Recently my DD11 has starting getting an allowance. We went to DL on Sunday and she decided, after much deliberation, to spend her first allowance on a blown glass unicorn at the Crystal Arts store on Main St. Lately she has wanted to stop in and "just look" everytime we go to DLR.
I used to collect blown glass unicorns and pegasuses (sp?) from DL as well, when I was younger. I still have some of them, though most have broken parts. I told her to be very careful since blown glass is very fragile.
Well...wouldn't you know it she came downstairs on Tuesday morning, tearly eyed, telling me that she'd been looking at her unicorn and had set it down and it fell over and broke it's neck and horn. I didn't even last 48 hours!
I told her that I was sorry it had broken but since we were going to DL on Wed, after school, we would check at Crystal Arts and see if it was repairable. When I was younger I had several of my larger unicorns fixed at DL. I was told as long as it was by the same artist, they could do it.
So, I wrapped up the little unicorn and promptly left it at home.
I decided to stop in at the store any way and ask the CM if they still did repairs. The CM was very nice and understanding and ask us to show her which one she had bought. We showed her and then....she said she would give her another one!
I was so happy that she did that and of course DD11 was estatic! She made sure that she wrapped it up very securely and we left the store with big smiles on our faces and thank yous coming from our lips. She didn't even ask me to show her the receipt. Now granted, it was one of the smaller unicorns, and wasn't all the expensive but she didn't have to do it and it was so nice that she did.
The CM told my DD to make sure she kept it in a safe location (away from cats and curious 2 y/o) and maybe she should put it in a case. She was just so kind, pleasant, and patient.
This week has actually been a very magical week for us. My fridge was found at POP after being MIA for 3-1/2 months (POP Fridge Swap) and DD got a new unicorn.
Just one of the many reason I love Disney! And their CMs too!
