We are really considering buying at SSR and went 3 days ago to talk to the DVC. I thought the salespeople were suppose to be low pressure. This guy was very high pressure, the whole time just talked about the money and very little about the resort and the benefits of it! He showed us the rooms almost as an afterthought. Many, many times, he would say, tell me what to say to you so you will buy this today! I felt very pressured and also very pressure to sign the form so he can call us! We were there for over an hour and half and he almost didn't want to give us the fastpasses we were promised ahead of time. Like I said we are seriously considering buying but could we use a different salesperson? I really didn't like this guy and his high pressure techniques!

Thanks!

I am really surprised. That is not at all the experience we had, and we dealt with a couple of different sales people before we purchased.

Call and complain and then ask to speak to Linda Smit. She is WONDERFUL and will take good care of you with NO PRESSURE.

I am sorry to read you had a high pressured salesperson. You seemed to be still interested, so I would contact DVC & tell them just that & ask for a different salesperson.

That surprises me from what everyone has said on this board. I can only speak for myself. We were there the week after Christmas and had a tour and just sent in our signed papers Monday. Scot was our guide and he was very good with us. Never was there a push from him and was very helpful. We have spoken a few times and exchanged e-mail with questions we had. Sorry for your problem but I'm sure if you want to work with another person they would accomodate you. Personalities sometimes don't mix.

Ours explained the information then walked out of the room and gave us his cell number telling us to call if we needed him!

He was out of the room for about 10 minutes. It was a sale before we even took the tour!

sounds like you got a new guy - sorry - that happens - make sure that you let DVC sales you were unhappy with this guy and want another saleperson....

they will do it. Otherwise you are stuck with him forever - bad situation.

give him a few years and he will begin to understand the Disney magic and quite trying to hard sell....

We did all our sales via the phone and mail. In fact our sales person patiently waited several YEARS for us to buy with absolutely no high pressure. Her name is Michelle MacAlister at 1-800-827-7201. You will love her.

IT sounds out of the ordinary from what I've read or experienced.
We were there 3 weeks ago for the tour and there was no pressure at all when we visited our guide Lisa D. She went over everything in general and showed us the models. We went back to the office and she gave us a few minutes to go over the paper work and see if we had any questions. We asked our questions and told her we would call her in a couple of days which we did. No pressure at all. That helped us make our decision.

We didn't have a "low" pressure agent, we had a "no" pressure agent! I don't even recall him asking for a "yes/no" decision the first time we met with him. Ask for Randy Krueger.

Fmed, Lisa D is our sales guide too and she is just a doll. You are in good hands; she is great even AFTER the sale...

So sorry that OP had a rough time. Maybe this guy needed one extra sale to be "salesman of the month" or something, lol! We just bought a new minivan (for Disney trips, of course) and our salesman told us he was literally going to get this type of award because he had sold so many Hondas in February...

Our initial contact with Lisa was helpful and NO pressure!

Geoff - I know what you mean! From the first time we looked, until we bought it was around a year. We almost bought once, but we were waiting for the resort we really wanted. When we told Randy we were tired of waiting, he actually talked us in to waiting to get what we really wanted, instead of taking what was available. You just don't find people like him that often.

Very different experience than most of us had. We were very happy with Byron. He let us proceed at our pace, was very patient, prompt (he even returned a call when he was on holiday), courteous and easy to work with.

Too Bad! Our experience was completely the opposite. Gib gave us the scoop on buying into DVC and the tour. He then left us to talk privately. When he came back, and we said we wanted to purchase at the BCV, he said maybe we should wait and think it over some more...we could always do it through the mail. I had to convince him to go ahead with it then. Sandie

Ditto! Ditto! Ditto! We love Randy. When we first took the tour back in Dec. of '97 we went through the whole process and then told him we wanted to think about it. He had no problem with this, gave us his card and thanked us for coming. We sat eating our ice cream in the Commodore House (this was just before OKW sold out) and decided that we really did want to buy in. We had the receptionist call him back out and signed the paperwork. Since then he has called us every time we have referred people to DVC and has always been friendly and warm.

You MUST ask for a different Guide - and tell them why, if they ask. We too did it all over the phone and via mail, and Jim McCoy was the friendliest, most helpful - and least pushy - salesman we've ever dealt with.

Don't let one bad apple spoil the Guides' reputations.

Well, I will add one more super duper guide and her name is Judy Kaufman. So nice and absolutely no pressure whatsoever. I agree with the above, one bad one doesn't make the rest of the guides the same. I suggest you call and start all over with a new one.

When I first called I asked for Judy Kaufman, as she was the guide who took my mother on the tour. She was on vacation, so I was transferred to Lisa DeRosa.
That transfer worked out great. Lisa is great. We have bought twice from her over the phone. She has been wonderful. Very patient, always returns phone calls, answers all questions (even when they seem silly).
She even asks about my kids, which really makes me feel like we are important to her.

Definately call DVC and see about switching guides. Having a good guide will make all the difference in the world.

Back in 1997, we had Mark Webb as our guide. He was great. No pressure. As a matter-of-fact, he actually said soemthing like "Disney wants everyone to be happy, so if this isn't something that you think would make you happy, then don't buy it". He answered our questions when we called, promptly took care of paperwork issues etc. No pressure.

I'd call and ask for a different guide and tell them why.

While DVC tends to be low pressure, this is not always the case. We've seen more and more posts of higher pressure tactics over the last couple of months. Still this person seems way out there from a DVC standpoint. I'd ask for a different guide but don't think I'd ask for a specific person. Just be honest with them and they will handle it appropriately. Good luck.
