First of all, we had a great vacation! We stayed at HIFS the 1st 4 nights and did Disney so I won't bore you with those details. We checked into the RPR on the 9th and had originally planned that day to be a "free" day but since we had changed some scheduling around due to the rainy weather, that day had become our Epcot day. I know - how scandalous to check into RPR and not stay at Universal!!
I was going to check in after we got back from Epcot but we were ready early and since the park didn't open intil 9:00, my DH wanted to get our bags dropped off and everything out of the way. Since it was about 8:30, I really didn't expect a room to be ready at that time, but after telling Pia at the Loew's check-in line that I had heard how excellent she was and that I had hoped she would be working, she made a phone call and got us a waterview room on the 6th floor with a great view (our room # was 1618). We were close to the pool and water taxi too. Pia actually said that it was the only waterview room they had available so I didn't ask about getting an upgrade. We grabbed our bags and checked out our room - it was awesome and I didn't want to leave! But we headed out to Epcot and returned later for dinner.
We ate at Jake's that night since we just wanted something casual and close! I wasn't very hungry since we had ate at the Biegarten for lunch and sampled some food at the F&W festival so I just ordered a bowl of their Roasted Potato & Cheddar soup and a Shrimp Cocktail. The soup was very filling and I could only eat about 1/2 of it. It was good though and had a spicey flavor topped with green onions, bacon and sour cream. The shrimp cocktail had a great presentation in 1/2 a coconut with 2 sauces, one regular cocktail sauce and 1 yellow sauce that I kept trying to figure out what it was made of. It tasted a bit fruity/citrusy and had horseradish in it but I don't know what else. My DH had the turkey club sandwich and said it was really good. My son had mac & cheese and my DD had chicken fingers & fries, I think. Those were their usual choices for most of the trip.
We turned in early for an early start the next morning at IOA!
