Over the years, we've stayed at many of the places up and down Harbor and Katella. We stayed the past five nights at our family's new favorite - The Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites. We felt it was far superior in every way to the others along Harbor. In fact, it was sad this morning to eat our last breakfast there and have to check out.

With two tall boys (16 and 20), we have to stay at places with more than two beds. At the Best Western, we had a room with two queens and a sofa sleeper. The room was quite large by most hotel standards. There was a good-sized area outside of the bathroom that had a sink, a long counter top, a closet, and space for suitcases. There was a large and very clean refrigerator, plus a microwave. Every aspect of our room was clean and well-maintained. We liked that they had a pre-printed slip to report any issues with the room. You just had to fill it out and drop it at the front desk. We didn't need to use it, but it seemed like a quick and easy way to point out anything that needed to be fixed while we were out. Housekeeping always left us plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc.

The air conditioner cooled the room quickly. We would switch it to high when we entered the room, then turn it down to low at night. The hotel itself was fairly quiet. Our room was next to the ice machine and above the hotel laundry room. We never had issues with noise from either. In fact, we never even heard other guests unless we were in the hallways. One morning around 6:30 a.m., I heard a shower turn on in the next room. But I was in our bathroom about to turn the shower on too. We never heard anything from the sleeping area and were never awakened by any noise.

The breakfast was very good, compared to what most hotels offer. It was nice to have a few protein choices (egg patties, sausage or ham, yogurt), along with bagels, toast, cereal, donuts, etc. We never had an issue with finding a table when we went up for breakfast. The eating areas were kept clean and the food was kept well-stocked.

Since we had no issues, we only dealt with the front desk during check-in and check-out. They employees were friendly and efficient. Our check-in clerk told us where to park for the easiest access to an elevator near our room. As with most hotels along Harbor, the parking can be a little tight. You get a pass to hang on your rearview mirror and an access card to open the gate to the parking lot. Luckily, we found a good space when we arrived and did not need to move our car until we checked-out.

The proximity to the front gates is about as good as it gets. It was great for the one day we decided to take an afternoon nap and return to the park later. Yesterday, our older son decided he wanted a break and it was very easy for him to walk back to the room and then join us later at DCA. The price was right too. We got the AAA rate of $161.00 per night (plus a $10 parking fee). Wi-Fi was free and worked well.

We had a wonderful stay and an amazing trip to DL. I can't wait to start planning the next one!

I'm glad to read this. I am a diehard onsite fan, and I love staying at the Disney hotels when it is possible to do so. However, I am seriously looking into Good Neighbor options for the near future, and I had kind of mentally narrowed the field down to two choices -- either Candy Cane Inn or Best Western Park Place Inn. I have consistently read good things about both places, but BWPPI seems to have a slightly better location.

It's one of our two faves as well. I give a slight nod to Park Vue Inn only because I like the breakfast better (fresh fruit & waffles) but BWPPI is 99% as good.
There's one thing that can make BWPPI even better though and that's the one time we got one of the three front rooms that look directly onto Harbor. What a treat to be able to look out the window and into the park!

Yes!! We always stay at the BWPPI. We love how close it is and the free breakfast is great. Lots of options to keep everyone in my family happy. We've always had great stays at this hotel and will continue to stay there!! :thumbsup2

We always stay at the BWPPI when staying off site. We really like how close it is to the parks, clean rooms and friendly staff.
