Our multi-destination trip will begin on April 26th.

Thanks for reading, we are there in HHI right now, hope you read on. Thanks again

Day 8:

Well today is the last day in St. Augustine and we were contemplating staying a few more days but decided to move on to our next destination. This town just feels like a home away from home to us.
We got ready and went to the beach to just sit back, relax and listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean. It is our happy place for sure. After a few hours of relaxation we decided to get back to our condo since the clouds started to roll in.
As we sat in the screened in porch the skys opened up and it began raining. We had thought that it would be nice to walk the 10 blocks to the Beachcomber restaurant but as the rain fell we decided we had better drive.

We got ready for dinner and drove to the Beachcomber. This is a great locals restaurant right on the beach. The food is great, the employees that work there are just normal down to earth guys and gals and it is just a very cool beach front restaurant with a bar, it is not a posh place just a great place with great food. Well the food was great, our server was great and the owner stopped by the table to say hi. We love this place, as a matter of fact I have a great photo that I purchased at one of the outdoor farmers market of the Beachcomber in my bookcases in my piano room at home, that’s how special this place is to us. So glad it has not changed at all. Oh yeah did I mention the prices for such good food is amazing, you can’t beat this place.

After dinner we headed back to the condo and were sad that tomorrow we would be leaving and making the almost 4 hour drive to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, to continue our 18 day a trip.

Day 9:

We woke up early to pack and get ready for the drive to HHI. Leaving St. Augustine was sad. It brought back such great memories from when we had our place here. But I guess all good things come to an end. It was time to hit the road.

After almost 4 hours we made it to Brigantine Quarters in the Shipyard guarded community. There, we will be staying for the remainder of our trip.

We are staying in a two bedroom condo with pond and golf course views. All the vegetation does not even give a hint that we are in a beach community, but just two blocks away are miles of beautiful beaches.

Hilton Head Island is a beautiful town in South Carolina, with much vegetation and beauty. For many years the towns planning board has protected all the trees and bushes to leave a very Nature loving town. There are pleanty of walking, biking and Jogging trails, and numerous Golf courses. Alligators, squirrels and Deer are in abundance. Many different species of birds can be found here also. Well not to mention the beaches too.

We unpacked and felt getting back in the car was not in the cards (a vegas thing you know). We stayed in and ordered pizza, salad and a sub from a local restaurant that delivers. After regretting our dinner order, which was not that good, we thought it best to just stay in and watch tv. We will begin our trip to HHI tomorrow.

Watching television when on vacation is not something we normally do when we go away and most vacations we never turn a tv on, but this time we just did not want to get back in the car. We were exhausted, from the drive so we retired to get an early start at the beach tomorrow.

Day 10:

Got up early and had breakfast. Got ourselves ready and off to the beach. Brigantine Quarters condos are one of the few places in Shipyard that has a gate out of the complex and a (short) two block walk to the sandy beach. There is also a hotel called the Sonesta which is in the Shipyard division, we prefer to drive there (about a two minute drive). There is parking, bathrooms, restaurants, and a beautiful beach to just relax on. As a Shipyard resident you can use their facilities for free I believe you just can not use the pools. That is not a problem since Brigantine Quarters has two pools for the residence. We spent hours on the beach. The weather was just beautiful.
Soon it was time to head back to our place to get ready for dinner. Tonight we have a reservation at Pomodori an Italian restaurant just out of the gates of Shipyard. We have never eaten there before but the reviews were great.
We arrived at the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. We gave our name and were seated immediately. This is not a large place but with the space they had it was very impressive. Our waiter was great, the food was amazingly good, we had a great dinner in a really nice place. This is a keeper.. we spoke to the couple next to us who was from Pennsylvania and they had been to this restaurant many times and said its one of their favorites. I can see why.
After dinner we stopped at the grocery store to get some needed supplies and went home. We relaxed for a few hours and went to bed early since tomorrow will be the last day of sunshine. Looks like every day after tomorrow will be raining. This must be a huge storm to be raining every day for over a week.
Just a word of advice, when going to Hilton Head Island, you need to treat dining the same way you do when you go to Disney World, plan ahead and make reservations. We usually make reservations a month or more ahead. The first time we came here we did not do that and we could not get into hardly any restaurants. You know what that feels like when you go to WDW. You can make switches when you arrive if the time is available but you need to plan ahead.

Day 11:

Well oddly enough the forecast for the rest of our trip (one week left) is rain every day. Woke up to clouds and as the morning progressed the skies grew darker and darker. We may be checking flights to leave and go home earlier than our scheduled time since back home is the usual weather, SUNNY AND HOT.

Yep not much to tell you today. Its 2:44 in the afternoon and the skies are black. Rain should be any minute.

