Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate some help! I have to figure out how to keep about 10 kids, all around age 7 occupied with some outside games at a BBQ this saturday.

Frankly, I am at a loss.

There is no budget for this except maybe $20 to get stuff.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance :hippie:

Bubbles & water pistols. My DS is 9 and still enjoys bubbles, but often enjoys popping them more. Get one of those bubble sets that blows lots of bubbles and give the kids full water pistols to shoot them with. Just make sure they are far away from the adults...

Sidewalk chalk. They can make hopscotch, box ball, or just be artist. :artist:

What about some of the classics from my childhood......

Tag, kickball, dodgeball, redlite etc.

Since it's a BBQ and everyone will be outside, anything with water will work well.

I like water ballons and squirt guns. I just hate picking up those little pcs. of broken balloons. Have fun. :cool1:

Pinata and a something that would take forever to bust it open.:rotfl: Kids love hitting that thing.

Oh yea...now the stuff is coming back to me. Most fun outdoor games are the relay games. Google Relay games and you will find alot of stuff.

1) Sponge relay.
Need 2 large containers and 2 small ones. You have 2 teams. What you do is have the big bucket full of water and a sponge. The kids line up and dip the sponge in the big bucket and run a distance to the small bucket and squeeze the sponge into the small bucket. Then they run back and give the sponge to the next person in line and go to the back of the line.
Make a line somewhere that they have to reach on the small container. Not too high so you can play it over again and have each side win/lose. Do a practice squeeze and see how many times it takes. Also do a "dry" runthru because it can get a tad confusing for that age.
WARNING: kids will be soaked, fyi.

WOW! lots of great ideas!!! Thanks everyone! If anyone has anymore, I will welcome those too! :sunny:

Watermelon Roll Relay -- get two watermelons, line kids up in two lines. Have them roll the watermelon by hand to one end and back ... then switch kids and do it until everyone rolls. First team to have all players finish wins!

Clothes Line Relay -- get two laundry baskets, some clothes and clothes pins. Hang up two laundry lines. Get your teams into 2 groups and each person goes up to the clothesline, grabs a piece of clothing and clothes pins and has to hang that item up before the next person goes. First group to hang all the clothes wins!

Water Relay -- just like the sponge relay, only you use cups to hold water instead of sponges.

Spoon and Bouncy Ball Relay -- Divide up into two teams. Give the first person on ea. team a plastic spoon and a bouncy ball. The first person in ea. group has to run (or walk fast) w/the ball on the spoon. Of course, if it drops, they have to pick it up and go. When they're done w/their relay, the next person gets the spoon and ball. First team to finish wins.

Hula Hoop Throw -- get two hula hoops and put them quite a distance apart, flat on the ground. Use bean bags or tennis balls and have the kids toss the ball/bean bag and try to get it into the hula hoop. Winners are the ones who land inside the hoop!

Baseball Bat Relay -- again, two groups of kids in separate lines, two baseball bats. Kids have to run up to the bat, grab it and hold it upright to the ground. They lean over and place their forehead on the top flat part of the bat. Then, they run around the bat in a circle (w/the bat to their head) for three complete circles around the bat. Then, they have to run back to their place. Of course, they're dizzy and falling all over the place, which not only makes it challenging, but hysterical as well!!!!!
