. driving onto disney property can be overwhelming. we exited 1-4 at the mk exit. of course i had no clue where pop was ,but thanks to those wonderful purple signs, gf continuously praised my planning abilities, directional prowess and sense of direction, i took the credit of course puffing my chest and jutting my chin.

Pop century is to say the least the biggest dang resort ive ever witnessed. our stay there was wonderful save two things.

the walk from the parking lot is a quest in itself. not only is it long, it's filled with huge colorful distractions designed to irritate the luggage mules. picture this, i'm carrying two large bags, hers filled with all things lead and mine lighter with a pull handle so im horribly askew. were walking along, room 255 , 70's building, easy to find. gf squealing along the way, oh look a huge computer key board. she starts jumping around" typing", jump on the 'V' baby, see baby i typed "i luv you", oh look a giant rabbit, oh look .etc.etc.

oh its this way come on she says skipping along merrily. we walk into the 80's building rm 7255, gf says this is it, it has a seven before the 255. she tries her key five times, try yours, mine wont work, well what do you make of this etc etc. you get the picture. i calmly remind her that were in the seventies building and that i dont think... never mind.

we continue the quest, encountering non-english speaking cms along the way who just "asmile" and shake their heads. "ah jes, ju keep go tha wayee ju find.. ju see." yeah ok. and the housekeepy lady "chee say ju kee go thees wayee, keepy goeen". well between gf and the international tour we finally arrive. beautiful room need shower and a nap..

number two on the no like list. its 12pm gf and i are soundly sleeping. enter mom and daughter." i dont want a bath", "young lady you get in there now"etc etc. i jump up and demand to know how mom and daughter got into our room. no one is there. i still dont know if they were above, beside or below us but we could hear them as if they were in our room. now as for me( i always carry earplugs when travelling)i fared ok, gf poor thing has to finally tell the little girl to mind her mom, astounding the level of acoustics. if only the kremolin had been built of the same materiels we wouldnt have had to spend so much on spy gadgets. the jet propelled flushes reverbating throughout the night reminded me of fantasia, sorcerer mickey and his wand etc. hey is a flush like a yawn?...i think so

gotta give the pop a three outta five stars for those two small dislikes. everything else, buses, food and service were wonderful.

we decided on mk and mgm. all rides were walk ons. including the big rides. all day long on both days, gf constantly hugged me and thanked me for renting disney world just for her. seriously it was that deserted. we did everything we wanted. so of course i told her i rented it just for her.

i also enjoyed telling gf that splash mountain, rnrc and tot were kiddie rides , only to delight in her screams of "i hate you", and, "you lied to me" as we corkscrewed and dropped time and time again, then have her squeal"that was fun" after it was all over and."ooohhh" dont tell the kids it goes fast, i guess so she could enjoy their tortured screams as well.

we had wonderful meals. we started with pecos bills for lunch. we did concourse steak house after wishes, had the prime rib. did pop food court for breakfast then sci-fi for lunch.

gf became ill before lunch either from the rides or that theme park/ resort/bus airconditioner smell. actually she became so ill we decided we had to leave early. she was sad and apologized the whole way home, am i a good disney girl friend? she kept asking. the best..your the best disney gf a man could ask for.
i told her not to forget i rented disney world for us in november too. I cant wait she squealed.. two months and two days..

I enjoyed your review. Very funny!

Thanks
