YEAHHHH!!!! Can't wait till we're down there and watching Fantasmic together!

Hey PD here's another funny moment just for you....... brought to you by well--me.

My dh had a double ear infection so he was having a little trouble hearing, but he's always a guy no matter what the situation.

So picture this. We’re getting married Catholic. So we’re both standing in front of the alter with the priest in front of us. Our wedding party lovingly surrounding us. The church is packed….. all eyes of course….. on us! Well it comes to the moment we have to dedicate a bouqet of flowers to the Virgin Mary---- mind you we had just rehearsed this the night before. Well I turn to my left & start walking over – we had to walk about 5 feet to the left & turn right to go up to the statue. Well dh is just standing there. Somebody whispers to him --- in a LOUD stage whisper (remember double ear infection)---- “Go with her”. Dh replies “huh”. Again “GO WITH HER!” My totally male husband says “Step on it?!?!?” Then proceeds to step on my train which then causes me to be bodily jerked back. On the bright side atleast I didn’t fall. I ask you what’s total embarrassment in front of a couple hundred of your closest family & friends!?!?!?!? Now that moment IS probably on film!

WARNING: you are about to be subjected to a long drawn-out rave about AKL. Be warned this may happen at any time someone posts the words Animal Kingdom Lodge or the more well known acronym of AKL.

I can't describe how wonderful AKL is! You're gonna love it!
Everyone has different taste of course.. and there seems to be many people that prefer WL over AKL. I wanted to try some place new this year (we try to experience a new place every year).. so we did a split stay at AKL & WL.. a week at each. I was so disapointed with WL, I wish we would have finished with AKL but we stayed there first. The last day I wanted to grab something from the gift shop at AKL before going home so we stopped over there quick, and me and dd popped into the lobby for a minute just to experience it again.. and my dd said "mommy it feels like home here", and I knew just what she felt. I felt it when we entered the lobby the day we checked it... and we had only stayed there once before (last year it was our 'new' resort).

Next year I don't even think I want to try another resort.. I think we might just spend the whole time there.

My dd loved the bead activities they have scheduled (just ask any cm for a schedule)... they really encourage parents to participate too.. but almost all can be done easily by themselves (the scavenger hunt had you all over the resort and I didn't want my dd all over by herself so I got to run all over the resort too). She earned 10 beads (really nice wooden and even 2 small glass animals) for her 'totem'. On the last day you get your totem bead from the cm and they have you make a promise on it to do you best to protect your favorite animal.
They have night vision binoculars that are really cool.. it's like green daylight. You look out over the savannah (the one next to flamingo pond, whichever that is) and you can see the animals so clearly!
They have the nightly music parade thingie.. the kids choose an instrument to use and play it while in the 'parade'
By the way.. all of this is free.

In nataliz's trip report there seemed to be many times when she went out on her balcony and didn't see any animals. I can't remember even one time when we went on our balcony that we didn't see animals. There were always giraffes and/or zebras and/or the cattle thingies with the huge horns (Ankole?) hanging around. I have loads of pics with one and all of them together. There were other animals and birds, but the ones I mentioned were always around. We were on the Arusha savannah, zebra trail.. maybe that made a difference. If you're getting a savannah view.. I'd recommend you request that. We had it last year too and constantly saw animals. Just be sure you're not in the first building or the begining of the second building.. the arusha rock viewing area will look right into your room. We asked for, and got a room change. Got an awesome view!

All the CMs were great there! We came back so late one night from MK magic hours.. giddy and goofy, and I'm sure annoying. We went to the desk (front desk inside since it was so late) for valet parking.. and there were 2 CMs there that were so awesome! My dd mentioned how we were too tired to stop at a grocery store (assuming we could find one open) and now she'd have no hot cocoa in the morning to sit on the balcony and watch the animals! (our morning ritual). I told my dd I wouldn't have my morning coffee so I could suffer with her..lol. The CM said 'wait.. don't leave yet' and ran through a doorway. She returned a minute later with 5 packs of instant cocoa, I'm assuming from the employees lounge. Now considering we were laughing our heads off and being silly (from over-tiredness), we looked like drowned rats since we spent the last couple of hours CONSTANTLY riding splash mountain, in the front log every time of course... I'm pretty sure we had to be annoying, not the picture of charm and cuteness. But these CMs were so nice, enjoying our silliness and went out of their way to get my dd her morning cocoa! That wasn't the only time they were incredibly nice and sweet to us either.

Anyway... can you tell I love that place? Even the mousekeeping are friendly and always have smiles! In the 3 different places we have stayed on property in the past year, it's the only place my dd got towel animals.. last year too.

You'll have an incredible time there! Now I'm really missing it... wish we could go back NOW!

What an awesome description!!
Thank you so much!!
We actually went today and purchased our airfare, and put down the deposit on the package. I'm going back and forth regarding whether or not we should make any kind of request regarding the view...any suggestions?

Oh my goodness, you guys!!!

I have 50 pages to read to catch up!!!!!!!!! :faint:

A quick update on the smelly microwave: we tried vanilla, lemon juice, and vinegar, and none seem to have worked. :sad2:

Okay....off to speed-read...

Well I'm going to go engage in some competitive uno. Going to have some game time with the Codster tonight.

:rotfl2:
Lucky you!!
I love playing Uno, but no one else will play it with me...they say I'm too mean spirited and take it way too seriously. As if there is any other way to play it!!

Kinda sounds like us. We started dating May 7th, the next year got engaged on May 9th and then Married on May 8th the following year. We kinda got tossed out of our reception. (The mistress of ceramonies got ancy, I guess!)We didn't go anywere either, as Chip was making us nervous (had a stroke a few months before that and I wasn't to ready to go to far away. He was still a bit out there and forgetful.) We didn't hardly even get any of the great food we paid for! But it was a lovely day!! :thumbsup2

OK...Here is my wedding story :bride: .....We met on March 15th 1992, got married December 15th, 1992 in front of a judge (on a Tuesday after work), our first trip to WDW together(five days) and had a big party (reception) party: at the end of January 1993. Sounds very unromantic....but my DH is the most romantic person I know. :cloud9: Anyway....I have'nt read the last couple of pages yet and have no idea what the "when we got married thing stemmed from" ...so sorry if this is out of place.

P.S. We haven't missed a year with a trip to Disney ever since.....now that's romantic!!!:lovestruc

Yuck! :scared: Lucky for my dh that dd1 has become such a great caretaker. She helped him take care of his foot when he got hurt.

I actually got to watch them remove my hubby's ingrown toenail. Course I think I've seen it all with this crew I live with! Anyone want details! :teeth:

You know I just have to say how disappointed I am. I've been on here most of the day (breaks & lunch only people-- ok, extended breaks & lunch only), but nobody here has noticed I wore a lime green shirt to work today! :(

Haven't you guys been looking at me today when I'm posting?!?!?!? :(

Yes..
3rd or 4th floor (3rd is a bit better, but we were on the 4th this time and it was great too!) Zebra trail, Arusha Savannah (it's the middle or inner savannah)... at least the 3rd building down (I believe it's the 3500+ rooms) so no one is viewing you!

Zebra is a nice side to be on since with just an elevator ride down you come out right at the pool and the Mara (and the laundry room).
See Map:http://www.geocities.com/autumnangel96/aklmap3.jpg

The lime green trail is the best ;)
As you see the opposite side, the Kadu trail, has just as good a view. It's just not as convienent to everthing. But the views are great too.

Remember there are places all over the resort where you can view the animals. It's just nicer doing it from your own balcony.

Ya see.. you got me started again.....
