Outside of winter

Any time ya want, I guess, if you don't live someplace it's just too stinkin hot to run the oven that long. Aside from Thanksgiving, we've cooked them when we had a lot of people coming for dinner and a chicken just wasn't going to do it, and we also had deep fried turkey at our wedding reception. That was February, so I guess it was still "winter." I love turkey. I'd cook it regularly if it wasn't for the fact that my husband (who merely tolerates it) would revolt. :rotfl: I usually get an extra one at Thanksgiving time for some time later, just as I usually buy several corned beefs around St. Pat's day while they are cheap so we can have them later on.

Use a roaster and you don't have to heat up the house with the oven.

My wife's family has ruined Thanksgiving for me. That was the only time I ever ate turkey and it was awesome. I come from a ham eating family. Ham for Easter, ham for Christmas, ham for large get-togethers. My wife's family has turkey for everything. There are so many birthdays and turkey is on the menu every time. I got sick of turkey because it was a special treat to have at Thanksgiving and now it is everywhere.

We use to deep fry one for the 4th of July. Moved on to a smoked turkey for a couple of years and now we just stick with burgers, brats and hotdogs.

Now that it is grilling weather we have a turkey london broil on the grill about 2 times a month:thumbsup2

I think I cook a turkey about 3 times a year. It's way too hot here in Georgia to cook a turkey in the summer, but I have one a Thanksgiving, Christmas, and then sometime around Feb-March. Mostly because my kids love all things Thanksgiving and they need a "fix" along about spring. :goodvibes When I make the turkey, I do the whole business--homemade dressing, devilled eggs, collard greens, carrot casserole, pie.

we cook a big turkey often, have a nice dinner the first night, and my dh eats turkey sandwiches for lunch all week. he loves them.

Never, only Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you're talking about the whole turkey, then never. But we had boneless turkey breast on the grill this past Sunday. Since DH and I were told to get our cholesterol down, we have been eating a whole lot of turkey. Turkey burgers, turkey meatballs, turkey chili. I'll also stop at the store and buy roasted turkey breast and make turkey salad.

Big one with all the trimmings at Thanksgiving.

Just a small turkey breast with mashed potatoes and a veggie, throughout the year. As a matter of fact I just bought one yesterday for the weekend.
