Hi

Wasn't sure where to post this so I hope this is ok. Am feeling a bit miserable as our trip to Florida which was supposed to be April next year has been postponed to April 2009 due to money problems and other stuff :sad1:

Are there any other people out there in DISland who are looking forward to something sooooooooooo far in the future?

I tried staying away from the boards and have lasted a week (!) but have come back to see what you are all up to. Am looking forward to getting back there but it is a long way away. Am definately feeling a bit sorry for myself, so if there are any spare hugs out there ...

:goodvibes I am so sad about your trip. Time flies by so fast though, 2009 will be here before we know it! I know you will be able to plan the BEST trip ever.

Aw, I'm so sorry your trip has to be delayed. Here's some cyber-hugs for you. :goodvibes The time will fly by. My oldest will be graduating from high school in 2009, so I know it will be here in the blink of an eye.

Just think about the absolutely fabulous vacation you can plan in that time!

Best wishes. You'll be there before you know it! The anticipation is so much fun and this way, the letdown of it being OVER :guilty: is further away, too.....

So sorry to hear your trips been posponed. :sad2:

I know how bad you must be feeling right now, we only put our trip back 5 months from May to this September and we were gutted. :sad1:

It'll fly by though and at least you can do plenty of planning

All the best

:thumbsup2

Sorry about your news. Our trip this year was a year and a month in the planning, and that was very, very long, so I feel for you. We did Disney things to help quench our Disney thirst while we waited. We went to Disney on Ice in October. We had our own Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We fixed a meal that had an Animal Kingdom theme, with food like Flame Tree BBQ. We visited the Disney Store any time we were near a mall. I've seen the Travel Channel Disney shows a bazillion times each. In my mind, I was standing right out on that balcony with Samantha Brown just the other day as she looked down from her AKL room. Finally, our time has almost come, so we're starting to shop for the little stuff for the trip, so it's getting exciting! Just enjoy your time on the Disboards and go along on everyone else's trips via their reports and pictures for now. We're hoping to be able to do live reports and pictures during our July trip, and you're welcome to come along for the ride. I know it's not the same, but just hang in there and do whatever Disney things you can until the real deal! For you, I don't know if it's more painful to hang around the Disboards knowing you can't go yet, or if it makes it more bearable to see the pictures and get the Disney feeling. For me personally, it was better to keep hanging around, so I've appreciated and enjoyed the stories and pictures. Either way, know that we feel for you, and we'll look forward to sharing in your excitement when your trip does get here!

Thank you all for the lovely comments. It is definately better to be on the DISboards than avoiding them as I love seeing everyones photos and reading reports and stuff.

I have just changed our countdown timer and we are looking forward to our trip already. It is better that we sort some money problems out and go out there next time with no worries about what we're spending. We can do it in style!

Thank you all again :)

I am so sorry about your trip. I do know exactly how you feel. Our trip for this August was cancelled by DHs work (long story). I had everything planned, every ADR was made and we had everything that we wanted. It was heart breaking to make that phone call to cancel the package and our ADRs. :sad1:

I was miserable for a few days then it got easier. Everything happens for a reason I suppose...

We are now actually hoping to be able to reschedule for September (if work allows it!!). It helps that you know a date that you will be able to go, regardless of how far away it is, it is something to plan for and get excited about:goodvibes

Sorry to hear your trip has been postponed :sad1:

Our last trip was booked 18mths before and the time flies in really fast. Just think of all the new rides and attractions that are going to be about when you go.

Remember it is never to early to start planning :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear that you've had to postpone your trip. I've been going over in my head whether or not my DW and I need to postpone our trip for the same reason as yours and really it's heartbraking for me too. I just know that I will be able to get back to WDW even if it takes a little longer than I wanted (my DW promised me that at least).

--Mr. DB

I had planned to take my DD, now 10, a friend, her DH, and her 2 kids to WDW in Dec. 2007. She called me a couple of months ago and cancelled. Reason: she's pregnant and due in Oct. 2007. No way is anyone willing to do WDW with a 2 month old. Thankfully, no plans had been made. We're going to try for Dec. 2008 when the baby will be 15 months old. That way the baby should be fairly well behaved and be able to enjoy most of the rides(kiddy and tame "adult").

:grouphug: Here are some hugs for you. Sorry you had to postpone your trip, but I am sure it will be an awesome trip in 2009. Financial worries at WDW can make for a not so fun time.

We are planning a trip for November 2010, you are not alone in planning far into the future. I just keep checking in so I can try to stay up to date on the goings on and try to make our trip the best it can be. We have only been to Disney one time and I planned it for years also. I like to save as much as possible so that we can go all out. If finances will be better the next year then I think you are doing the best thing you could do. Nothing worse than seeing a souvenir you think you might like, agonizing for days about whether or not to get it, deciding not to then being at home wishing you had it and regretting your decision not to buy it because of the money!

Sorry to hear that you have had to postpone your holiday. Remember you have postponed and not cancelled. The time will fly by - our eldest son was born in 1994 and we started a fund to take him and his unborn brother (arrived in 1996) to WDW. We managed it in 2003 and honestly, the time whizzed by. We are now in the final stages of planning that second visit in August this year. :grouphug:

We are planning our trip for Nov/Dec 2009. DH wants to wait until DD is a little older, she's 18 months now so he said when she's 4. I know it feels like a L-O-N-G time away but like someone else said I go on the DISboards to keep me getting to :sad1: . And also you can plan your trip using tips from others. I am still trying to figure out where to stay. :confused3

It does not matter when you go just make sure u get there, besides now you have something to look forward to, we go every other year and we are excited about 08, 10 and the new ships in 2012, so believe me 09 will be here before you know it. Times are hard, especially financially so family well being and finances first, then disney second.

Just think that you will be a pro with all the tips that you learn out here by the time that you go. Don't worry time will fly bye.

Sorry to hear about your trip being postponed! I know that can be hard - we had to postpone a trip one time - but I know the time will fly by and it will be nice to have more time to save money! Lots of hugs to you!:grouphug:

Sorry but you will get there.

We had an upcoming trip in Oct, planned for following 2 days at a family reunion. Dh just never could get on board with his vacation broken up like that, so we canceled and will spend his vacation at the family reunion. Fortunately, it's scheduled at a beach house, so I not-so-reluctantly cancelled our Oct trip to the World. BUT...in the fashion of any true Dis-ser we haven't really canceled it...we have postponed it! :cool1: We will be there in Feb of '08!! :)

We won't be going back to WDW until at least Jan or February 2009. It seems like a long time away, but we were just there this past January and this coming January we have a new addition to the family to look forward to. I"m sure he/she will make our time pass!!

I can't wait to share all the special magical moments with my children!
