Our Magical Mulligan Trip!!

Your DS is tooooo cute!!! :thumbsup2

I love the the way he hams it up for the camera (kinda tilts his head to the side), he and my DD8 must be kindred cousins cuz she does the exact same thing and has since she was three!

Great installment BTW! :cool1:

Thanks Tasha...glad to see I still have your company! :teeth: I gotta get my act together and get another day posted...all this work and holiday stuff are really interfering in my trip reporting!!

It was an EMH morning at MK and I didn’t want to miss it. I had no idea HOW we were going to get there for it though. My guys are not morning people, especially at Disney World. They’d sleep till 10am if I let them. By 7am I’m pacing the room worried that we’re “burning daylight”. Miraculously they’re up early and cooperative. Guess it was worth a couple of slow days to get them up early in the morning. I was grateful for not having to pull my Mominator persona out on them just to get them up and dressed. It would have been ugly...

Now I’ve had visions in my head of bringing DS to the MK for morning extra magic hours and having the place practically to ourselves. And in those visions, there were lots of characters – riding the rides and playing with the children and smiling, happy parents all around. Makes me think of the B-52's...."Shiny, happy people holding hands..."

Well, ok, so there weren’t a lot of people at the MK that morning, which was nice. We hit Fantasyland first. The longest wait we had was on Dumbo, of course, and it was only MAYBE 5 minutes. I met a really nice lady on the Dumbo line who was there for Mousefest. She said her husband was a Dis’er, but I don’t recall whether or not she told me what his screen name was. We did manage to snag a lime green Dumbo in honor of the DISboards!
100_3811.jpg

After riding Dumbo, DS wanted to hit the tea cups again so off we went. Nothing like a good spin to get the adrenaline going in the morning! After that we decided to head for Tomorrowland before it got too crowded although it wasn’t even 8:30 yet, which was nice. We decided that the 3 of us would hit the Indy Speedway and race. DS and DH vs. Me. The CM’s wouldn’t put us on different lanes though so DS and DH were in the car behind me. I was guaranteed the win, but Michael still gave it his best shot at beating me and was generally surprised that he and his Daddy lost!
100_3821.jpg

After the Speedway we stopped by the grandstand viewing area for a bit of coffee and nicotine and met the nicest older gentleman who was sweeping up. He started talking with Michael and goofing around with him and pulled a few Mickey stickers out of his pocket. He really was a sweet man - DH and I even enjoyed talking with him and Michael thought he was some kind of undercover dream squad member because he had stickers. It was cute. After our little break we headed over to try our luck at defeating the evil Emporer Zurg again. There was no wait – it was awesome - we walked right on. I got 61,000 this time – getting better! This one is addicting. I immediately wanted to go right back on. Just can’t get enough of this one. And thanks to Utahmama, I had to keep trying to get these pictures until I got them right...Yep...the trick is to not use the flash! ;)
100_3828.jpg

There was still no sign of a soft opening yet at the Laugh Floor, but I did read that they started having soft openings right after we left for home a couple days later. Of course.

Michael and I hit Astro Orbiter one more time while DH got us some more coffee and then the 3 of us went to try and catch Stitch. I swear, the chili dog smell just grosses me out! After yet another torturous episode of “I Want That” in the store so conveniently placed at the Stitch exit, we decided to head over toward Liberty Square. Michael got to meet PUSH the talking trash can, which was pretty funny. PUSH was right outside the Stitch “exit-cleverly-disguised-as-a-store” talking to some other children when we noticed him. It took us a few minutes of wondering where the CM was that was doing his voice and then DH saw him – cleverly disguised as a tourist. So what did DH do? Said matter-of-factly-and-fairly-loudly “Hey look – there’s the guy doing the voice”. I’m trying to remember if anyone in the crowd looked our way as if to throw small darts at him, but I don’t think so. Maybe I was the only one who heard it.:sad2:

DH has a knack of saying things out loud that he shouldn’t. Like if we’re having a conversation that I don’t want Michael to understand, I will spell the words. So our conversation goes a little something like this:

Me – I got that thing we were talking about
DH – What thing?
Me – You know, that THING we were talking about for X-M-A-S?
DH – WHAT?
Me – The a-i-r-h-o-c-k-e-y-t-a-b-l-e
DH – (trying to make sense of what I just spelled) and then says (out loud of course) OH the air hockey table!
Me – Nice. Real nice.:headache:

As we were trying to talk Michael into leaving, PUSH turned his attention to Michael, who was wowed and amazed that PUSH knew his name and everything.
100_3838.jpg

"WHOA...IT KNOWS MY NAME!!!"

