We have recently returned from a wonderful WDW/DCL trip. This was our first experience with a tree house, prior to leaving I didn't find too much information on these wonderful villas so I'm sharing our experience. We had two villas, in one it was my family (me, dh, 17 yr old ds, plus another family of 2 adults, 17 yr old and 12 yr old boys), in the other was my nieces family of 4 (10 & 12 yr old boys and 2 adults).

Check in - we arrived WDW by car at about 3:00 pm and our villa was not ready. This put a kink in our plan of unloading the cars and going grocery shopping. So we went shopping with tired boys and cars full of luggage. We went to Costco first which was a madhouse! But feeding so many people it was the best option. We got the message our villa was ready while at Costco, about 4:00. This was just one villa, my niece was staying at AKL for 2 nights.

The villa is very nice although we had a few issues. The refridgerator wasn't cooling, ice maker wasn't working properly, and we could hardly open the door to the villa, the grill was also dirty and full of ashes. We called and maintenance came pretty quickly. I was at Publix when they arrived but according the DH they fixed everything and also notice a couple of lights out. They didn't fix the lights, telling DH to call about that later as it was the end of their shift. I don't think we ever called about that. Other than this, we really enjoyed the tree house, it was number 7025. We never used the tree house bus, preferring to walk over to Grandstand to get the bus. It's a short walk. We did sit out on the deck area a couple of nights, but beware of some kind of biting fly. We had received several bites and they itch for over a week!

When we booked we requested two tree houses next to each other. My niece and her family moved over on Tuesday (we arrived on Sunday). The tree house next to us had been vacant the entire time and we figured they would be in that one (7026). So we were surprised when they came check in that afternoon and were told their tree house wasn't ready yet. They spent several hours at the pool waiting, we aren't sure what they were waiting for because they were put in 7026. Seems like they won't let anyone check in until 4. I understand that is the stated time, but when the room has been vacant at least for 2 days, why make people wait? They had no issues with their villa and my ds slept there the rest of the trip so he'd have a real bed (being 6'4" makes most sleeping options less then desirable).

We enjoyed the boat service to Downtown Disney and used it often. The pool was small but quiet and refreshing.

Each bedroom has a TV and there's one in the living area. There were 2 regular and a decaf coffee packet for the coffee maker. There was also an extra roll of paper towels, so we had plenty. Our villa was missing a cookie sheet, so I purchased aluminum ones. We also didn't have a dish cloth/scrubby. We had plenty of dishes for all of us and also used paper plates. There's no pizza cutter which would have been useful (bought pizzas at Costco for the first night). One night we ordered from Pizza Hut. We grilled one night. The shampoo/conditioner provided is in VERY small containers. Since I'm the only one with hair it was enough, but just.

Overall, we really enjoyed the tree house and would book it again. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry that the room wasn't perfect, you deserved better!

Thanks for the details. Thank you for reporting the items that needing fixing. I often think if people just mentioned it they'd be fixed quickly.

As to the availability of the second THV, I think it would be nice if you reported that delay to Member Satisfaction. If the room had been vacant there was no reason for the delay, unless they were doing repairs. The room should have been cleaned when it was vacated by the last guest.

I have found that while member satisfaction needs to know about issues, they really don't seem to care. The resort and DVC have a love hate relationship, DVC is the middleman between the DVC guest and the resort and housekeeping. Each is a separate department with their own management and business budgets and responsibilities.

We stayed at POR over spring break and saw the treehouse villas for the first time while taking the boat to Downtown Disney. My DH and I both remarked on how frequently the captain of the ferry honked the horn. I'm curious - could you hear all the honking from your villa?

We stayed at the Treehouses in April and I don't remember being able to hear the boat horns while inside the villa and we were on the river side. I thought it was very quiet.

We heard the boat horns a lot the first night. We located at the bend in the river where they blow the horn each way. After the first night it didn't bother us much. My nieces' tree house was right on the water, it was difficult to see our tree house because of vegetation. They enjoyed watching the boats go by and waving so it didn't bother them at all.

I have read reviews from stays at the Poly with complaints about the boat horns. I'm a light sleeper and I need a good night's rest for Disney trips!! Happy to hear that the horns weren't a nuisance!

How did you find the parking over in that section of the tree houses? We stayed a few weeks later and were over in 7002. I found it strange that they had 4 tree houses in that area, but only parking for 3 (which made it a pain when I wrenched my ankle and we had to play parking spot roulette.) The 2 spaces are really enough for 2 1/2 at least, so if it's a "total asphalt space" that they have to adhere to for wetlands issues they could take some from the double spot and add it to the single spot.
