Day 1 Sunday
After getting up at silly (oh, I mean six) oclock we finally departed for the airport about 7am as our taxi was late. We picked up our friends (Jenny , Bruce and Hannah )on the way. We had used Air Frances e-check in so just had to deposit our cases so we had loads of time at the airport.
The flight was fine, I had made goodie bags for the girls (well the little girls anyway ) and they kept them entertained on the way. The grown ups were distracted with coffee and pastries.
We arrived on schedule, picked up our cases and went to find our Taxi (from RS Transport Thanks for the recommendation Mary Ellen
) . The driver was waiting for us with a sign with my name on it as arranged. Much better than our local service.
It took about 40 mins to get to the Marriot. I was sitting in the third row of seats with the girls and every time we passed a sign with Mickey on it we cheered. I think Bruce and Jenny thought I was a little odd ! Little did they know this was just the start of my Disney madness!!
The Marriot only had one room ready on arrival so we all traipsed along to it and opened the door of the very first townhouse of the resort - no 1001 . All we could say was WOW. The townhouses are gorgeous. You entered into a hall with wooden stairs to the right in our case / on the left in the Blackies case , which did get confusing when we went into each others. The hall also has doors leading to a cloakroom , a toilet and the main living area. The kitchen has a breakfast bar where you can view the main area and also a small utility room at the back, which we used to iron in.
The main living area had two large double windows looking out over the golf course. In the middle of these were a set of French doors which opened to a small patio area with a table and chairs. Back in the room was a large dining table with 8 seats with a large mirror on the wall over it. The other half of the room had a settee (which can turn into a bed) and two ornate armchairs , a coffee table and a TV, DVD and Hifi enclosed in a large wooden cabinet.
Upstairs was two bedrooms , one with twin beds , a built in wardrobe , a large set of drawers (we could only fill about 2 of the 8 ) bed side tables , lamps , alarm clocks and another TV. This we used as Jessicas room. Our room had a massive bed ,bedside cabinets , another alarm clock , a built in wardrobe and another TV in a cabinet. Off our room was an ensuite with the biggest bath have ever been in (Jessica could nearly swim in it
), two sinks and a separate room with the toilet and bidet. Between the two rooms was yet another toilet with a shower cubicle.
We often joked that we could all actually have had a toilet and TV each if wed so desired.
After nosing around oohing and aahing we checked our free bus schedule and caught the 2.15pm bus to the parks. Yippee !!
On arrival we headed into the village for a late lunch at King Ludwigs.
Next. Annual Passports and our first visit to the Parks !!