And in like what seems to be the case with every small child who talks to PUSH, Michael felt compelled to hug him, errr....it, at the end of their “conversation”. And without PUSH asking to be hugged as a matter of fact. I don’t even remember what it was that PUSH was saying to him, but all of a sudden Michael threw open his arms and hugged that can so tight. It was cute. Yes, Michael, this is Disney World…even the garbage cans are magic.
100_3839.jpg

On our walk through Fantasyland there were now all kinds of characters out and about and even though it was after 9, it really wasn’t crowded yet. DS had decided to be shy – I did mention he’s not a morning person, right? The last thing he wants to do is be too sociable before say noon-ish, so the brand new, expensive “I’ll-Just-Die-If-I-Don’t-Have-This” autograph book ended up staying in the stroller with DS, who flat out refused to even get out. I got my picture taken with the Mad Hatter who weirded Michael out a bit. Or maybe it was me...the outfit, in retrospect, should have been reserved for one of those "hang around the hotel and do laundry" days!

We continued our way through Fantasyland with DS still refusing to get out of the stroller. He said no to seeing Donald Duck and Snow White and we went straight through to the Haunted Mansion. Are they putting Fastpass in at HM? They had something going on at the entrance.

We took a cruise on the Liberty Belle. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been aboard her. I like the views from the riverboat and took some great pictures...
100_3845.jpg

I wish I'd waited like one more second for the boat to come down just a bit more, but I like this shot of BTMR...
100_3852.jpg

And this last one of Gracie Mansion...
100_3864.jpg

On our slow cruise by the HM, I filled DH's head with all kinds of useless trivia about the original inspiration for the HM being on the market not too long ago, etc.

I swear, the guy's eyes just glaze right over when I try to "enlighten" him about little known matters of the Dis. Some people just have no appreciation for these kinds of things. Like when I filled him with the knowledge that the Pizza Planet truck actually appeared in Finding Nemo...the look on his face was actually painful. Go figure. I for one, find stuff that FASCINATING!! :3dglasses

The boys enjoyed it and by the time we disembarked from our little cruise it was nearly 11:30 so we took a chance and luckily got a table for lunch at LTT. DH and I got burgers, which were pretty good and DS got Mac & Cheese. He’s not a big fan of Stouffer’s Mac & Cheese so needless to say he didn’t eat much. I ate way too much for lunch – we have to head off to Frontierland to walk it off!! We did manage to catch the Country Bears, which we didn’t get to do last time. I heard several people complaining about there not being a Christmas bear show this year, but I’ve never seen it so I can’t have an opinion on what we missed, but we enjoyed it. I used to just love seeing the bears as a kid and I admit as corny as it is, I still enjoy it. I just adore Big Al...
100_3873.jpg

We rode POTC and hit BTMR again and decided to head over to MGM so we could catch the parade that afternoon.

We walked over to the Contemporary’s bus stop – yep, just can’t get enough of walking!! In truth, I was hoping by some miracle we’d see our brick in the walkway, but no such luck.

