Okay so we're back and had an awesome time!
Here's day One and Day Two reports....Days 3-5 in next post
A few months back I entered and won the Inside Your Celebration Trip from Orbitz.com and won a 5 day 4 night stay at Disney's BC, 4 5 day park hoppers, roundtrip airfare for DB and DSIL, 150 visa gift card and 150 disney dollar card. As well as mickey and his gang decorating our room one night (whatever that meant..i had no idea at the time) DH, myself, DS(18 mo), DB, DSIL were going and DM and DGM were joining us at their own expense. DM had a play 4 pass and DGM has an annual pass. I had scored DB, DSIL, and DM and DGM rooms at the royal plaza in buena vista for 55 a night! So things were working out!
Got there on 3/20 around 11:00am.....can I just say...BC is beautiful! Honestly! All the detail they put into that place....flounder and sebastian hidden in the hallway carpets...the nostalgic artwork....really beautiful! We were welcomed with "welcome home" Nice touch!
Day one
Animal Kingdom was our first park to hit, but when we got to the hotel, our passes and disney dollars were supposed to be in our room, but they werent there. i thought "Uh Oh...is this the first of many bumps along the way for this trip?"...I talked to the front desk and supposedly the tickets got resnt back to a ticketing office because they were senrt to BC too early.
I dont know....however BC management gave us complimentary park passes so we could continue on with our day. Later my Disney Rep I had been workign with called me as we were on our way to AK...told me I could pick up all the missing items at AK Guest Relations...but when I got there...they had no idea about it...took about an hour more and finally they figured it all out. For our trouble Guest Relations gave us two party fast passes and didnt ask for the complimentary tickets back! We gave them all to my mom and she basically got into Disney free!
Animal Kingdom Review:
Maybe because I live in Tampa and am used to Busch Gardens...I didnt really see the big deal about Animal Kingdom....granted they have some awesome rides and we didnt get to spend a full day...but it was okay. DS LOVED the safari ride. Ex Ev was really great too! Those were the two we did our fast passes on. Rafiki's planet was nice, however the petting zoo...ugh!
I am just not a petting zoo person. Went to Its Tough To be a Bug and then it was time for dinner at Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney.
Day two:
We all met at Cape May cafe for character breakfast. We loved this breakfast. Perfect for little guys like DS...lots of variety to choose from! We saw Minnie, Goofy and Donald. When DS saw Donald he started with "quack quack".....he's a genius child!
Went on to Epcot after breakfast. It was so nice to be walking distance. Really convienent! This was by far our longest day in the park. With an 18 month old we couldnt spend full days in the park, but he was a real trooper this day. We rode a few rides and went back around 1:30 for a nap and back at the park by 3 and stayed till it was about 8:30pm.
Flower Festival was going on and it was so neat to see all the topiaries around the park. They have also put up several childrens play areas, which ive never seen before and wondered if it was strictly for Flower Festival?
I hope they leave them there though. The kids were everywhere! Makes Epcot a little more kid friendly. Nemo was DS favorite ride at Epcot. He liked the tanks the best....even more than the ride itself. he ran from tank to tank "fish, fish fish!" It was too cute!
We were supposed to be out of our room between 4pm and 6pm so Mickey and his gang could decorate it. To be honest I was holding my breath
because since we had a snafoo with the tickets...I thought maybe this could be forgotten too. Boy were we wrong! We walked in and there were mickey footprints leading to our beds. On DH and my bed was a biography of Walt Disney, a pair of Mickey hands, and a photo album, along with a beautiful fleece blanket that had a mickey head and "The Elkins family" embroidered on it! On DS bed was a mickey mouse almost as big as him, 3 mylar mickey balloons floating next to his bed. On our window was a felt banner that sad "celebrate" with a mickey peering down over the top. Too cute! Then on our desk was a popcorn tin with chocolate covered marshmallow mickey heads on sticks that spelled out welcome, a picture frame with a signed pic of mickey and his gang, an autograph book, already signed by mickey mouse and a large mickey autograph pin! A little later we noticed one more surprise, a black siloutte of Tink tacked up on the closet door frame....her light turned from red to green to pink. We were just blown away! What great surprises. DS was so happy with the balloons and giant Mickey. He carried...well more like dragged
him around saying "Mi-Mi" What a great night!
I'll post about days 3-5 a little later...there's just too much to say in one post!
