outlets on the train

there will be 7 of us going with out a sleeper. Will I have an outlet near my seat? dd has Asthma and I might need to use the nebulizer. Any info would be great!

You'll probably have to request it. Are you going to be on a normal train or the auto train?

The autotrain has an outlet on the Lower Level coach seats. It's between the 2nd and 3rd rows, I believe.

I brought a surge protector with me and just plugged in my laptop and some other passenger's cell phone chargers. We had movies in our own private car. Very nice.

after you get your tickets, cal back in and explain your situation and ask them if thet can add to your requests that you'd like to be seated near an outlet.
Unfortunately there are not many outlets in coach for regular trains.

Been, on regular Amtrak many times, and it seems to be which car they place you in, some cars have an outlet in every pair of seats and other cars have one or two per car, luck of the draw. Nothing really we can count on, we board in north eastern Ohio and switch in DC and from there south we have a roomette and they have an outlet. We wish all seats would have one in these times but you can never tell or plan. real pain, we have a portable DVD player we like to enjoy but its a toss up. We always have seen others asking where or who had the plug but to no avail, when you have the outlet seat in a certain car its tough to share. From Ohio to DC ,every pair of seats had an outlet, it was the double decker train car.

I've had the same experience as pepe. Sometimes there's an outlet at every seat, sometimes not nearly that many. Since it's a medical issue, call ahead of time. There is likely an outlet *somewhere* so talk to a conductor once you get on. Hopefully, someone would understand and switch seats if necessary, but if not, they should be able to point you towards an outlet you can use when you need it.