We met Coachswife on the bus. She was a sweetheart. She said that she wanted to Fock me, but wasn’t sure if she should and once she saw my user name on my LGMH hanging on our bag she recognized who I was. She’s read my TR. We chatted a bit about the boards and LGMH’s and she had her mother or MIL with her, who knew about Focking as well and we all had a good laugh about it. She doesn’t post much, but she lurks, so Coachswife, if you’re reading this I hope you enjoy this picture with your daughter…I think it came out really great.
100_3901.jpg

We arrived at MGM around 3:15 – bummed that we’d missed the 3:00 parade, but luckily the 3:00 parade doesn’t start at 3:00 so we arrived just in time to end up with a great spot on the corner and luckily right next to who we believe were some off duty CM’s. They were yelling and clapping at all of the characters, and all of the parade characters seemed to know them and we had some great interaction where we were. I thought Michael was going to LOSE HIS LITTLE MIND when the Power Rangers came up to him...dumb luck getting this picture...I had planned and aimed to get one of the Red Ranger and DS "fist punching", but didn't realize I had the camera zoomed in. But hey - I can point out Michael's knuckles to him on the left side of the picture! I don't know what it is about the Red Ranger...none of my pictures of the 2 of them have come out right!! None! :confused3
100_3934.jpg

We sat DS up on top of a trash can and he had a great view.
100_3926.jpg

DH also had a great view of all the lovely holiday dancing girls! I kept trying to get their attention and point to him and finally one winked and blew a kiss with a little wave and it totally made his day.
100_3939.jpg

Nothing of course even close to my Mario encounter, but hey – as far as I was concerned we were now even. And no, he didn’t want to see the picture of Mario and me again. Go figure….

Ok, I'm going to end this installment now and start a new post before I get the "too many pictures warning". And I haven't been able to resize my pictures within my posts, so I'm hoping they're not HUGE.

After the parade we made our way over to see the Muppets 3D show. It was cute. Nothing I’d go rushing back to see, like Philharmagic or It’s Tough to be a Bug, but still cute all the same. I was hoping to get pictures of the 2 old guys in the balcony. What are their names again? Stadtler and Waldorf or something? I can’t remember. There’s 2 cranky old electricians on my jobsite that I once told they reminded me of these 2 guys so I was hoping to get a picture to hang up in the trailer, but their curtain closed before the lights came up. Bummer!

We wandered around a bit more. Went to see Buzz and Woody. Again. But this time the Green Army Men were out – we hadn’t seen them before. They were funny. Great with the kids and making mischief in general – stealing strollers and driving themselves around in them, etc. One of them was like the Pied Piper – he had all these little kids lined up and marching and even had one or two of them drop and do push-ups. It was cute. DS watched like he was eager to play along, but for some reason he didn’t want to participate. He’s funny like that.
100_3291.jpg

After our visits with Buzz and the gang, we went to see One Man’s Dream. All three of us really enjoyed looking around at all of the memorabilia and just as we were about to walk in and see the movie, we heard those magic words…”I gotta go poopies”. Eeeek! We left quickly to go find a bathroom and DH took DS into the men’s room. They appeared shortly thereafter with DS shaking his head “no”. The “poopie window had closed. So not only did we miss the One Man’s Dream film, but the poopie window was closed and the poopies could now rear their ugly head at us some time again in the near future. OMD will definitely be our list for next time…I could have spent hours in there. Very enjoyable.
100_3292.jpg

Now it was starting to get windy and cold. I took my sweatshirt off and put it over DS’s legs in the stroller to get him a bit warmer. I just needed him to make it through until about 7. Not even. I wanted to see the Osbourne lights and Fantasmic, but I think we’ll skip Fantasmic this trip. I’m really trying to take it easy on DS since he hasn’t been feeling well and it’s so darn cold and windy, those bleachers are the last place I want to bring him at this point.
100_3294.jpg

Shots from the Backlot Tour....Here comes the water in Catastrophe Canyon!!
100_3031.jpg

A wall of water coming right at us!! I love hearing the terrified shrieks of people riding this for the first time when they see this...:lmao:
100_3032.jpg

Michael wanted to go on Star Tours one last time so Tony went to get coffee while waiting for us. It was too late when I remembered the big Star Wars toy in the store at the exit. Uh oh. This was not going to end well. I could see it already. Rafael was our guide again on Star Tours. Just love CM’s that get into their jobs and make it more fun for everyone else. And yep….just as I had feared, Michael remembered the toy and just used the ride as an excuse to get me into the store. The kid’s much smarter than I initially gave him credit for…I had planned on getting the toy for him, but again he DEMANDED that I buy it for him and so, thanks to his smart mouth and a little magic, his Christmas list just got shortened by one toy. :wizard:
100_3037.jpg

