HI!

The players...

Me - 42, mom,wife and teacher

DH

DS - 15

DS - 13

We all have APs on flex pay and this is our second visit this year.

We drove down from NC on Monday 7/5 and arrived in Orlando around 5 pm.

We ate at Boston Lobster Feast (DH loves it), $24.95 for early bird eclub members, and checked into Hampton Inn - S of Universal $39 per night using Travelzoo.com code.

Tuesday:

Had breakfast at Hampton at 6 am and then headed over to PBH at 7. I was surprised to see the boats running.

We had our luggage held and checked in to get our room keys. We headed to IOA at 7:25 pm. (Bay view room $219 AP rate - self parking $15 per night)

The boat had arrived but the line was long so we decided to try Bubba's Mom's short cut.

At 7:40 we were into IOA not a bad walk at all.

7:50 we arrive at WWoHP. I have been reading well really studying everyone's posts and know that we need to get to Ollivanders. The line is very doable so we jump into it. (DH went to the restroom and shot a video so I could hear MM. I will try to post it later)10 minutes later we were in...a teenage girl was chosen. (There were younger ones in there with us.) The Owl post was so crowded and my next mission was FJ so I quickly got out of there. I lost son #1 in the process. Make sure your whole party leaves together since you can't get back in to retrieve anyone.

He finally came out and we headed to FJ. The line was backed to the entrance sign but come to find out the delay is people trying to get lockers. I think that is one thing they can improve on...clearly have a line for people who need to use the lockers and the let the people who do not need a locker into the queue line. I was not understanding at first why some people were walking past us when we first got into the line.

Once we got into the queue we moved fast and as some other posters have said too fast that we weren't able to enjoy the rooms. We missed a lot since we did not stay in the rooms long enough to see everything. TMs were telling us muggles to keep moving.

The ride was awesome!

We then rode Hippogriff using our express pass. Walked right on...

DH and DS #2 rode DC and DS#1 and I got butterbeer from the cart. They only had one side open and then opened the other side right when we got there. We both got the frozen and it was yummy!
Went into the shops while we waited for them to ride DC. There were no line for Honeydukes/Zonkos.

The line for breakfast at 3 brooms was short. The hogshead tavern looked to be closed.

We had a picture made with the conductor and left the area because it was getting to be wall to wall people. It was 9:20 when we left.

Went to the Hulk and Spiderman. PBH called at 10:30 to say our room was ready.

We returned to the PBH via the shuttle. We were the only ones on it and it had AC.:thumbsup2 Also you can sit and wait for the shuttle. The driver broke off the normal route and took us directly to PBH. (normally goes from the Park to RPR to PBH to HRH back to the park)

We got settled in our room and then headed to the pool.

We went to the Kitchen at HRH for a late lunch. (around 2) We had the chicken pot pie $13 x 2, huge bowl of Mac and cheese $12 and the sandwich of the day with either soup or salad $14. We had a coupon from orlandocoupons.com that gave us $10 off lunch or dinner. (soft drinks are $3 each :sad2:) While there we saw a flyer that they were having an early bird breakfast special. Their buffet was $12 from 6 to 7. Regular price is $17.95

We then checked out the pool at the HRH. It was very crowed and loud but what else would you expect at the Hard Rock?

We rode the boat over to the park and went to Universal.

We used our express pass to walk on MIB and then used our express pass to see Fear Factor Live. The shows that have express pass allow you to enter first and get the best seats. FYI TMs are now scanning hotel keys instead of just pressing the hotel key on their scanners.

We then went over to play some of the carnival games. Rode the mummy and HRRR. We used the bonus tracks on HRRR and loved the ride.

Went back to the PBH via the shuttle and again had the shuttle to ourselves and were taken directly to the hotel.

We had pizza from Sal's $14 each and watched a movie in the room $14.95)

More to come....

I'm getting that exhausted feeling just reading this, but in a good way. Have a great time!

We slept in this morning...

We decided that we would do the meal deal at Universal. (19.95) I did hear from another guest that if you filled out a CC application by the parking deck you could get the meal deal 1/2 price.

We ate at Louie's at 1. The line was not bad. DH got the chicken Cesar salad and the rest of us got a slice of pizza with a side salad. We refilled our mugs that we got during our spring break visit. $0.79 less AP discount.

TIP: inside dining places will give the AP discount where the outside carts usually do not.

They are still offering the buy 2 get 1 free refill mugs ($6.99 each)

We went back for a second slice of pizza. There was no line...yeah!

Did learn a couple of things...you can get more than one slice at a time with the deal.... if you have a group that has meal deal you can get a whole pie...

DS #1 lost the back of his earring...he had gotten them pierced when he was on vacation with his dad....nice surprise :headache:

We went over to the gift shop for the mummy and bought cheap earrings to use the back....oops forgot that starters have a larger gauge..the back did not fit.

We rode the mummy...the express lane was the longest and slowest I had ever seen...took 30 minutes to get on the ride...

Checked with a TM to see if there was a place in City walk that pierced ears... The tattoo place does... we headed over there... since per his dad...his hole could closed at any moment..

They did have some rings...the ones he liked cost $ 25 each ...we found some cheaper ones and used our AP discount...

