Day 2 – January 9, 2006

We woke up really late today…oopss. We actually didn’t get up until 10a.m.! I freaked out; I couldn’t believe it was that late! Today is MGM day; I am not really looking forward to it because it’s not my favorite park but my husband is really excited about it! So finally at about 11:15a.m we are both ready to go. We skipped breakfast because it was waay too late and did our little 2 minute walk to the bus stop. The weather was nice today; not cold, not hot, just perfect. We arrived at the MGM Studios at around 11:30a.m and we were starving! After renting a locker to place our jackets in, we got our little map and off we went. But wait, we are too hungry, we can’t think right so we decided that we better get lunch. But wait, we have to take pictures! We found a Photopass photographer and took tons of pictures in front of the big hat. As we continued walking, we walked by Lilo & Stitch; I wanted to get in line so bad but my stomach didn’t let me. Finally, we made our way to the ABC Commissary. It wasn’t crowded at all and we got our food within ten minutes. We both got burgers with fries and ice cream. We were on the meal plan so we got a lot of food! After getting our stomachs filled with food, off we went……again. As we walked towards the big hat, we saw Pluto! He was all lonely with no one in line to take a picture with him, so we jumped right in with our Photopass in hand and took our pic with him. It came out really cute by the way. So we started to make our way around the park. First thing we did was The Great Movie Ride which was cute and then Star Tours. My husband loves Star Wars so he was thrilled to see this ride. We walked right in with absolutely no wait and it was fun. I had never ridden it either so I had a good time. I also almost lost my cell phone since it came out of my pocket during the ride and I didn’t notice until I was walking out. We then continued on to Muppets 3-D. Ok, to all the Muppet 3-D lovers, please don’t kill me, but I thought that show was so lame. We had just watched Phillharmagic the night before and maybe that’s why but wow it lacked a lot. It definitely needs some major updates. But anyway…we began to walk towards the streets of NY and San Francisco and stopped for some soft drinks and popcorn. We sat on a bench a little while and rested and then continued to check the time for Lights Motor Action! Wow, am I glad I went to check out the times. Since we were both wearing our bride/groom ears a cast member from the show came over and she congratulated us and asked us if we wanted to sit in the director chairs for the 3:30 show. Uhhhhh…..yeah that sounds like fun!!! and so she gave us a Magical Moment Certificate. It was only 2p.m. so we decided to keep walking and check out the Narnia exhibit and One Man’s Dream before the show. The Narnia exhibit was a bit disappointing in my opinion, it lacked a lot. I remember the 101 Dalmatians exhibit and it was a lot better. One Man’s Dream was really nice, Walt Disney is like my hero so I really enjoyed what I was able to see; since it was almost 3:15 we decided to leave though. We got the Lights Motor Action and it was packed! Finally they let people in and we found the CM that gave us the certificate. She escorted us to our seats which were in their own little section, like a private balcony, and she told us to watch our right side because the cars come out from there. She took some pictures of us and we just sat and waited for the show. The show was great! I’m not much into cars and stuff but this really grabbed my attention. I also got some awesome pictures and while one of the cars was waiting to come out I even waved at the driver and he waved back…….yes I know, I’m a dork. By the time it was done, the parade was over which made me sad because I really wanted to see it but I lived; Lights Motor Actions was a really good show and made up for it.

It was approaching dinner time already and we had Fantasmic dinner package reservations at Hollywood and Vine. We were there about 5 minutes late and only had to wait five minutes to be seated. Our waitress was nice and the food was good. We got our stomachs filled once again and by the time we were done with dinner (we take our time) it was close to Fantasmic time! We decided to do some shopping, grab our EMH wristbands and then went in to our little reserved section. We got good seats and one of the CMs was really nice and tried really hard to get the crowed fired up. The show finally started at 7p.m. and it was awesome! My husband loved it and I still remembered a lot of it from a few years back. We fought the crowds and finally made it out of there and ran to Rock and Roll Rollercoaster. We had a 5 minute wait and then walked right in with our EMH bands. The ride was amazing! I loved it and my husband was fascinated with it. We then ran to Tower of Terror but we almost chickened-out twice but then we decided that we were going to do it! We had about a 10 minute wait here and went right in. We got the 2nd row and held on for dear life. This ride is really neat and I wanted to do it again but we were getting tired by now. After we got out, we tried to run to catch The Voyage of the Little Mermaid but we missed it by just a few minutes. Darn it! We had to wait for the next show then. We decided to walk around a little bit again then and took some more pictures using Photopass in front of the big hat at night. Then we went on a search for ice cream for my husband. It was a bit chilly but he was determined to find his Mickey bar! We walked back to Little Mermaid and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The show was really cute, better than I expected and my husband thought it was nice (his fav. Movie is the Little Mermaid but we won’t tell anyone). By now, it was about 9:15-9:30p.m. and we decided to call it a night. Thankfully the bus came rather quickly and our wait was no more than 10 minutes. I know I have a new found appreciate for MGM Studios and we really wanted to go back before we left; we still had a lot of things to do and things to do again!

Tomorrow…….a day off from the parks and my new found respect for golfers.

Congratulations on your marriage. When you were in MK, did anything around the POTC pirate: indicate it would be in rehab at any time in 2006?? This rumor seems to crop up every month or so and we'd be ssssoooooooo disappointed :confused3 if it were down during our trip this summer. thanks.

Sounds fantastic ~ Thanx for sharing.
