My fiance made these invitations by hand, he worked on them for hours.

Wow, those are incredible!!!! i've never seen an invite like that...how unique! Your guests are going to love them :thumbsup2

Now those are invitations! How long did it take your fiance to make them?

Thanks - I was really proud and still am. I can not believe how they turned out. We originally saw the scroll idea when we went to Franck's however my DF decided that he wanted to make them. He only had to make 9, but each one took quite a long time to make, we can't really be specific as he did it over several months in different stages.

I was a bit nervous when he said don't interfere this is what I want to do. I didn't get involved other than to choose the colour of the ribbon and lining, but he designed the invitation and all I can say is :thumbsup2 .

Thanks for all your compliments guys I will show him and it will make his year and help towards his already big ego!!!

i love them.....he did a great job...
you picked a good one if he went through all that trouble for a wedding invite...congrats

Those are amazing! So beautiful. Did your DF make the boxes for the scrolls, too?

Wow, what a great idea!

Those invites are just beautiful...a job well done! Was that a touch of Mickey confetti inside the box? Neat :goodvibes

Those are amazing! Now, lots of questions... where did he get the boxes? What did he make the scrolls out of, it almost looks like cloth! What about the name plates, where did he get those???? Why not just put him on here and have him give us step by step instructions LOL!!!

We aren't inviting anyone to our wedding, but are having an at home reception. Those would be PERFECT!

step-by-step instructions

DF says that he wants to charge, but I have told him how great everyone is on here, so this time free of charge!!lol:rotfl2:

The boxes were actually specially ordered and made for us in India, they are made of Oak and then varnished as were the rods.

The inserts to line the box were padded out with foam which had to be carved out which he did by hand (this takes a lot of time getting the measurements accurate) with a backing of cardboard the silk cloth was then wrapped around loosely and secured to the underneath the backing and then slotted back in. They are very slightly larger than the inside of the boxes so that they fit snuggly, gives the option of pulling the insert out and using the boxes after. However our guests just to want to keep them as they are.

The paper is called Indian Silk paper and can purchased at any good specialist art stores, where we live we have got a place called owen and clark which specialises in lots of arts and crafts. This paper is regular paper but is mixed with silk and cotton strands but can be used in a standard inkjet printer(we have a photojet printer which just adds to the quality of the final print as you set the printer to print photo quality)

The mickey mouse confetti was very kindly brought back by one of DF's friends when she visited WDW. The confetti was sprinkled inside the box and in the scroll so that when it was opened the confetti fell out. The ribbon was purchased from a fabric shop and was used to tie the scroll together. We used double sided sticky tape to roll the paper entirely around the rod so that you can't see the glue.

The name plates we just went to a cobbler shop that also does engraving, they were already sticky which wasn't that good so we had to add more double sided tape.

DF designed a rig to help him place the name plates in the perfect centre everytime.:yay:

As you can see it is pretty simple but time consuming. but the end result is fantasmic.

He also wanted to design velvet bags with drawstings to put the invites in but I told him to stop as I think that they are great as they are.

If you have any questions please ask.

:woohoo:
