I just wanted to thank everyone who helped us decide where to stay. We decided on Sunset Lakes because dh could fish in the two lakes found on the property. He only fished at one lake and is thrilled. He caught his largest bass ever. It was 25 inches and he was excited. In fact between this and the fact that he caught fish in the ocean from shore has cemented a future trip for us. He's not crazy about WDW but the fishing will "lure" him back.
We stayed in a 3 br 2 bath house with a private pool. It was clean and we were happy with the extra space. No one was tripping over anyone else and I didn't feel the need to constantly clean up after everyone because there was a place for all of their stuff. We ate or prepared breakfast for the short car ride every morning and even made it back for mid-day breaks a few times. The ride to the parks was short. We usually left around 7:45-7:50am and made it to rope drop with plenty of time to spare (usually arrived no later than 8:10). In fact for MK and Epcot we were some of the first in the park.
There is a big strip mall close to the community that has a grocery store, an Outback Steakhouse, Fridays, ice cream shops, mini golf, etc. There is also a McDonalds and Walgreens very close.
So if anyone is considering this gated community, I strongly recommend it. For us it was perfect.
Thanks again to everyone here for helping us.