I guess the one thing I can tell you is, it is not often we see rain in Vegas. Maybe just a few times a year in. Our weather men at home have an easy job, “TODAYS WEATHER IS SUNNY” “TOMORROWS WEATHER IS SUNNY” IN FACT DITTO FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH. When you plan a BBQ weeks in advance you can rest asure it will not rain. And if we do have a rainy day, it is the headline story on the Las Vegas local news. “TODAY FOLKS WE EXPERIENCED RAIN, WE GO TO JILL LILLITH IN NORTH LAS VEGAS TO SHOW YOU WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE” honey, come quick, I have the news on and they are going to show rain, hurry get in here you don’t want to miss it. NOW BACK TO YOU, BOB. No joke….

Well sorry but thats the best I can come up with.

We have dinner reservations at Frankie Bones. A restaurant that every time we come to Hilton Head Island we have to at least go once. This time we have two different day reservations for this restaurant. It is one of our favorite.

We elected to go for the early dining specials which are very reasonable and many items to choose from. Dinner was amazing.

Tonight we have tickets to the Play Waitress at the Arts Center. we have gone to a play there almost every time we have come to HHI.

Okay, the actors were amazing, the singing was amazing they are all so talented, the story line had a lot to be desired. But all in all it was entertaining. Afterwards we went home and relaxed before retiring for the evening. The next few days show no signs of the rain letting up.

Day 12:

Today we do not have dinner reservations since we had leftovers. So we went to the beach, came home relaxed and had leftovers. Watched a movie and went to bed. Short and sweet.

Day 13:

To our pleasant suprise, we woke up to sunshine. Checking the weather report it shows partly cloudy until 2pm. So off to the beach we went. It was sunny and beautiful. Then the clouds started to roll in around 2pm but we were happy that we got in a bonus day, one we never thought had. There is just something about sitting in a chair on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves, that is just so relaxing.

Tonight we have dinner reservations at a Thai restaurant called Smile Cuisine. We had reservations at a different restaurant tonight but we changed it since it was Italian food and while I am Italian and love Italian food we just wanted something different. We have never been to his Thai restaurant but it has great reviews. We have a Thai restaurant back home that we go to often and love it.

We have about an hour and a half before we have to get ready for our dinner reservation and the skies opened up and the rain came down in buckets along with lots of loud thunder. Haven’t heard that much thunder in many years living in Vegas, nor do we see rain like that ever in Vegas. At home if it rained that hard there would be flash flood warning all over, your phone would be going off due to the emergency. The ground is mostly rock and there is no place for the water to seep into so we get flash floods. When we first moved to Vegas homes and people would get carried away and killed or destroyed. Since then they have built washes all over the city to catch the water and not cause damage. We still get flooding but it is not as bad as it once was.

The rain did stop just before we had to leave for dinner.

Just got back from the restaurant. The food and service was just great. We really wanted to go back again before we leave town since it was so good. Well we have been doing pretty good this trip picking enjoyable restaurants. We are still not sure if we are going to leave early and go home, it is supposed to rain every day we have left. We will see. Time to relax and watch a movie.

Loving the updates! We'll have to try Smile Cuisine next time we're down. I love Thai but our nearest restaurant closed.

Day 14:

Well good thing for the weather report for the second day was WRONG! Lucked out with another great beach day. No rain today even though yesterday they predicted rain every day so far and yesterday it did rain but later in the afternoon after a beautiful day at the beach. Today again it was just beautiful and if it wasn’t for the fact we had early dining at Wise Guys we would have stayed on the beach after 3pm.

We left and went back to the condo to get ready for dinner at Wise Guys. This will be the first time going there. It does have very good reviews and oddly enough it is right next door to Frankie Bones one of our favorite restaurants, which we did go to the other day.

Walked into Wise Guys and the place has a really nice vibe. We were seated at a booth in the bar room area, which we asked for. We had a 4:30 reservation for the early dining specials which is half the price of the main menu. Our server was just great, and when we got our food it was amazing. Well so far we are batting a thousand. Every restaurant we picked to eat at in Hilton Head Island has been great. Food and service. Well Frankie Bones server held alot to be desired (as many times we have been there we never experienced this before) he still wasn’t bad, just made you feel, “we are not friends so just order and quit the small talk because I am not interested in being your friend” unlike our server at Wise Guys, she was very personable. Dinner was delicious. SCORE, another great choice.

Afterwards we went home and staring right in front of us are the two bicycles I ordered to use while we were here and we never even looked at them yet. We decided this would be a good time to take the bicycles out for a ride. With in a few minutes my wife fell off the bike and we were finished for the night. She did not get hurt to bad just sore and a bit shaken. We need to keep reminding ourselves that we are not spring chickens anymore. A young girl who was out jogging came running over and helped me get my wife off the ground. So you can guess that was it for the evening bike ride. Oh well another time, glad she did not get badly hurt.