100_3984.jpg

The lights on the other hand, were fabulous. It was a horror getting through there though with the stroller. DH had put Michael up on his shoulders, but eventually we needed to move through the crowd, which came to a complete stop every 2-1/2 to 3 feet. Next time I think I’d consider turning the stroller in before checking the lights out again. I was sorry they weren’t steadily on, as it would have been nice to leisurely walk through and admire them. Once the lights had gone out for the music to start it was hard to get through the crowd.

I’m babbling.

I’m tired.

I’m sorry.

Anywhooo….we went back to the Poly to change into some warmer clothes and go in search of dinner. We got lucky and got into Kona with only a ½ wait, if that. We’d gone downstairs and sat at the tables outside of Captain Cook’s, while DS “ooh’ed” and “ahh’d” over the games in the arcade. I didn’t take a picture of him (or her), but while DH and I were sitting at the table, out of the greenery came a really pretty black and white cat, which was a bit odd. And totally un-afraid of us and friendly. Anyone else see this cat? :confused3

Anywho, just after the cat disappeared into the plants again, our pager for dinner went off. Perfect timing. Dinner was awesome, as it was when we ate here back in February – also without ADR’s. For those of you who read Our Magically Dysfunctional Gathering, the three of us ended up at Kona the day Cruella and Horace had that big fight over whether or not he’d fallen asleep in the Hall of Presidents and she stormed off on him. They left us saddled with all their stuff the rest of the night. Unfortunately, cash was not amongst the stuff they left us with! Anyway, no big point to this. Just that this was the 2nd time we’ve been lucky enough to eat at Kona, without ADR’s, and the food was awesome. Actually better this time…in fact the menu seemed a bit different, but it could have been just me.

DH and I started out with the pot stickers and wings – both of which were very yummy and DS had a hot dog. Hard to screw up a hot dog, but he loved it. DH and I also got the prime rib for dinner and it was really good. A nice surprise. We split a piece of the white chocolate cheesecake afterward….DELICIOUS!! I got DH to try a Lapu Lapu and used V’s line to reel him in….Mai tai suggest something in a pineapple? He agreed and we ordered a couple – mine, in particular, went down very, very quickly…SLURRRRPPPP. :drinking1

Me – Are you gonna finish that?
DH – Apparently not. Go ahead.

I’m thinking about now that DH was adding up these $12.00 drinks in his head too! Love you honey…oh, and for the record folks, DH read my last installments and has a statement:

“I don’t count the number of drinks she has, but YES I notice the cost on the bill at the end of the night”….:rolleyes1

Thanks for stopping by. Still love you. Still mean it.

We got out of dinner just in time to catch Holiday Wishes on the beach and then it was off to our room for bath and bed for Michael. It seemed that this Wishes was a bit shorter than the one we’d seen the other night. I wondered if the crazy wind had anything to do with it. Or maybe it was the pineapples…$12.00, $24.00, $36.00…

I’d wanted to jump on the monorail and go to the GF and the Contemporary just to wander around and check out their decorations but it was just so cold that all we wanted to do was get back to the room. Anyone see anything wrong with that last sentence? Ok, a couple of things. First things first…it was too cold. V called it weeks ago, didn’t she? I think she brings the weather with her. BUT it was the wind that made it feel much colder than it actually was, so I won’t flame my girl V…this time…ha…just kidding V. Love you, mean it!

