Over-crowding at Beach Club Pool (SAB)

This is a topic that has been touched upon in other threads, but I'm looking for the widest response possible.

When we were at BC a couple of weeks ago, paying cash, SAB was so crowded that you could not find a seat. The pool was also crowded to the point that it really detracted from the experience (for example, you couldn't get into the hot tubs because they were always packed and it was hard to find a peaceful spot where my toddler wouldn't get splashed or bumped). Unless something is done, it seems that this problem can only get much worse once BCV comes on line. Does anyone know what the plan is to handle this? I've heard that BCV owners will definitely have a right to use SAB and it is a big selling point, but they are also past capacity during desirable times. It seems the only solutions would be to a) build a pool on par with SAB for BCV owners so they don't automatically go to SAB and b) do away with pool hopping at SAB.

Does anyone else foresee this as being a major problem and is Disney planning to seriously address it? From what I saw, it will be a disaster if they don't have a good plan.

Thanks

A couple of weeks ago was Easter week when the hotel is filled to complete capacity and the pool is always overwhelmingly crowded during the day. Thus, that is probably not the best time upon which to base an evaluation. Nevertheless, BCV is likely to increase the demand for the pool--BCV will also have its own pool but not likely to be anything near as elaborate as SAB (that pool will also be open to Beach Club/ Yacht Club guests). This is the same issue as faced Wilderness Lodge. The villas and a small pool were added but little or nothing was done to expand the main pool, number of busses, or restaurant space to deal with additional demand. Despite that, people have not been reporting (at least not yet) that WL is now much worse as a result.

We stayed at YC last summer specifically because the kids wanted that pool. It was okay, but frankly, the crowds were a bit much. We could usually find chairs to use, but the pool was so crowded it was, at times, hard to maneuver.

Now that we've bought into DVC, the kids are talking about pool hopping at the Poly's new pool. I think that might be a viable solution for us.

We have stayed at the BC three times. Each time the crowds were worse at SAB than the time before. The last time we stayed there was Memorial Day of 2000. We were lucky enough to have two rooms on the "quiet pool". SAB was terrible. SAB was the reason were started staying at the BC and SAB is proably the reason that we will not stay there again. We recently purchased resale at the BWV and are very happy we did.

Did you see the picture of the BCV on the construction fence? The artist's rendition of the pool looks very nice but I can't believe it will be on par with SAB.

:D