Well time to find a movie and call it a night. Hope the weather forcasters are bad at predictions again tomorrow. Even for a few hours at the beach would be nice. It does say rain all day. It did say that the last few days too and how wrong they were.

On a side note, there are many Disney Vacation Club Members (DVC) that read these reports and may not have had thoughts of going to one of Disneys resorts that do not have a park, like Vero Beach or Hilton Head Island. Disney would not have thought of putting a resort with their name on it if it wasn’t a special place for you and your family. We have been to Vero Beach and Hilton Head Disney owned Resorts and they are very special places. Each one is a different experience and what they all do have in common, THEY ARE AN ADVENTURE. The cast members there go above and beyond to make sure your vacation is an amazing one, so give them a chance to make yours special. (No I am not a paid advertiser this is from my personal experience)

Day 15:

Well the forecasters were right. It is raining and raining hard. The skies are dark and the thunder is roaring. I had planned a nice Mothers Day brunch at Ela’s restaurant on Sunday afternoon but I received an email from them that due to the forecast they may not be able to accommodate us since we did pick outside and they are full inside and can not switch us. My wife is looking into leaving tomorrow, I am okay with that. So far we have had a great relaxing vacation, leaving early would not be disappointing. Sometimes you go on vacation and when you return home you need another vacation just to recover from the one you just had. Not the case this time. As we get older we realize how much we can do in a day and we don’t push it. This tends to be a very relaxing and pleasant time away from home. When we return home we only have a week there and we leave for Disneyland for 4 days and a week in Newport Beach. This trip we will be driving not flying.

Tonight is dinner at Charbar. We did eat there the last time we were in town and was not crazy about it but we decided to give it a try since we did cancel our Frankie Bones reservation, we love Frankie Bones but we were really in the mood for a good burger and the Charbar now had good ratings. After dinner we have reservations at the Comedy club, Comedy Magic Cabaret with Kerry Pollock. He is the owner of his own comedy club and last time we were in town we went to his show and I never and I mean NEVER laughed so much and so hard. This guy is amazing.

Okay Charbar was much better this time and the service was really good but bring a winter coat, the place was freezing.

The tickets we purchased was mid stage view booth. This theater is small and honestly there is not a bad seat in the house but I do prefer a booth. The show did not disappoint. This guy is so fast with his comebacks and not a dirty joke at all. If you are coming to HHI I highly recommend going to his show. He does have other comedians on some nights but we made sure we took a night he was the act. You will have the time of your life. The whole place was in an up roar of laughter from the time he started to the end. Just a really entertaining time. They do offer food and drinks and they do have servers. Just a great night out. The show starts at 8pm we arrived before 7:30 and the place was full already.

After the show it was back to our place and get ready for a nights sleep. Yes we did decide to just stick with our plans and not leave a few days early.

Day 16:

Today the weather forecasters were right, it rained all day. Tonight we have dinner at Black Marlin Bayside Grill. We arrived for our reservation on time and were seated immediately. The server was nice. We ordered from the early dining menu which again is half the price of the main menu. Food was okay, this would not really be a choice for our next time in HHI. After dinner we went back to our place and watched another movie. Tomorrow is our last full day for this part of our vacation.

On Tuesday we fly back home and we are there for a week and then its off to Disneyland for 4 days and a week in Newport beach.

Loving the updates! We'll have to try Smile Cuisine next time we're down. I love Thai but our nearest restaurant closed.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Food was great at this restaurant. We got lucky and found some really good restaurants this trip. I am now in Disneyland and afterwards spending a week in New Port Beach but I will only write a report on our Disneyland experience. I found that this report with three destinations was just to long and too much information, not for me to write, but for anyone to sit down and read. So again thank you. Hope you read my new post in the DVC Trip Report section.

Day 17
Not much to say. It rained, we did not go to dinner tonight, we stayed home and packed for our trip back home tomorrow. We had a great trip. Longer than we usually have and we had a great time. We hit some great restaurants and just a very few not so. We did everything we wanted to and if we forgot something we will do it the next time around.

Day 18
The flight home was an easy 6 hours with one stop over. Next week we will be driving to Disneyland and staying in the Disneyland Hotel. Then staying in Newport Beach. After this long winded report I have decided to just do a DVC Trip Report of Disneyland and not talk about Newport Beach. Just to long of a report. I thank everyone for reading and hope you continue to read mine and other trip reports. So for me its time to say good-buy to all our company. M.I.,C see you real soon K.E.Y. Why because we like you…M.O.U.S.E. Hope your vacations are special. Good night.
