We just got back from 8 nights at the Swan. It is such a nice resort, we enjoyed it very much. Our room was on the 12th floor west side (club level). Our view was of the front of the resort looking down on the fountains and to our right was the tower of terror. We liked it at night all lit up. We could also see fireworks from the Fantasmic show.

Our room was very clean and did not feel crowded with 2 adults and 2 kids. The heavenly beds are wonderful very comfy. Bathrooms are a nice size, sink inside and one out side of the bath. Shower was great good water pressure and extra big towels.

Housekeeping was always good, requested our room to be cleaned around 11:00 or so and it was. Turndown service was nice to have, fresh towels for the next morning if needed.

The concierge lounge was wonderful in the morning for breakfast, muffins, pasteries, bagels, fruit tray, cereal yougart, nut breads and a few more other things I know I can't think of. This was well worth it for us just for the breakfast. Mama-T is the nicest lady, she makes sure everyone has what they need to eat.
She makes you feel very welcomed. She is also from Ohio!

Now the lounge in the evening, (the few times we were there) needs a little improvement. The gentleman who was there in the evening needs to be around Mama T , just to learn how to be a little more friendlier to people. Don't get me wrong he is a nice person, but lacks in the department of making you feel welcomed.

The lounge closes at 8pm and they serve the food from 5 to 7 and when it is 7:00 the food is put away, it don't matter if you just walked in the door at 6:59, you'd better hurry and get something before its put away. If there is anything left. they don't put out more food once it is gone. (they do for breakfast)

The transportation to Epcot and MGM on the friendship launch was very convenient and fast. Our first day there we took a ride on the boat, we had a dinner at Cape May, we got off the boat at the Beach Club just to find the place so we'd know where to go later. Well it started to rain so we get back on the boat. It was crowded, no where to sit for me and DD, well this young girl and her male friend had a bench to themselves with their legs on the bench. Now they could see people needed a seat, so I just stood by her seat and said "please move your feet I'd like to sit down here". So she did, but she looked at me like ah, do I have too? Then she had to move her feet more when DD sat down. She did not put her feet on the floor at all. Her friend behind her had enough sense to move his feet so my DH and DS could sit down. There was an older gentleman sitting across the isle from me, I just happened to look at him and he had this BIG smile on his face and gave me a wink.

The Dolphin Fountain is a fun and good place for a quick snack or some ice cream. It has a juke box that has mostly songs from the 50's, DS went to play a song and it would not take the money. Well guess what? It's free, just press what ever song (s) you want.

I'm [pretty sure the resort is non smoking now. Did not smell smoke any where, and people were outside smoking.

It is a very nice place to stay, so don't hesitate about staying there. Just because it dosen't have mickey soap and shampoo its no big deal. We still had that disney feeling. We like the mickey soap and shampoo especially DS. We had those at the AKL.

Any questions?

Sounds like you had a great trip!!! The Swan has queen size beds correct? Is there a daybed in the room in the event there are 5 people, or does the room only hold 4?

You mentioned the sink(s) by the bathroom. There is one outside the bathroom and one inside the bathroom? Thanks!

We were there during the same time! We were on 12 too, I agree Mama T is the best! What a doll. Thabo is great too. The CM's at the Swan were all wonderful. Our room was nice, the bedding was so nice, the TV large. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Mrs.A I really enjoyed your trip report. I appreciate all the wonderful details. We will be staying at the Swan for the first time over Thanksgiving. It's trip reports like yours that are making me even more excited about staying at the Swan:D

I'm glad you had such a great trip. Welcome back:wave:

Ms. A, great report! We just made reservations for the Swan in December and we don't know much about it yet. Just had to take advantage of the rates! Hope you don't mind, but I have a bunch of questions!

Did you find that the Swan was close enough to walk to Epcot and MGM or did you take the boat every time?

Did you eat at any of the restaurants besides Dolphin Fountain? (Palio for example.) Any thoughts on menus, prices, service?