Anyway, the second thing wrong with that sentence is that the 2 hotels I wanted to go to – the CR and GF – were on the monorail line. We wouldn’t be out in the actual weather for more than…what? Five minutes? And here I didn’t want to go anywhere because it was too cold. Living in NC has made me soft.:sad2:

When we got back to the room I made myself a drink and called my Nana to tell her about my meeting Mario Lopez. She loves him and watched DWTS (and voted) faithfully and when I’d told her he was supposed to be there it made her squeal with delight. Imagine her response when I told her that we met him and I got my picture taken with him. She shrieked like a school girl. :yay: It was too cute. And because she’s my Nana, faithful reader of the Enquirer and the Star and constant ET and Access Hollywood watcher, she knew that he’d been with Karina the week before for Thanksgiving so she was surprised that I told her Karina was nowhere to be seen. Believe me – if she was there, I’d have reported that too Nana. And Tony would have wanted his picture taken with HER…trust me…she was not there. :confused3

So of course, if you tell my Nana something, you have exactly 3.5 minutes (just enough time for her to scurry to the bathroom before getting on the phone again) to call my mother and tell her, otherwise, she’ll hear it from Nana, which is not cool. Once I got my mom on the phone and told her, she was clearly NOT as excited as Nana and I…her response was merely “OH. Wow. Well, you did say that you were going to stalk him.” I secretly wondered if maybe, just maybe, Nana didn’t necessarily HAVE to tinkle before she hit #1 on her speed dial. Hmmmm….How could mom not be as excited as us? :confused3

And another thing about telling my Nana something…it’s like the old telephone game…the story is out of control by the time it gets back to you again. :chat: I offer, as Exhibit A, the letter enclosed with our gifts from my (favorite) aunt, dated 12/14/06. Approximately a week after “the encounter” and the ensuing phone call to Nana. There was a paragraph in the letter that stated, and I quote, “So I hear you got to tango with Mario Lopez!?!?! Wow – that’s amazing. You’re so lucky! You always meet celebrities when you go to Disney – last time it was Kelly Ripa and her hubby right? You guys have all the luck to be meeting all the famous people” And now for any of you that don’t know about our last trip…Kelly Ripa was NOT very sociable. She turned her back to me, not that I was being some groupie or crazy Hollywood stalker. We ended up with our strollers parked right next to each other outside the Hall of Presidents and ended up face to face…she, looking completely miserable and *****y by the way, turned her back to me. I saw her in the MK a couple of times that last trip and not once did she look like she was at the happiest place on earth. :rolleyes1

Oh – and before I forget…was it just me, or did she look like she was TOTALLY faking each smile and comment at the Christmas parade? She looked (to me at least) as if every smile was forced. :rolleyes1

Calling it a day on this installment gang. Coming up next: Our big date night, Michael flies through Wendy’s window and it’s still TOO COLD…

Goodnight everyone...I have to make an early run to RDU to pick up DH's other brother who's flying in early in the morning...hopefully his presence won't affect my Dis'ing!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, Festivus....etc...etc...no matter how you celebrate, and no matter you how you spell it - in my case, incorrectly - I hope it was full of magic for you all!!!:wizard:
LY, MI!!!

Firstly – way to go on not only scoring a lime green Dumbo, but a Dumbo pic in which you’re both recognizable! DH didn't take take that one, did he?!:rotfl2:

Yay, you met Coachswife! What a couple of cuties she and her DD are.

It’s so crazy how much one day can differ from another at WDW. We hit the Osborne lights 12/5 and, while there were plenty of people there, there was still lots and lots of room to move around and get up close to the buildings. I swear, even with Tour Guide Mike or the Unoffical Guide, it often just comes down to random chance. Bummer, but glad you got to experience them!

You got some GREAT pictures!

I will say- when I saw Michael hugging the trash can, I could literally smell the stench from the trash can. :rotfl2:

:lmao: Too funny!! As a matter of fact, he DID take that one!! I totally forgot to write that in there - I meant to and will have to make special note of it. I think I hurt his feelings with my first post about his picture taking abilities...I really should give credit where credit is due!!:thumbsup2

Yay, you met Coachswife! What a couple of cuties she and her DD are.

She was a cutie...and so sweet...it was a pleasure meeting her and talking with her - you'd like her!

Just another reason to love Disney – something for everyone!:cutie:
Had I not been so busy taking pictures, I would have given him some singles to wave in the air - he was enjoying them almost too much for a family environment!!! :lmao:

They really were awesome...totally worth the freezing and the taking the ankle-stroller hits!!

