This was our 4th trip to Disney in the last 2 years. We have been on the DDP each time. On past trips, we have LOVED this plan and it has been a factor in us returning so often because we just love the food.

Cast = me 31, DH, DS 5

CRT (lunch)- We ate here last Sept and expected the food to be awful as that was what we were told, but we both got the Major Domo and LOVED IT. This time we ordered the same thing and neither of us like it. It was SOOOOO salty. Last time it had lots of mashed potatoes in it, but this time not much at all. It just was not good to me, so I did not eat much of it.

The raspberry dessert was incredible. yum yum

Crystal Palace (dinner) - This has always been my favorite at WDW mainly because of their great selection and that awesome Spooned Corn Bread (can't remember exactly what it is called). It was very good again. Their prime rib is great too. It was certainly not our best experience there, but it was still overall pretty darn good.

Play n Dine @ Hollywood & Vine- we ate here twice last September because DS LOVED it. We had thought the food was just ok, but that the entertainment was fabulous. Knowing it made DS so happy, we booked it again this trip. Our server was really nice, but I tell you, this place was total chaos this time. Instead of the entertainment being fun, it was just plain annoying. The CM lady that was leading the dancing, etc. just did not have it together like they did last year. I could not wait to get out of there. The food was mediocre at best and I found many empty bowls when I went to get food. Out of the 6 choices in the kids section, 2 bowls were completely empty. When I went to get my food it was the same deal, several items were completely gone with no replacements in site.

At one time I counted 30 people in line for the deli section of the buffet. Finally someone came over and pointed out to them that they could go over to the other side. It just seemed much less organized than last time and we do not plan to go back.

Coral Reef- this was the best meal of our trip - we had felt really rushed by previous servers, but Jenny told us to take our time, which we appreciated. I had the Land & Sea app. which was ok. DH & I had the New York Strip and we both LOVED it. The best food I put in my mouth the entire trip. The atmosphere was awesome. DH had some sort of Chocolate dessert that he loved and I had the cheesecake, which I thought was good.

Sci-Fi - This was DH's idea. I did not want to do it because I am not a Sci-Fi kind of person, but he assured me DS would love it, so I gave in. Our server was really great. I had the chili for app and it was gross. DH had the onion rings and they were WONDERFUL. Wish I had got those too. I ordered the Shrimp Penne Pasta. Let me tell you, it was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The shrimp had some odd flavor that was not good (shrimp is my favorite food), the pasta was VERY dry and also had an odd taste to it that to me was not edible. The spinach was not good either. I just took a few bites and could not do anymore. DH tried it too and he thought it was awful too. Not sure how you can mess up pasta, but they managed to. It was the worst meal I have ever had at Disney, period. DH had the turkey sandwhich, he liked it ok, but said it was certainly nothing special. Our meal came to nearly $100 and I would have been very upset if I had to pay that much for it, but since we were on the DDP, it made it not so frustrating. I had the ice cream sundae for dessert and it was WONDERFUL!!!!!! It saved my meal from being a total bust.

I would not go back to Sci-Fi if they paid me. Seriously.

Let me know if you have any questions as I will be happy to answer.

Aw, I'm sorry you had such a bad dining experience! But thank you for the reviews, I'm not into the character dining that much but this confirms I will not go to many of them.

Thanks for the reviews! The only thing you should ever get at the Sci Fi is a burger. They are okay, and my kids love the atmosphere.

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thanks for the review. I didn't care for the sci-fi when we went years ago, either.

Thanks for posting-I think we might have to try CP this year, especially since PF will be under rehab while we are there. Most of the reviews for CP are good.

Sorry to hear about the bad ones-especially Sci-Fi. My DM and I had (well almost had) dessert there about 9 years ago and we actually returned our sundaes. I don't know if its changed, or not, but then they made their HOT FUDGE sundaes with soft-serve ice cream. By the time they were served to us, they were half melted. We returned them to the kitchen and just paid for our drinks. I think my DD7 would really enjoy "eating in the cars" so I'm thinking this time we might just grab a quick snack, and I've heard so many good things about the onion rings that I know if we do go, we'll definitely have to get those! :goodvibes Since we'll be on DDP anyway, I'll probably let DD order a kid's meal there too.

Again, thanks for the reviews.:thumbsup2

I loved scifi (my favorite of the restaurants I've tried, including LeCellier) but I had onion rings, a sandwhich, and a sundae last time. Going for a burger at lunch this time. It's got great atmosphere, but I only hear bad things about it if you stray from the basics. Plus, how is "fancy food" good theming? I think it should be the kind of food you could buy at a drive in.

Thanks for the reviews. I'm happy to say that we don't have plans for any of the places you had trouble with. We've done Crystal Palace, but only for breakfast...which seems to be the best option with many of the character buffets.

I think I may cancel Sci Fi. I would have tried the shrimp too - thanks for the warning.:scared1:
Don't let that review scare you. We have been to the Sci-Fi twice and loved it both times. We do get the burgers and either shakes or sodas only. The atmosphere is the best around! We will be returning there in June!

Thank you for your reviews, I'm now looking forward to Coral Reef even more. The Steak sounds wonderful.

i am going back to disney in dec. and was wondering about the food there now im really up in the air.It also dont help when i have a small child who wont eat just anything if there is any more info someone can give me about there food i would be very thank you :)

thanks for sharing your reviews - sorry about sci-fi

we usually just get burgers, fries, rings and shakes there - figure they can't really mess that up much...

Thanks for the reviews.

Yay sci-fi is only good for burgers, onion rings, fries, and shakes. We don't go away from those.

Thanks for sharing. We have ressies for a lot of the same places and really have taken your opinion on your experiences to heart. I've read some wonderful things about the steak at Coral Reef and that's definitely on my list! Despite some of the blah food, hope you had a wonderful time otherwise!

I'm guessing your bad experience at Sci-Fi was due to what you ordered. We went there in February and we all loved it! The adults in our party all had reubens and ribs and they were excellent! Crystal Palace is one of our favorite restaurants too. The dinner buffet is awesome! To the above poster who was worried about WDW food with a picky child I'd suggest booking mainly buffets. We usually eat at quite a few of them and there is always something that all of my kids will eat and enjoy!
