I went to jellyrolls a couple weeks ago, ordered a couple of drinks and handed the bartender my $25 Disney gift card. In about what seemed like 5 minutes later the guy returns tells me he couldn't get it to go through so I hand him my debit card and transaction goes through with no problem.

I didn't think anything about it until Sunday night when we went to dinner at Ohana's and the server told me there wasn't anything on the card. So I call, and sure enough it says the card was used at jellyrolls, and this is where it gets fun...

I call Disney gift card, who tells me I need to deal with jellyrolls. So i call jellyrolls Sunday, and they take my name and tell me the accountant will call Monday. I call back on Monday afternoon since I didn't hear from them. She does check there records and tells me she can't find a record of the gift card being used. She tells me she needs to personally call Disney gift card to figure it out and will call me tuesday. It's now wednesday and still havent heard back.

I feel like I'm jumping through hoops for something that was their error. Any and all advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I would dispute the debit trans with your bank. You aren't getting anywhere with Disney and you will have better luck with your bank.

But it was a Disney gift card, which has nothing to do with the bank.

jellyrolls may not have the ability to re-load the giftcard. in that case they can maybe then give you a refund to your card. i would do this, i would try to see if you can get written proof from disney of the history of the card, or have them contact jellyrolls to confirm the information. i would then provide jellyrolls with a statement showing the same transaction on your card (black out some of your personal info like the card number except for the last four). once you have shown them proof they double charged you they will prolly be able to move faster with getting it resolved.:goodvibes

But if your bank reverses the charge, then you paid with the gift card which was your intention in the first place.

I agree with this post. Makes the most sense and seems to be the most direct route to solving the problem.:cutie:

Thank you so much! I'm going to contact the bank today!

I agree with this. The bank will probably be easier and quicker to deal with.

Oh, I see what you are saying.

So, OP, was the charge less than $25?

Every gift card (automatic not gift certificate) that I've ever seen is processed by a bank. I'm guessing it would be Chase for Disney as that's who does the rest of their banking.

Phone calls often do not cut it. You need to put this in writing to protect your rights.

Employee theft? Skimming?

Would the gift card headquarters send you a printout showing the times and places and amounts of usage of the card?

Or would they in the name of simplicity send out a new gift card and consider the case closed?

You would not be given a receipt for the gift card "usage" if a clerk says the card did not work and the clerk simply hands the card back to you. So no argument or dispute may expect you to show such a receipt.

As frustrating as it is, I agree to do a chargeback with your bank and then call Disney to let them know. In the end, Disney normally provides customer service that goes above and beyond so Im sure this will be taken care of. The delay in response may just be them having to trace the path of the funds.

I just handed him the card without asking how much. Turned out the total was exactly $25.

I'm going to reply to each post imdivudal since you can't quote multiple people with the iPad.

I called the number on the back of the gift card, and they basically said it wasn't there problem that I had to deal will jellyrolls. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to ask for some sort of print out.

this is why Im the most annoyed. I am one of the people that drinks the "Disney koolaid". I even got married and honeymooned there. THEY made a mistake and are making me jump through hoops to get MY money back. I worked all day, so I didn't get anything done today.

My plan for tomorrow is an angry call to Disney, probably telling them that I will be disputing it. Thanks for all the support. :)

Try not to be angry. Bad employees even get jobs at Disney. It may take some time to get things figured out. :goodvibes

A few years ago, when we got back from one of our WDW trips, I got a call from Chase. Someone was trying to use my Disney credit card and Chase was wanting me to cancel that card and they would send me another. They caught it before I even got that statement in the mail. I was grateful for the catch but I can't blame Disney for a bad employee some how gaining access to my card after using it on their property. Stuff happens.

I'm sure they will help you get everything squared away to your satisfaction. :thumbsup2
