Our new Fisher Price toy speaks German!

We got this toy:

for our girls this Christmas. We finally got around to putting in the batteries and found that it speaks German!!!!
Pretty cool, but since I am a French teacher I wish it spoke French. Fisher Price is sending a replacement. Too funny! I guess I could have sold it on ebay, but at first I had no idea what it was speaking!

are you sending it back? when you ordered it did you get to choose the language? Im looking for german speaking toys and videos for the kids.

Yes, I have to send it back if I want a check for a new one. No, there was no language selection, and it was in an English box! I bought it at Target. The lady I talked to was as amused and I was.

If I've learned anything from Disney movies, this probably happened after the other toys were trying to reset the new one, held their finger in the reset hole too long, and accidentally set it to German mode.

ShadeDK..anything in particular that made you happen upon this 10 year old thread? The OP hasn't posted in 2 years. Just curious as to what causes people to resurrect old threads. Were you doing a search for something, and it just appeared?

I'm pretty sure people who don't have an adblocker installed see "recommended threads" or something like that at the bottom of the page. At least that's what I have read in the past when an old thread gets brought up again.

How odd - this thread was on the main page of the Community Board for me this morning. Didn't even look at the date it originally posted thinking it was new. It also explains why no one had made the obvious Toy Story 3 reference since that movie came out a couple of years AFTER the original post. I'd say "don't I feel stupid?", but that's a pretty common feeling anyway - but I'm with you on the thread resurrections (not a fan of those - which makes me doubly embarrassed). In any event, I think we can assume that Fisher Price sent the replacement and all is well - lock it down.
