outside vendors...$aving?

ok so far i am going with outside vido and photography-randy chapman and stan severance. what are some other outside vendors that are good and less expensive than disney for like transportation and flowers and decoration and stuff??? TIA

PS if anyone knows the cost of the babysitting services available that would be great also!!!I have some ppl coming who will be looking into babysitting services for the wedding. what are the different types offered? and will they come pick the kids up after the ceremony? With transportation I heard Disney is the best to use (they use Mears transportation for their busses). I believe they know the ins and outs of the area the best.

With babysitting - I'm trying to work out the logistics also. I know they offer in-room services and private parties in a separate room at your event where they have food, games, etc. Disney sets up a private party for the kiddies at a convention center. I think it ranges from $9.50/hour/child - $13.50 for a private party (depending on the ages of the children and how many you have)

For in-room service it is $14.00/hour for 1 child and $21.50/hour for 5 children (with pricing in between for less children).

We are using Chris from Whimsical Wey and we highly recommend her!!! She is fabulous and unfortunately we are only able to use her for the cermony because we are having our reception at the Living Seas.

We are using Randy Chapman for photography and Stan Severance for videography.

Other than that, i'm not sure what else is good or not... but I am interested as well. Hope that helps.

Heather, there may be a charge to bring in an outside musician.( I want to say $500.00 sticks out in my head, something like that) You should check about any charges that apply before looking for an outside DJ... by the time they add it on it may or may not be worth it to bring in someone else.

NO, you can not bring in any outside foo what so ever do to health codes. Also there are cakes starting at around 7 or 8 per slice and you can work with the chef's to get that number lower if need be. Their prices really aren't bad for what you are getting. Even if they did allow outside food it wouldn't go towards your minimum.

For some outside vendors like musicians there is a huge fee so it winds up being cheaper believe it or not booking through Disney. They will not allow any outside food vendores so best bet is to save on:

transporation

For floral I am using disney but I have heard great things and seen many beautiful pictures of a vendor named Raining Roses. maybe someone who hased them can give you more info!

They quoted us over $5000 (yes Five Thousand!) for the DJ for 4 hours at the reception, which seems positively absurd for some speakers and a laptop. That's more than the food! (50 guests * ~$80/per plate = $4000) So an outside vendor fee of $500 seems perfectly fine to me if I can significantly bring down the cost of the DJ.

Does anyone have any reccomendations?

That's why we don't want to have a DJ either I'm surprised people pay that!

That does sound much better. WHy was it so high? Is it at an unusual location that requires a bigger sound package??? If it is in park I don't know
that you could just like you can't use an outside florist if you are in park.

Not in the park.. I believe when you do it in the park it's somewhat easier since alot of the sound stuff is already set up. Nope, $5,000 for 4 hours of regular DJ service at the California Grill reception, nothing special. Heck, I even want to provide them pre-mixed cd's, so it's not like we are asking for anything special. The only thing I have to ask about, is that our planner barely mentioned something about it being "holiday" season but even still, $5k is an awful lot, and we just didn't budget for that!

Nope, $5,000 for 4 hours of regular DJ service at the California Grill reception, nothing special. Heck, I even want to provide them pre-mixed cd's, so it's not like we are asking for anything special. The only thing I have to ask about, is that our planner barely mentioned something about it being "holiday" season but even still, $5k is an awful lot, and we just didn't budget for that!

You can add a sound package to the California Grill for around 200 dollars.(And I was told this and know some one for a fact that did this) It is a CD player basically with speakers or something along those lines especially if you want to play pre-mixed CD's!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can save a ton.

The bride I know that did this had their reception in the main dining room. Not sure if it applies to the Napa room.

$5,000 seems wrong. I would double check. I know in the CG they sometimes will autimatically charge you for a dance floor (which you do not need by the way and would save alot of money by cutting it out) but the sound package and the DJ has got to be under $2,000! I would double check that figure I mean Disney likes to charge alot on some things but that sounds crazy I would ask them why that is so high and what it includes!

Oh my goodness--I would double check the $5000 quote for a DJ! Unless there is a special situation we don't know about that requires special equipment, then that seems ridiculous. Our DJ was nowhere near that, even during holiday season (our reception was at the AAR).

Heatherow42, I would check on this with your planner. I know during the month of December, the price for bands and DJ's is higher, due to heavy demand. However, a friend is getting married this year in December and the price she was quoted for a DJ for (4) hours was $2,270.00.
