We struggled after the fireworks to get up on day 2 but Clare and I got up and showered then got the kids up and off along for breakfast. We had a minor meltdown from a tired Johannes as he wanted to put his own milk on his cereal but in the end he didn’t like it anyway. We all had a pretty decent breakfast, including “find the working toaster slot”. We got along to the park around 8:40 after going back for the buggy and our waterproofs as it looked like rain. Our room was just so convenient for the bus! :cool1:

We go in and Clare and Johannes went on the carousel while Amélie and I who were tagging behind just failed to make the cut as they’d closed the gates as we arrived. I spoke to a Scottish woman from Inverness and her pal (from South England somewhere) who told me she’d arrived and dumped her bags before going to the park and then returned to find the beds hadn’t been changed and ended up having to get another room. She said her daughter hadn’t slept all night as she thought she’d messed up the bed…poor wee thing.

After Clare came off we decided to skip it and went for Dumbo and then on PP but that was the end of EMH by then as a bit of a queue for PP.

I decided to make a go for BTM from where we were going into the wrong land (told you we don’t do mornings) but we got round to BTM but there was a huge queue and it wasn’t open. We queued for FP and the young lad in front pointed out it had been flooded the day before with the torrential rain and they were now allowing VIPs on (I think he made that up) but there were people on it and teh queue wasn't open. By this point the ride had opened and his g/f and daughter were way up the queue so he was going to struggle to meet up with then again - when they phoned him he told them it was Justin Beiber on the ride....

We eventually got FP tickets then decided to go on the big boat until our FP but it wasn’t open until 11 so we did Phantom Manor and came out had a wander then popped back to the castle area before realising it was FP time for BTM. We ran back and asked for a baby swap as Johannes is too small at 97cm (they measured him anyway). Johannes and I waited at the exit while Clare and Amélie went on and when we arrived at the exit the CMs tried to let us on but I had to explain we were waiting for Clare and Amélie and they weren’t in the batch of people coming off. When they came off, Amélie was beaming from ear to ear and even more when I said we could go on again. The CM was great and asked whether we’d like to sit front or back. Amélie said she’d been on the back so we waited a bit and were on at the very front. Brilliant ride and we were both beaming ear to ear. :goodvibes

I think we FPd Buzz next then went to Salon Mickey for some snacks. It was about 11:40 when we arrived but were made very welcome. It had obviously been busy as they were cleaning up and the bin was full.

Amelie pretending to be asleep but corpsing...

After the snacks we went back to the park via the arcade and Amélie and I ended up going on Star Tours while too small Star Wars fan and Clare went on Orbitron. We queued and filmed some of the wait attractions to let Johannes see and we were lucky to get on early as they needed 2 people to fill a simulator. It was our first time and it was really good, much better than I thought, though there was a lot of commentary in French but it doesn’t take away from the experience.

When we came out, Darth Vader was there and Amélie got her picture taken, she wouldn’t step forward until he beckoned to her – other kids just pushed in. We went back to Orbitron but had to wait a bit until Clare and Johannes did Orbitron – what a queue. Johannes loved it and Amélie pretended Star Tours wasn’t that good so Johannes didn’t get upset at not being able to do it.

We did Buzz after that with Clare getting a good score and the rest of us not so good. Moving on...

We went to the Studios after that and managed to miss all the shows – ages to wait until the English versions so went for ice cream – huge scoops - while we sent Clare to queue for the Tram Tour. We turned up after 15 mins (the queue time was showing as 10) but the ride was closed so we ate the ice creams and I asked one of the CMs when it would re-open, she said in a few mins so to hang around which we did and got on within 5 mins. It was pretty good at the canyon and the kids liked bits of it. The commentary was good as well, kept the less exciting bits going, the kids liked all the cars.

After that we went to Toy Story land and queued for ages for the parachutes which were brilliant. A family in front of us let their kids climb all over the display and at one point one of their kids was swinging on the plastic pully - ours were warned they wouldn't be doing that!

We started queuing for Slinky and gave up when it started raining as it looked very tame for the length of time we’d have to wait.

The rain didn’t come to anything so we headed back out into the park and Amélie decided that we had to go on the tower of terror – oh dear! I’d done this in Florida and enjoyed it but vowed never again but Amélie insisted it was me as Clare took her on it the year before. Johannes was looking tired and fell asleep while we did the ride.

We queued and the pre-show was good and the CM was brilliant creeping out everyone by staring at them as we stood on the loading numbers. We got in and the woman next to us kept smiling at Amélie as she could see how excited she was. Well, all I can say is it’s so much better than Florida! I came off shaking with a huge smile on my face, Amélie wanted to go again!

We also saw Stars in Cars, Cruella in particular was brilliant, just sneering at any of the kids who asked her for an autograph

By this time we were feeling a bit hungry so we left and went to the Village for tea. We liked Billy Bob’s last year so tried it again as there was a lot the kids would eat. It was a lot more expensive than I remembered and after shareholder discount came to about €70.

The kids were pretty shattered and the CM brought us all adult size drinks which the kids thought were great. (I know they rarely get coke and fizzy drinks so would drink more and not eat so I rationed it. While I was helping Amélie with something, Johannes managed to spill his drink over himself.

The straw in the tall glass was above his head so he tilted the glass (I’d held it at his height). The young CM doing the bar work walked past so I mentioned this to him and he disappeared, coming back with another drink in the same size glass. I had to demonstrate to him the issue with the glass size, he returned with a wine glass… He made no attempt to clean up the spilt coke and although I asked for some serviettes so I could clean up he never returned….

The food was ok and the kids did well though I felt it was much better the year before as we had fresh fruit and better puddings, choclate mousse etc. There was no fruit this year and no salads with olives – all cheap stuff like coleslaw and not as much choice. The kids were quite taken with the little mint sweets and took about 5 each, thinking they were being naughty…

We decided to head back after that as the kids were looking tired despite them wanting to see the fireworks again. We wandered past McDonalds and got a couple of coffees and checked email/Facebook while the kids looked at the lake and ran about for a bit.

I also bought Amelie this balloon...

We walked back and Amélie saw the huge Boulles that you go inside outside Hotel NY and wanted to do them. Johannes declined. He wanted to play Air Hockey in the little arcade but the token machine was broken. After about 15 mins, Amélie had her turn – video link attached. Worth watching for the Small World cover song in the background…

After seeing Darth, Amelie wanted an autograph book and got Woody's autograph in the Studios - you can just see her pink hat in the picture in fornt of Woody...

We all slept pretty well that night!

Like Amelie's new balloon :thumbsup2 but goodness knows how you managed to get it home!

Did she enjoy herself in (what I call) the hamster ball? It looks great fun.

Elaine, the balloon got us home! Saved the tunnel fare!

Amélie liked the hamster ball but she said it was a bit hot and wet. A wee girl on just before her didn't like it and was out after a minute or so crying :sad1:

Amélie really is a thrill seeker, This is her jumping off 70ft parachute simulator at Armed Forces day in Edinburgh a few months ago :scared1:

Another fab day, you managed to fit in loads. Lovely photos:goodvibes

Wow, she's brave! :thumbsup2 I'd be far too scared!

We watched children going in the hamster balls in Rome and the majority seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Thanks Nikki, we did get a lot more than I expected done as it wasn't really that busy, I think the rain the day before put a lot of people off. I have to say I was a bit ruthless having done some stuff before and didn't go on some rides with a long wait for a short ride but we were in general lucky with the rides. Salon Mickey and some snacks kept us going through lunch until tea time so I missed eating in a couple of places I wanted to try.
