My sister, her husband with my niece (2&1/2) and nephew (1yr) are heading to Disney soon and I will likely meet up with them as well. They'll be in Orlando most of the day Tuesday (after 10:00am), all of Wednesday and til 6:00pm or so Thursday.

Ideally they are only going to 2 parks for a day each. They intend to do MK Wed rope drop til dinnertime And Epcot rope drop til 6:00 Thursday.

But Tuesday they'll have 8-10 hours to burn. My sister doesn't want to take them to DTD cause she doesn't want them demanding more souvenirs for the rest of the trip, so I'm trying to think of other options. I suggested a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's, ride the boat/monorail, a walk around the animal viewing area of AKL, and taking the kids to see & get photos with Nemo & Cars at AoA.

What else is good and cheap/free to do around the resort area with little ones?

Chef Mickey s might be a hard one to get without a reservation. If you can't get in there try cape May cafe at the yacht and beach club for a character breakfast . You had a lot of good ideas another one would be taking them to Fort Wilderness. They have the horses there. I forget how much a pony ride was but it was relatively inexpensive by Disney standards. I know at certain times they do carriage rides as well. You could also go over to one of the Port Orleans resorts or Saratoga Springs and take the boat ride there. It goes to DTD but you could probably just stay on it. Have a fun time.

Cool thanks! I hadn't thought of that - DH & I haven't done character meals since we were kids. Does it really fill up on a weekday?

I bet they'd get a huge kick out of fort wilderness too. I forgot the horses are there - DH's coworker's kids told us all about it a few years back.
