Woke up to Mickey and Stitch calling at 7 a.m. so we could do breakfast at Kona. That just did not sound good at that moment as much as I wanted it to, so I simply hung up the phone and layed in bed. After about 20 minutes or so, Dh looks at me and says,"Guess this means no Kona?" I moaned. He got dressed and headed out to the food court with Dd and they brought back some breakfast. Dd took full advantage of my weakened condition to get fruit loops for breakfast! They brought me a bagel and cream cheese and I ate half and Dd ate the other half after her fruit loops. Dh got a breakfast sandwich. I fell asleep for another hour and Dd and Dh just layed around the room until I forced myself out of bed and declared we are going to Typhoon Lagoon right now.
We were out the door in the next 15 min. and shortly on our way to TL. It's a short bus ride, which was good, because that allowed us to be in the water that much sooner. None of us have spent much, if any, time in a water park so we simply set our stuff down on an empty chair and jumped in the lazy river where we floated for quite awhile. I think we went almost twice around the park before we stepped out at the family raft ride. I was feeling the healing effects of the cool water and beautiful scenery...There were orchids hanging down over us as we floated along....ahhhhh, paradise..........
Next, we waited about 25 minutes for a 30 second family raft ride...but I didn't care as I was feeling a lot better and I wanted that PICTURE! It was very fun even if toooooo short, but, hey, I had my picture! (And, it turned out really cute!) We walked over to the wave pool next and Dd LOVED this. I grew up at the beach, but Dd has never yet experienced waves. She just loved being knocked over and thrown about....Go figure.......She would get up and laugh and laugh.....It was pretty goofy.
After we tired of this, we decided we needed something to eat so we headed over to the snack bar. I was wary of what my stomach could handle at that point, but I definitely needed sustenance so Dh and I split a chicken wrap and I can't remember what Dd had. Food was a good thing and I felt a little better after a little something.
We checked out the snorkeling area-Shark Reef- next. That looked really cool as well, but we didn't feel like waiting in the LONG line so we hopped back in the lazy river and floated a couple of rounds while we decided what to do next. Dd and Dh wanted to slide so we headed over to the Storm slides and did those. I was pleasantly surprised by these. They were long and smooth and cool and fun. I did the easiest one over and over. Dd and Dh took turns doing all three. I tried the middle one once, but I don't like going in the dark...even just for a second...it was alright, but I like mellow better.
After our fill of those, Dh went on the super fast straight down in the dark tubes....I forgot what that one is called. We watched him a couple of times and then Dd begged to do it. So up she went with Daddy and down she came a few minutes later. At the bottom, she stood up kind of in shock with a wierd sort of wide-eyed smile(?) plastered on her face. I asked her how she liked it and she said it was fun, still with that shell shocked look on her face. So I asked her if she wanted to do it again fully expecting her to say no, but she nodded. I asked if she was sure and she nodded again and up she went with Daddy. I watched them get up to the top and down came Dh, but where was Dd? Dh points to the stairs and I see her tiny form way up there coming back down. Apparently, the shock wore off when she got to the top of that slide once again and she came to her senses!
So we headed for something a bit tamer...the raft slides. These were also lots of fun. We did the bumpy one first and it was okay, but the smooth one was much more my style and I did this one over and over, the last time going down backward ( I was getting brave
) Dd and Dh took turns doing both of them. I was surprised that we didn't have to wait in line for any of the slides given how crowded it was. Maybe everyone was over at the new Crushin' Gusher...would have liked to try it, but the lines were prohibitive.
We were about ready to head back at this time, but not before one more go in the wave pool. We did that for awhile and then gathered our things from the chair and got some Mickey bars and cold water
. Yum. I was definitely feeling better to be able to eat this! We viewed our pictures and, of course, I purchased them both.
When we got back to the resort, I got dressed and then dozed for about an hour while Dd and Dh showered and dressed. That felt good. The nice, relaxing day was just what I needed and I was feeling so much better that I was looking forward to our dinner at Biergarten. We headed out the door just as the sky opened up and it began to pour. A bus arrived as we reached the stop and we quickly hopped on. We pulled out our disposable ponchos as we pulled up to Epcot and put them on before making the trek to World Showcase. Then we sloshed our way up to the restaurant entrance and checked in.
We waited all of 5 minutes and our beeper went off and we were seated with a really nice couple on there own (their kids were grown) Shortly after, another couple joined us that were young with no kids yet. It was fun visiting. This restaurant is so great. The setting is so picturesque...it looks like a courtyard in a little German village at night complete with a full 'moon' in the sky. The oktoberfest celebration is festive and fun and the German beer on tap is great. We love German food and had a great time trying all the selections. Everything was good. We had a great dinner, once again. This is another one we would definitely come back to.
After dinner we headed for, you guessed it, the kaki gori stand for our last melon shaved ice of the trip.
We ambled around and I bought myself a going away present at the Arribas Bros stand. A silver necklace that I have worn everyday since I came home. After that we decided to head to DTD to shop for gifts at WOD.
We took a long ride so we could take the monorail from Epcot and got off at the Poly and took the bus to DTD from there. We had fun picking up gifts for everyone (and a few for me...Dh never buys anything unless I buy it for him and he already had his two t shirts and key chain...and the wine stoppers we bought in France) Dd's money was long since spent, so she had to have her fun helping us pick out gifts. We did stop in the Ghiradelli shop after this and picked up some yummy free samples, after which Daddy bought her a candy bar and surprised me with a bag of peppermint bark...My favorite Christmas treat in summer, no less. (By the way, the absolute best peppermint bark I have had is from Williams Sonoma...in case you want to try some this Christmas...
) Well, I was very tired at this point...still feeling the effects of my 'illness' so we headed for the bus.
When we returned, all my good intentions of organizing and packing up just flew right out the window as soon as my head hit that pillow. I was asleep before Dd and Dh were even ready for bed...Tomorrow would be our last day in the World...
