Our school play this year is High School Musical. I've never tried out for a play before this year (11th grade) so I wasn't planning on getting anything big. I just wanted to dance. Well the results got posted on Friday, and guess what part I have to play.

An Athlete... A.K.A. a guy!

I'm not a guy. I don't want to play a guy. But I have to act as a basketball player. The funny thing about this is they picked 4 of the most girly-girls to play guys. I think it's crazy. I was quite angry. I wanted a small part, but I was hoping to at least be a GIRL! ahh!!:crazy2:

Has anyone else had to play the opposite sex in a play before?

BTW-Sorry...but I needed to vent this somewhere.

I'm sorry.

I've been mice and birds with demented eyes. (Don't ask.) Those parts were for ballets, though.

actually, its really easy to be a guy for a preformance like that. I believe it was Bekah who posted how to make yourself physically look like a guy. I have fun with rolls of the opposite sex. And Bekah's ace bandage trick makes it SO much more easier.

Haha thats kinda cool! I'd be happy to be that! In our musical The Wiz I'm a flying monkey!!
But in earlier plays this year, my friend terry, played a women, now he is a skinny african american boy. He played a bonde german maid. It adds some comic relief when boys paly girls or girls play guys. playing a guy is easier, he ahd to wear a bra, stuff it,a blonde wig and high heels. I wouldn't complain, I'd be psyched!

If you're serious about doing this... coming from the mouth of a thespian... you shouldn't be worried. It'll be fine! I'm sure of it. Everything works out in the end. Sometimes you have to start out in something that you hate or is totally not you... for people to get a feel of you. and who knows!? you could be an amaxing boy! :p

Wierd. Mine is HSM too.

I think I have had to be a boy before, just fine with me. Have fun with it.

ours is guys and dols
my old school was HMS
and i (a guy) wuld not mind playing a girl so long as everyone else was doing the gender switch
