Take a a taxi!! The only time our son had a "melt down" (and DH and I weren't far behind!) the entire trip was waiting in the sometimes overwhelming lines for a bus back to the resort at the end of the day/night. So twice we took a taxi back to our resort and it was amazing how it kept the Disney magic alive! (Ok, sounds corny, but true!) We did this twice-once from MK late at night and once after an afternoon of shopping at DTD. The fare to ASMovie (basically at the other end of WDW from MK) was only about $11, plus gratuity. This tip may sound trivial to some, but believe me-it kept the magic alive for us!

I've been saving extra cash in a can for just this purpose when we are there in December.

It will be money well spent! I know some ppl will think this tip is trivial, but it honestly is the best tip we can share! Have a wonderful time in December!! :flower:

I agree that spending $11 to save one's sanity is money well spent.
Good tip OP!

Jennifer. :cool1:

I agree, that thought crossed my mind :earsgirl: many times when I saw the long line, I only wished I had the taxi number programmed in my cell phone. Although, the wait was bearable for us, the taxi would have been nice, especially at 2 a.m.....

are taxis lined up outside the parks for people to use after the parks close? or do you have to call them? :confused3

Where can you catch Taxis at the parks?
We've done this from the Boardwalk back to the hotel but not from the parks.

We are planning on doing this after Illuminations and after our dinner at Boma to get back to WL.

Here's the number for the Taxis: (407) 699-9999

Annie.

I've always seen them lined up at the exit of the parks.

Actually, since Disney takes care of airport transport, I'm seriously considering not getting a rental car this trip and using taxis for wherever we have to go. THat would only be for a trip to/from the grocer, possibly a trip to/from the outlets, and then take a shuttle van to/from SeaWorld. The amounts for the taxis would be split with another family. Me and my other mommy friend would go out to get the stuff while our DH's lounge with the kids at the pool, lol.

The only way I would not do the taxi route will be if I can find a really great deal on a rental closer to our travel dates.

Or are they just everywhere? We don't have cell phones, so not sure how we'd call for one from one of the parks. I am thinking of taking one from our resort to a couple ADR's at other resorts. But how would we catch one from a park back to the resort???

 I agree, every trip after fantasmic the lines are outrageous! It makes such a difference to hop in that cab and be at your resort in a few minutes. The taxis are everywhere in the front areas of the parking lots. Just look past the resort buses.

How about at MK? The taxis aren't allowed where the busses are, I assume...are they at the TTC? So you would have to take the monorail/ferry to the TTC to catch the taxi?

I really wished I would have thought about this last June when we were there. My 15 year old son and I were there alone and went to MK for an evening. It was the hottest day and night of our trip. My son got heat stroke and after spending 1 1/2 hours in the firt aid station resting and pushing fluids we had to leave and try to get on the monorail, and then the tram to the parking lot. If I was thinking I would have taken a taxi to our room and figured out how to get our car later. Standing in the lines after the fireworks and trying to get a sick kid on the momorail and then the tram along with thousands of others I would have spent much more than they asked to get him back to our room.

That's right. OR just walk over to the CR and grab a cab from there

Have done this on occasion , especially when the kids' were little and having a meltdown. I agree $11 is cheap to save your sanity!

Any time we go on any type of trip, I always find the phone numbers for nearest hospital, cab, pharmacy, our hotel, any restaurants, and any attractions we'll be at. I then program them all into my cell using a 1- then the name. They are all there together in the same place and a snap to find. It's worth it if you need to find a ride, etc. Takes about 10 seconds to remove afterwards and is so very much worth the peace of mind if you need them.

I've also programmed our reservation numbers in the notes area of my phone. And we took a picture of a notecard with our address and home phone number and made that the picture on the phone (while on the trip).
