Mickey woke us up again. And after breakfast at the Old Port Royale we were off to Disney-MGM Studios.
First off Star Tours, and Dave found out he has a sore back - so no more big rides for him.
The Muppet Vision 3-D movie was good, but the It's Tough To Be a Bug movie at AK was better and we both enjoyed The Great Movie Ride - we had the Gangster version.
The Magic of Disney Animation was bittersweet. We saw the studios where the animators used to create animated movies and with the help of Mushu from Mulan we learnt how a character goes from an idea to a movie star. Some movies they have created are Mulan, Brother Bear, Lilo and Stitch, Home on the Range and the Incredibles. The Florida Animation Studios closed last Monday, so you can no longer see the Animators at work. They are now all based in California and most of the the animation is digitised anyway. At the end of the tour there is an class where you can learn to draw a Disney Character, but there was a 20 minute wait and we are not very patient.
Even Dave enjoyed Voyage of the Little Mermaid, neither of us was fast enough to win a place in the hot seat at Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play It!, but we got the questions right! Sounds Dangerous was amusing and we got sneezed on (or pee-ed on) by an elephant, and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular was interesting.
I tried to get Dave to ride the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror with me, but it was no go, I was going to go on my own, but I need someone to hang onto, so it didn't happen.
By now it was lunch time, we tried to eat at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant but the first available seating was an hour away, not that long, but we are hungry now! So we stopped for a burger and a coke at the ABC Commissary, which was a surprisingly good burger.
Then it was on with the show - The Making of the Haunted Mansion Movie, Beauty and the Beast and finally the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade. I don't think I am a big fan of parades, although I prefered this over the AK parade.
We went back to the resort to grab some sweaters and then we went to Downtown Disney. Dave had bought me tickets to La Nouba by Cirque de Soleil for Christmas. The show was amazing. I can't wait to see them in Vancouver again in May when the perform Quidam.
After the show we strolled through the Westside and the MarketPlace. The World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, Lego Imagination Centre and Days of Christmas were my favourite stores, and they are huge. I could spend a lot of money in there! But for today the only place I did spend money was at The Wonderful World of Memories - a scrapbook store, how surprising!
We had dinner at Wolfgang Pucks - pepperoni pizza, herb fries and a large coke. It was yummy. DH was fascinated by the pager thingys and we even had to take a photo!
By now DH's back is really store, so we picked up some hot chocolate and came back to the resort. I run DH a bath (those bathtubs are not made for guys who are 6'3" and put him to bed. Not sure what we will do tomorrow - it will depend on how DH is doing.