Bwah hah hah hah!!

He was so funny...WHAT?!?! TWELVE DOLLARS?!?!? Yeah, but honey they come in really BIG pineapples!! There must be at least TWO drinks in one...so if you think about it, they're only SIX BUCKS a drink...much cheaper than when I order $9.00 Jack & Coke's....I really SAVING us money if you think about it!! Love you!!puckerup:

I am in awe of your forecasting abilities...it's scary. Like you have ESPN or something!!:worship:

My good buddy PrincessV brought something to my attention that I must make known to all who read my previous posts....

Regarding the photo of DS and myself in the lime green Dumbo...Photo credit goes to my DH...yep, DH took that one...crystal clear. NOT, I repeat NOT blurry...

I needed to go on record and give him credit for this one!!!:thumbsup2

And now, back to our regularly scheduled broadcast...:happytv:

You got some GREAT pictures!

I will say- when I saw Michael hugging the trash can, I could literally smell the stench from the trash can. :rotfl2:

You know, when DS was investigating, or should I say "violating" PUSH, I could have sworn I saw a plastic bag in there...think anyone dumped trash in there not knowing?!?!? :confused3 :rotfl:

Oh and notice the look on the face of the lady in the background? She looks like she's thinking "What kind of mother let's her child HUG a trash can and takes pictures of it..."

She probably went home and bashed me to her little bridge club gang!!

Are drinks really $12. Wow, I really need to up the anti on our money change jar.

Are drinks really $12. Wow, I really need to up the anti on our money change jar.

I'm pretty sure that just the Lapu Lapu's were $12. At least that's what they were on the Kona menu I think...I can check with DH though...for SURE he'll remember! :lmao:

Anyone else know for sure???:confused3

You know, when DS was investigating, or should I say "violating" PUSH, I could have sworn I saw a plastic bag in there...think anyone dumped trash in there not knowing?!?!? :confused3 :rotfl:

Actually, I saw kids putting garbage in PUSH while he was talking to my daughter in September. He's fun AND functional!

I thought this was funny and since I've got a "captive audience", I thought I'd share...

Poor DS has been unable to uhhh...poop, for several days. Poor little guy's been walking around like he's got a broom handle up his...back. He refuses to drink my special "poopie juice" to help him go. It's only Gerber pear juice, but it works like a charm.

DS tells me he doesn't want "poopie juice", that the poopies will come out on their own, when they're good and ready. DH all the while is teasing him asking him if he's "got a potato baking", etc...

Well last night Michael's in the bathroom and for several minutes he is grunting and groaning - sounded like he was in labor for crying out loud! So just as I'm asking him if he's alright, he starts yelling..."Mommy, mommy I made poopies!!" Come look! It's the biggest one EVER!!" :scared1: It's times like these when I remind myself that someday he'll have to wipe MY butt and that will be my payback...:rolleyes1

And so he has to show Daddy, who makes a big fuss over it and the 2 of them are going on and on about the SIZE of this thing...:confused3 Maybe it's a guy thing, I don't know, but I just don't get the big deal...

So I get Michael ready for bed and he's still going on and on about how big "the poopie" was (and no kidding....it was like a jumbo baked potato! So I ask him if it hurt and (finally here's what I've been leading up to), and this is how the rest of our conversation went...

DS - "No Mommy...it didn't hurt at all! You want to know what the secret is?"
Me - The secret?
DS - Yeah Mom...the secret.
Me - Well sure - what's the secret?
DS - Fear.
Me - Fear?
DS - Yep. Fear. Every poopie has a fear Mom and once you figure out what the fear is, you can scare the poopies out!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So remember that folks...if you ever uhhhh...can't go...

Every poopie has a fear. You just have to figure out what is....
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Are drinks really $12. Wow, I really need to up the anti on our money change jar.

Lucky for me, my "Swear Jar" adds up pretty quickly!! Between that and the DDE card, I should be ok in time for the next trip!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