You mentioned the very rude woman on the boat. I have heard that the people who stay at the Swan and Dolphin tend to be less friendly and courteous. I don't want to generalize, but a friend who has stayed at just about all the Disney resorts said that was the main difference she found between the "true" Disney hotels and the S/D. Did you feel that overall or was that one woman the extent of it?

And finally, did you try the pool? And, is there a hot tub?

Sorry for all the questions, but we have researched the WL and CBR and PO because we thought we'd be staying at one of those, but then these codes came out and were irresistable (plus giving us the excuse to buy APs and maybe make another trip!) Your review really made me excited that we're giving the Swan a go! Thanks!

Thanks for the report!

Sorry, one more question for you:

What time were the club hours in the morning?

Thanks again!

Hi everyone,

CarnotaurDad, club hours in the morning are 7 to 10. enjoy it is very good.

Maidmarion,
we always rode the boat to Epcot and MGM, it has air conditioning. Need I say more? Did not eat at Palio's or any other nicer restaurant we had PR seatings elsewhere. Did eat at the buffet at the Dolphin I think it's called the Bufferina?? It is overly priced.
People were very friendly they didn't seem any different then the people at the Poly theCR or the GF (we ate at 'Ohanas and DD did the tea party, and Chef Mickeys) There were conventions going on everyone seemed to have a smile on their face and a hello.
Pool is nice, really large, has a net set up for volleyball in the pool
I didn't notice any hot tubs, but the kids said they saw 2 of them.
I don't like hot tubs so I never really look for them.

Cindala,
Yes the beds are queen, no daybeds but I think you can rent a roll away bed. There is one sink inside the bath room and also out side.

Take time to really look around the resort look up at the ceilings
and around the sitting areas in the lobby.
There is an observation deck on the 12th floor, you get to it from the stairs, DS and DH discovered this. This is on the west side elevators. You may have to take the elevators to the 12th floor then the stairs. Got some nice pictures from there.

Everyone have a wonderful trip is really is a beautiful resort.

Mrs. A,

It sounds like your trip was great!

Does the observation deck that you mentioned face any of the fireworks in either Epcot or MGM?

Thanks!

It was facing the dolphin, DH and DS did not discover this until our last day there. Like 2 hours before checkout.

Tubbi's buffeteria is the cafeteria type restaurant.

DS did discover the viewing area, but we weren't sure if we were supposed to use it! He did stand out there one night.

Sounds as if you had a WONDERFUL time! I wish I could have seen you while you were here (probably did...but would not have known it!).

There is another secret observation area on the 25th floor of the Dolphin. Take the main elevator to the 25th floor and exit. Turn to the right and go through the door. There is a balcony area where you can see FOREVER (like in the Lion King). If you turn and go up another two-three flights, there is another area. Sometimes the door is locked up there.

These resorts are the BEST! I do not wish to leave, and could enroll DD in school here~and stay eternally. It's such a HAPPY place, with a good flow moving through it. You can "sense" it as you walk about (sounds corny, eh?). :p I am always relaxed in this place, and filled with a euphoria which is difficult to explain. THE MAGIC LIVES not only in WDW and the parks...but in the SWAN/DOLPHIN as well! I believe they sprinkle PIXIE DUST all over this place as we SLEEP.

Thanks for the wonderful review and post. Hope you return soon, and enjoy another memorable visit.

First timers!!! Just booked at the Swan Club Level 3-21-04 - 3-26-04. There will be 3 adults & 2 kids (7 & 4). Someone had mentioned to me that I should have just said there were 2 adults instead of 3 to get a cheaper rate. I don't like being deceitful. What do you guys think? I was going to book a Traditional room at first and then maybe see if I could get an upgrade to CL or pay for the upgrade but I was afraid that I couldn't get a room. Did I make the right decision? Now I'm wondering if I should have booked a Jr Suite. I booked on line (trying to earn some SPG points since I have 0) and it didn't give me any prices on a Jr Suite. It also didn't give me a choice to purchase any passes. I'm thinking I want to purchase the UHP. How should I go about purchasing these (cheapest)? How hard is it to get upgraded? Can I make payments on the reservations rather than have it charged on my credit card?