I'm pretty sure that all the places that we are using our AP discount would also give an AAA discount.

We go over to RPH to pool hop....we find some chairs and change in the restrooms...

about 30 minutes later everyone was kicked out of the pool...

Some ducks had done their business in the pool...

All the muggles were out of the pool for an hour and the ducks took advantage of an empty pool and swam around...

DS #2 enjoyed the water cannons...

Around 5 pm we changed and headed back to Universal....

We stopped at NBA city to get our 4 free tokens (daily) for having APs...the boys played a couple of games...

We ate at Mel's...there was no line...all of the entree's came with fries and we learned that we could substitute Onion Rings or get chilli cheese fries for no extra cost...

The boys went back to get more chilli cheese fries..

We rode Simpsons, MIB and HRRR before leaving to ride the shuttle back to PBH..

We got treats at Gelateria... Sundae $4.50

and called it a night...

DH and I get up early (5:45) and walk to HRH for breakfast $12 (6-7 am) which includes a drink plus they took off AP discount. It was a wonderful buffet and we were the only ones in there eating. You name it they had it...

At 7 we head over to IOA (walked) and get to the gate around 7:15. They opened the gates at 7:25 and we were off to WWoHP.

We went into the shops and took our time looking at everything. We window shopped and enjoyed everything going on in the windows...

We rode FJ and this time the line was a little longer which was good so that we could see more of the special effects going on in the castle. Being in a line thru the castle can be a good thing.

Both sides of the butterbeer cart had long lines when we finished the ride.

Sat in front of the pub as DH went into the restroom. A TM was outside, so I asked her if the pub was closed (I had not seen anyone go in) and she said no you just have to enter from the rear. REALLY? I went down the ally beside the restrooms and entered the pub. TWO people were inside getting butterbeer (in the AC).

About 8:45 they let the GP in and we decided to go back to our room and spend the day at the pool.

We ate dinner at Pastamore and used a $10 off coupon from orlandocoupons.com.

DH, DS #2 and I returned to WWoHP to ride FJ using the single rider line. The posted wait time was 90 minutes at 7 pm. It took about 30 minutes to get on the ride....Did anyone else notice their own face in the mist????

We went to Universal to ride HRRR and then rode the shuttle back to PBH...ahh the AC.

Rented another movie in the room and called it our last night....

one more day to come...

Loving your report and can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

We check out today :-(...

We slept in and called the front desk to request a late check out...we got until noon (normal check out is 11). I know that they are really booked for Friday night so I am happy with the extra hour.

When we are ready for the bellhop they come and store our luggage.

We head over to Universal see the Horror Makeup Show (used the express pass to be able to sit closer to the stage. We sit next to a family who is protecting their little girl from the scary show... I explained that it is more funny and educational than scary....it was nice to see the little girl relax..

We head over to MIB (can you tell I like that ride??? :cool1:) I have read the thread here and usually score higher than the boys...they are amazed..:rotfl2:

We then ride Jaws using our express pass...

We decide to eat a light lunch at Finnigans. I have known that we could get our drinks refilled at counter restaurants but learned that they also refill them at sit down restaurants too..:thumbsup2. DS #2 skips eating there so he can get a Turkey leg outside...

We decide to go to Hampton Inn to rest before meeting my MIL and BIL at NBA City...

We get our luggage and car....(Well DH and DS #1 did that..while DS #2 and discovered some VERY VERY tasty lemonade in the lobby of PBH)

When we get to the Hampton Inn they tell us that they have over booked and that we would be staying somewhere else on them...:cool1: We go to the Hampton Inn on John Young which is a new and nicer hotel.

I did notice that the gas prices jump down $0.10 when we got closer to the Walmart ($2.49)

For those that drive down I-95, gas is cheaper in SC than NC and GA.

We met everyone at NBA city. We parked in the parking deck free using our AP. Got our free tokens (AP) and played a few games.

The food was very good and not priced too bad...I had a steak and cheese sub w fries for 14.00.

At 8 pm DH wants to ride FJ again before we leave so we head there. The sign said 90 minute wait...we went into the single rider lane to be able to be in the AC...(it was sooo hot still...) 30 Minutes later we were on the ride...

still love it....also enjoy the reactions of the other riders when we do the single rider...

We closed up the park and hit the sack.....and then headed home....

Just found out today.....we are going back August 8 ! :cool1:

I did not know this, good to know. I forgot to really look at the specials before our last trip. Will make sure to do this before our next one comes up.

I love it when I score higher than DH, who is one the SWAT team here at home. Haha!

Just found out today.....we are going back August 8 !

LUCKY! We plan on going back in February right now for my Dad's birthday but I don't think I will be able to get down to Florida before then. I still plan on renewing my AP for at least another year. It is less expensive to do that than to buy a ticket for the week :)

Great trip report, you guys sound like us. Take your time, don't have to hit everything every day and make sure to hit up the pools :)

This is not a monthly special...we found out about it in April...it is not listed anywhere...

:-)

You can get your cup refilled at some sit down restaurants? Do you know which ones?

I'm not sure which ones do...Finnegins did....I would think that all the restaurants inside the parks do...

Is there a particular restaurant you would like to know about?

I would be happy to do some "recon" next month...

let me know! :thumbsup2
