HI!
The players...
Me - 42, mom,wife and teacher
DH
DS - 15
DS - 13
We all have APs on flex pay and this is our second visit this year.
We drove down from NC on Monday 7/5 and arrived in Orlando around 5 pm.
We ate at Boston Lobster Feast (DH loves it), $24.95 for early bird eclub members, and checked into Hampton Inn - S of Universal $39 per night using Travelzoo.com code.
Tuesday:
Had breakfast at Hampton at 6 am and then headed over to PBH at 7. I was surprised to see the boats running.
We had our luggage held and checked in to get our room keys. We headed to IOA at 7:25 pm. (Bay view room $219 AP rate - self parking $15 per night)
The boat had arrived but the line was long so we decided to try Bubba's Mom's short cut.
At 7:40 we were into IOA not a bad walk at all.
7:50 we arrive at WWoHP. I have been reading well really studying everyone's posts and know that we need to get to Ollivanders. The line is very doable so we jump into it. (DH went to the restroom and shot a video so I could hear MM. I will try to post it later)10 minutes later we were in...a teenage girl was chosen. (There were younger ones in there with us.) The Owl post was so crowded and my next mission was FJ so I quickly got out of there. I lost son #1 in the process. Make sure your whole party leaves together since you can't get back in to retrieve anyone.
He finally came out and we headed to FJ. The line was backed to the entrance sign but come to find out the delay is people trying to get lockers. I think that is one thing they can improve on...clearly have a line for people who need to use the lockers and the let the people who do not need a locker into the queue line. I was not understanding at first why some people were walking past us when we first got into the line.
Once we got into the queue we moved fast and as some other posters have said too fast that we weren't able to enjoy the rooms. We missed a lot since we did not stay in the rooms long enough to see everything. TMs were telling us muggles to keep moving.
The ride was awesome!
We then rode Hippogriff using our express pass. Walked right on...
DH and DS #2 rode DC and DS#1 and I got butterbeer from the cart. They only had one side open and then opened the other side right when we got there. We both got the frozen and it was yummy!
Went into the shops while we waited for them to ride DC. There were no line for Honeydukes/Zonkos.
The line for breakfast at 3 brooms was short. The hogshead tavern looked to be closed.
We had a picture made with the conductor and left the area because it was getting to be wall to wall people. It was 9:20 when we left.
Went to the Hulk and Spiderman. PBH called at 10:30 to say our room was ready.
We returned to the PBH via the shuttle. We were the only ones on it and it had AC.
Also you can sit and wait for the shuttle. The driver broke off the normal route and took us directly to PBH. (normally goes from the Park to RPR to PBH to HRH back to the park)
We got settled in our room and then headed to the pool.
We went to the Kitchen at HRH for a late lunch. (around 2) We had the chicken pot pie $13 x 2, huge bowl of Mac and cheese $12 and the sandwich of the day with either soup or salad $14. We had a coupon from orlandocoupons.com that gave us $10 off lunch or dinner. (soft drinks are $3 each
) While there we saw a flyer that they were having an early bird breakfast special. Their buffet was $12 from 6 to 7. Regular price is $17.95
We then checked out the pool at the HRH. It was very crowed and loud but what else would you expect at the Hard Rock?
We rode the boat over to the park and went to Universal.
We used our express pass to walk on MIB and then used our express pass to see Fear Factor Live. The shows that have express pass allow you to enter first and get the best seats. FYI TMs are now scanning hotel keys instead of just pressing the hotel key on their scanners.
We then went over to play some of the carnival games. Rode the mummy and HRRR. We used the bonus tracks on HRRR and loved the ride.
Went back to the PBH via the shuttle and again had the shuttle to ourselves and were taken directly to the hotel.
We had pizza from Sal's $14 each and watched a movie in the room $14.95)
More to come....
