Is there such a thing? When I go to universal web site it only lists fl residents? I'm from la and hoping to make 2 trips this year, in march - going to disney and planning 2-3 days at universal, the again next nov staying one week at hard rock. Any ticket suggestions?

There's an option for out of state annual passes. There's a button somewhere. I'm sure Metro will come around and give it soon. :)

thank you, i found the link off to the right side. prices much higher than in state. now to do the math and see wich option is cheeper. Last year we were able to get military discount tickets but see not available for 2011.

If you're talking about the price of the AP (resident vs. non-resident) the price is only $10.00/yr more for the non-resident Preferred AP ($229.99 vs. $219.99) and the Premier AP is the same price of $289.99...so not a lot of difference. Here is the link to the non-resident AP:

Another option to consider is getting one AP and then using the discount on the regular passes for the rest of your party.

The discount on regular tickets from an AP is a VERY nice little perk that can more then help pay for the cost difference between your getting a regular ticket or getting the AP.

If you purchase an AP online, do you get a voucher or an actual ticket? When is it actived? When you purchase? First actived when enter park, etc? The A/P room discount for one night almost pays for the A/P, but I was told you had to have the A/P when you book & they wouldn't give the discount at time of check in if you purchased A/P at that time. Just wondering if there is a way I could buy an A/P online & also get the A/P discount when I book the room.

In the middle of my call the call dropped & I didn't have time to call back at that time. Just wondering if anyone has the answers.

Thanks.

if you order the AP on line, you will receive the voucher.
you would take that voucher to the guest services at the park to activate it.

the one year time period for that AP begins when it is activated.

when you check into one of the loews hotels, and booked on the APH rate, it will be honored.

all you have to do is activate the voucher to the AP, return to the check in lobby and show the AP.
this can be done anytime prior to check out in order to keep the APH discounted room rate.

if you do not have an active AP, you would be paying rack rate for your room.
You prove that you do have the AP after checking in and your rate will be reversed to the APH one that you booked with.

many many peeps book with the APH rate and process the voucher after they check in to the hotel.

if you booked with that code, and later show proof of the AP, you will be fine.

Thank you! So I would be able to book the AP rate even without an active AP & get the price once I active the AP. Am I understanding that correctly?

double yes.......::yes::

i went through the same situation as you are now going through.

you need to book with the APH room rate in order to secure that room.
only a % of rooms are released with the AAA discount rate, APH rate, stay more, play more promo rates, etc., on certain dates.

show the voucher at check in and don't fret about it.
do return to the lobby and have it marked that your voucher was redeemed.
have them photocopy your AP ....

i have seen homies check in and ask for the ap discount rate at that time.
most of the time they are out of luck as the allotment has been filled.

book with the rate you want.
secure that rate by showing the AAA card, APH card, military card when you check in or before your check out day of the hotel.

If I book a room today for the month of October (no APH codes are available now), can you MODIFY the booking to include an APH code if one becomes available between now and the date I show up?

Or do I need to wait to book until the APH code is available (if it becomes available at all)?

Yes you can modify it as long as rooms are available.

Thank you for your quick reply.

One more question. When you purchase the annual pass online, I understand you get a voucher. That voucher is turned into an annual pass at guest services at the park. One of the perks of staying at a Universal Hotel is early entry to IOA.

So, is guest services open/available before that time? How long does it take to convert the voucher into an annual pass? (I.e. will I be able to get that out of the way and still benefit from the early entry if I get there early enough)?

Great question! I wish I had purchased a PAP years ago even though I live out of state!

A few more questions....

The discounts for regular park tickets are only good if they are purchased at the gate, right?

Also, does anyone know if there is a discount on HHN tix with the PAP, and if so, is it just for the passholder or can you get a discount on other HHN tix you purchase? And if there is a discount for everyone, can you get that with an online purchase?

Sorry to be so specific but any info would be much appreciated! Thanks!

check into the hotel early.
if you are there at 7:00 am, that would be great.

you will be issued hotel room keys which is needed in order to enter the park early.

show your room key.

get your ap voucher activated at guest services.
they open prior to the opening of the park.

i did read somewhere that a person did activate their voucher at the hotel.
i don't recall from that thread if it was a myth or fact.

the hotel card key holds the perks for early entry and express line use.

yes.

i have used my pap for years buying the discounted HHN tickets in advance.
i can purchase up to 6 of them at a time. this includes my ticket and tickets for my friends.
i order on line when the discounted amount has been listed.
that is usually a week or so after the regularly priced HHN tickets are listed.

Thank you so much! Good grief, sorry, just one more question...

Can we use the voucher like a PAP to get the discount on line even if the pass hasn't officially been activated? I mean it probably doesn't matter if I buy HHN tix at the gate also, it's just that I've always purchased all my tix in advance...

Thanks again!

the voucher for the ap will not allow you a discount online for tickets.
the ap must be activated before it can be used for discounts.

i know, that sucks.

you can book a room with the ap discount prior to activating the voucher.
show the ap at the front desk after check in so your rate will be charged under the ap rate you booked with.

Thanks again! I've finally decided to take the plunge! We're going to be there a few days in advance of actually going to the parks so I can always go over and get tix early... I really appreciate the info!!!

Just remember that you actually have to go through the turnstiles with your AP to activate it.
