Day 5, January 17, 2001 (Wednesday)

We rested again this morning and arrived at Fort Wilderness just before 10am. We took the Chip & Dale bus back to Pioneer Hall and the petting farm. Emily was in heaven. She rode all three ponies and enjoyed the goats, chickens, pigs, and sheep at the petting farm. I got a big kick out of Minnie Moo, the cow with a large hidden Mickey on her side. We also got to watch them put shoes on a horse and see some of the many horses that are in the parades and that pull the main street vehicles. We shopped at the trading post and then headed for lunch at Trails End Buffet. I decided to check in to see if Hoop Dee Doo was booked for Thursday night and was thrilled to find plenty of space available. We decided to do the 9:30pm time and get a 20% discount with our AP’s.

We enjoyed Trails End, it was great fried chicken and I especially loved their chili. It was a good value as well.

After meeting back up with Leah we all headed back over to MGM. We had to catch the Great Movie Ride, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Doug Live before Fantasmic!. We made the mistake of not getting the F! dinner package, I felt that in the off season we could just arrive 30-45 mins early and have no problem. WRONG! We were there 40 mins early and it was almost standing room only. I had been using my cane that day (sore joints from chemo) and luckily we were seated in one of the many still available handicapped sections. We were on the last row over to the left hand side. As always we loved this show.

To share a bit of Disney magic, after the show we were getting ready to exit and realized that Emily’s light sword had been taken. We searched everywhere and only hoped that the kids behind us had taken it accidently. Emily began to cry and we assured her we would get her another one, and then a CM walks up to check on Emily. We explained that her sword was missing and she immediately escorted us to a souvenir stand and delivered a new sword to Emily, they wouldn’t allow us to pay. This really helped make our night.

We then headed over to Downtown Disney for a quick bite at McDonalds and some shopping. After much success in the shopping department and getting our discount with AP’s at the World of Disney we splurged with ice cream and chocolates at Ghiradelli’s.

Zip-a-dee-do-dah...Tip for Today: Book the Fantasmic Dinner Package even in the off season!!

That magic keeps following you around doesnt it. Ghiradelli’s is one of my favorite places. Cant wait to have an ice cream there again.

Good to hear the light sword was replaced. On a trip my dd lost 3 yes 3 autograph books and as we kept looking her last one was replaced with a fat pen. One of the books was returned by mail about 2 months after we got home. Thanks for posting!
