Our Vero Beach Experience! YMMV 🐢 šŸ‘‹ 🌊

The bugs are awful at Vero beach and yes they are all year. Don’t bother with the garbage stuff they provide, the only thing that works is off with deet. I resisted for several trips and finally caved on the off. Now I wear it every day every time we go and voila! No bugs.

It is a very hands off resort in terms of service and I agree the last time we were there the people working in the quick service were very rude to the point where I actually felt myself getting angry (internally) with how they were treating us and others. I wrote this in the survey they sent. It sounds like it hasn’t been addressed >:(.

The rooms do have somewhat of a ā€œbeachā€smell.

We also had a disappointing experience with loungers years ago and have since brought our own folding chairs and umbrella. It can also be less expensive even if you buy the stuff locally and just leave it there at the end of your trip lol if you’re staying a decent amount of time. But bringing your own stuff is definitely more freeing and much less annoying.

We have also become increasingly annoyed with other guests there. I’m not sure if it is just because we are getting older but I feel like people are just so rude now. We took this one photo of a woman in the lobby with her bare feet on the sofa. Sorry, that’s just cringe for me.

Thank you for all of this, this just confirms that this is not the resort for us and im ok with that. My wife said she would possibly return one year if there was a no bugs season and that doesnt seem to be the case.

I used OFF with Deet which is probably why I got bit way less than everyone else but those lil buggers are relentless and STILL got me. I thought using the resorts stuff would be better, since they deal with this all the time, but it turns out not!

I also addressed all the rudeness we encountered as well in the survey, unfortunately from the response I got to my concerns on-site, I really think they just dont care šŸ˜•

That's actually a good idea, buying our own stuff and leaving it there if its cheaper, why not. No words for the woman on the couch 🤣🤣

I am surprised that you would have a poor response to your concerns. I have generally found the CMs at VB to be extremely kind and professional and at a higher level of service than many of the DW hotels.

Some of the cast members are really friendly and some... are not at all.

What surprised me was the front desk managers response to the chair situation. Walking us over to pay after they kicked us out and then saying we can go there tomorrow was a slap in the face to me and I feel they could have done more.

They didnt do anything different from me walking over there myself and paying after all that. The only difference is we didnt even get to utilize it until the next day and they didnt care.

Wish I would have gotten her name, I think her name tag said she was from Colombia, no idea how she became a manager, zero sympathy or customer service skills. I know Disney World would have handled this differently based on how they handled our Beach Club issue, which in my opinion a leaking dishwasher was not even upsetting at all compared to being kicked off the beach chairs without a replacement or anything done 🤣

I think the whole charging for loungers at VB is not great, and it sounds like there is a lot of ambiguity/uncertainty around how to do it...

Then again, they do charge for cabanas at the Grand Floridian, and other resorts...

I'm a very self-reliant person at hotels - I don't like people touching my stuff, I actively dislike valet parking, etc. so I can't really compare... I do like at VB, OKW, and really even GF how close the car is to the room. One of my favorite things about staying at the Sheraton Vistana for example was being able to look outside my kitchen and know my car was there the entire time.

I am going to consider a car rental seeing that parking is free at the theme parks it may be worth it, especially when doing things offsite if our trip isn't so theme park heavy. We also like to go to UO. Bellman was a necessity for the amount of stuff we had was ridiculous by the end of the trip 🤣🤣

If that is the GM, I’m pretty sure she came in within the last couple of years and that she is both the GM of HHI and VB which is weird. They used to have two separate GMs. And I absolutely think both resorts have stepped down service under her management. I just don’t think she is qualified frankly. Or even up to the job. The vibe is a bit less positive. We love both resorts, and I’m not saying the vibe at either is completely negative, just that there is a new sloppiness. I’ve noticed this at OKW and SSR too. Again, love both resorts and both are fabulous, but Disney is definitely putting in people to run them who are not as good as the people they replaced.
