Over dressed at California Grill?

I know there have been about 1000 posts about sliding in on the casual side of the dress code at California Grill, but I was wondering if anyone gets really dressed up to go? I was thinking it might be fun to get all snazzy for dinner - think "little black dress" and stilettos for me and a shirt and tie for the husband. Would we be the most dressed up? Would we be out of place?

No, definitely not! Most people seem to lean toward the casual side of the dress code, if they honor it at all, but certain parties absolutely dress formally for the occasion! I think a lot of couples view California Grill a a rare opportunity to look snazzy and take advantage. I wouldn't worry abut feeling overdressed and wear what you want! The nicer clothing will enhance the experience.

You'll find some guests dressed up a bit more at most of the signature restaurants--and even some of the other resort restaurants. If you'll enjoy dressing up, go for it!

Many locals go for a special dinner and can be quite dressed up. Whatever you are comfortable in and if you want to turn heads, go for it!

DH and I dressed up last December for our honeymoon. We wore something very similar to what you're describing.

My DH and I wore exactly what you're describing in May and didn't feel out of place at all. It made the dinner feel more special for us too. Definitely go in what makes you comfortable but don't be afraid to dress up a little!

No you would not look out of place. Many people dress up at Disney. The last time we had dinner at CaliGrill (hubby's birthday) we did dress up, not ultra fancy, but I wore nice black pants and a nice top and black dressy shoes. My daughter wore the same thing, and my husband wore dress pants and a polo shirt. You will see all kids of attire at Disney restaurants. I say wear what you want. Have Fun!!

Again whatever you are comfortable with. Dinner there followed by a glass of wine in France at Epcot to watch Illuminations sounds great. Or sitting outside to watch the castle from the beach at Poly. But keep in mind the amount of walking, chance of a late night chill, etc.

I think it would be great to create a little "envelope" of grown up romance and take that wherever you like.

We schedule dinner late so we can watch Wishes from the observation deck. We go back to the hotel to sleep (I have a reservation for our anniversary this year too)

You wouldn't be the most dressed up. We were there in June and most women had some type of dress. We went in capris and the kids were in shorts...we were seated on the half of the restaurant where everyone was dressed like us and had kids, LOL. The other half seemed to be mainly adults, well-dressed.

Thanks for the info. But the reason why I ask is bc we have 5:30 reservations. Since it is early we r going to hang out there till wishes. I booked this months ago and took the time that was avail. Now I am thinking I much rather have it later for that reason. So we would like to get dressed up but then we have to go back to our room to change so we can hang out for the rest of the night. Any other suggestions?

I've never gone from a Signature Dining restaurant to a park so I can't really give any advice, but this idea sounds so romantic! I love the idea of heading off to EPCOT for the evening all dressed up and wandering World Showcase until Illuminations... I think I'd feel out of place at the other parks all dressed up, but I think at EPCOT at night it would feel less uncomfortable for some reason. Of course, you'd have to find an amazingly comfortable pair of heels
