We really liked OKW when we stayed there in a 2 bedroom last summer, too! I didn't know they were getting refurbished. They will be nice. We thought OKW was very nice and relaxed. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for posting the pictures of Old Key West....it's a resort I have always wanted to stay at, and now I want to even more I would love to see the reburbished ones, because yours looked pretty darn good to me!!

You are very welcome! I just can't say enough good things about OKW. I know the bus transportation isn't the best, (nor the boat, eh, MeMom and Jill??) but for room size and value it can't be beat. Plus the service was wonderful-some of the friendliest CM's we've ever encountered.

From what I understand they are changing the color palette to blues with a darker wood. There's, as always, people who like it and those who don't. I'm waiting to see for myself. Plus, I can live with change in colors for that kind of space!

I am wondering what you overlooked on your last walk-through!

I am using DH's computer tonight for a little while, too. Someone rolleyes1) suggested he buy a new video game today, so he is busy playing that right now.

You guys will feel sorry for one of my kids and laugh your behinds off at me when you see the two major things I forgot...

New video game? Maggie, I can't believe you'd distract your hubby that way! Good move!

I think your villa looks nice and very roomy! You have a sofa, loves seat and chair with an ottoman? Too cool!
So are they refurbing all of the villas at OKW? I suppose it is time....

OKW is officially back on my list, but we need a car. Maybe next July!

The refurb is a two year project and they started in the back of the resort. I will continue to book the HH villas even if it means getting a nonrefurbed one for now. The one night we rode the bus and DANG that place is big! I know there are other pools but we liked being near Community Hall and the main pool. I concur with the car...it really does help there.

I love the feel of Old Key West, too. We'd love to be able to stay in a place like you had one of these days.

You guys should try to stay there one day. I know you'd love it and it's a good value point wise. Plus, it's one of the easier ones to book.

Boy, do I ever want to just jump back into my pictures to that place. I'm a little over half way done with my 2nd grad course of the summer and I'm having trouble staying motivated. With home projects, a beach trip, and that ugly word (school) looming, I feel my summer slipping away. When I was there at OKW, it was the beginning and I had that carefree feeling...ahhh. I know you, and others, know just what I'm talkin' about!

Yes, it does have a beachy feel to it. Not the same as Beach Club though...that one is more refined I think is the word I would use. Beachy, but upscale. OKW is more like "who cares if there's sand on your feet, come on in" Now, if they'd just build something like SAB at OKW, we'd never stay anywhere else again!

Our villa overlooked the golf course. It was so pretty to look out in the mornings. I got pictures the next day I think. We had to close those blinds up tight so the kids could sleep a little because there was so much light in the mornings!

They just started refurbing. Have only gotten a few done. I think it will be nice too.
We have a 2BR next summer because John's parents, his sister, and her daughter are joining us!

Our villa was huge. I couldn't believe all the space. It will be hard to go back now!

We freshened up and settled in a bit and then decided to head over to DTD to get something to eat. I had a hankering for some Earl of Sandwich that was not going to be denied this trip. You see, Ellie doesn't like EoS. Yes, yes, I know but what can I do...I love her! Anyways, she had agreed to try it again if we got the grilled cheese made with only cheddar.

After being in the car all day we decided to use the boat. I love Disney boat trips so this was a no brainer. It was a beautiful afternoon and we all had that beginning trip giddiness.
I took some pictures as we walked over to the boat dock.

We got to the dock and there was a sign saying that the boat came every 20 minutes. There was no boat in sight so we decided to wait. We found a spot of shade and waited...and waited...and waited. I know we waited at least 20 minutes if not a little more. But, as I said, we all had that giddiness so we just chatted and soaked it all in. Soon enough we were off!
Bye OKW...for now!

The trip was uneventful and it was a good ride because we got to go past Saratoga Springs and see the Treehouse Villas. I didn't take any pictures because I was just enjoying myself. I'd hoped to take the boat again but we never did.

We got to DTD and went straight for Earl. Yummy! It was a little early so the place was only slightly busy. We ordered and found an inside table. I took a picture of mine and Ben's.
Mine is the original-I think that's the name. Roast beef and horseradish..mmm.

Ben had a meatball. You can see he's inhaled part of it before I could take the picture.

I took a picture of John's but for some reason the flash went off and all you can see is bright light. His was good though-whatever it was.
Everyone was happy with their sandwich except for the girl with the cheddar cheese only grilled cheese. Now we've determined that she doesn't like the bread. Oy! I think this is the only bread they have there so she's agreed to go again but get a salad instead. Bless my sweet girl. She ate about 1/2 of a half and we told her we'd stop for ice cream. She was fine with that!

I didn't take many pictures. I know we went to pin traders and each kid got a pin and Ellie got a new lanyard. I was hunting for the pretzel and popcorn pins I'd seen on MeMom's trip report but they didn't have them. I did get a Sorcerer Mickey pin this night. He's my favorite Mickey!

We also went here.

Ben got a frozen coke but that was it for this night.
We went and got ice cream and just sat and relaxed. I don't remember even going in World of Disney this night. I know I went in guest relations and got a Disney Visa rewards card and called and moved my balance over. I think this is while John waited for the ice cream-it was packed in there!
After ice cream we headed to the bus stop to go back to OKW. We didn't want to walk back over to the west side to catch the boat.

We arrived back at our villa. Here's our patio and the view of the golf course.

Now, here's where we have a few glitches. The kids get washed up and in their jammies. John is hooking up computers and getting his stuff settled. I start getting park bags ready...
Earlier in the year, at book fair at school, I had purchased a big book that has information about the characters-Junior Encyclopedia of Characters or something. Well, Ellie was in love with that book. She read every page at least 3 times. This was to be her autograph book for this trip...do you see where this is going???
I hunted and hunted. Finally I asked her if she had gotten it out of her bag. She said, as I was afraid, no. So, I hunted some more. I looked in every bag 20 times and went to the car. I knew right then that I didn't have it. I had Ben's but not hers. I told her and apologized to no end. I was so MAD at myself. She cried a little and rightfully so. She was so disappointed and I was in myself. I asked Ben if he was willing to forgo using his and he, bless his heart, said that there was no way he would use his without Ellie having hers. Somedays he does me proud! Ellie was totally fine with that and we told her she could get an autograph book at the park tomorrow if she wanted. Ben decided he wouldn't do autographs at all and that was fine with us too. I knew that day was coming with him. So, with hugs and kisses all around that was settled. I was still upset with myself so I decided I would go in the bedroom and get my stuff unpacked and ready for the next day.
I got everyone's clothes out and started to get out my outfit. It was then that I realized something else I'd forgotten....


It was of the undergarment variety. Worn only by women (well, should be anyways, HA!). I double checked my suitcase and just could NOT believe myself. I had washed all of them and never put them in my suitcase. At this point, with the autograph book crisis still fresh, I just started to cry but laugh at the same time. I went out in the other room and told John. He, of course, thought it was hilarious. At least with this, I only had inconvenienced myself. So, I had the one I was wearing and a sports one that I had, thankfully, thrown in at the last minute. John said when we had a chance we'd run back out to Wal-Mart so I could grab a couple more. Thank goodness for a villa with a washer and dryer.
After that, I took a shower and settled down with a book. Between traveling and all that "excitement", I was exhausted! Everyone else went to sleep as well. We had an early morning planned for Magic Kingdom!
